"The REF Matsuyama City Station Hotel by VESSEL Hotels boasts an exceptionally prime location, right in the very heart of Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. It's conveniently situated right next to Takashimaya department store and the city's iconic Ferris wheel 🎡, offering super easy access to both Matsuyama Castle and Shimonada Station.
The room itself was quite spacious. This was my first time in Japan encountering a design where the washbasin was cleverly positioned outside the main bathroom area, which genuinely made the bathroom feel more expansive. The room also came equipped with a small table and two chairs, which was incredibly convenient.
The breakfast was a particular highlight! There was a wide variety of delicious options, and everything tasted great. The sea bream sashimi, in particular, was incredibly fresh and succulent 😋. Among the five types of orange juice available, the 'Wenzhou Orange' was the sweetest – I highly recommend anyone visiting to try it! 🥳"

"The room was quite small, and the view from the window was a messy cityscape. You couldn't even see Matsuyama Castle from the room. Both the bedding and breakfast were of mediocre quality, which meant it wasn't great value for money.
However, the location was excellent. From Matsuyama Station, you can take tram line 3 or 5 to Okaido, and the hotel is just a two-minute walk from the tram stop. The hotel is surrounded by various dining options and is very close to department stores."

"The bed and breakfast was satisfactory for this trip. The breakfast combines Japanese and Western styles, including curry rice, fried eggs, grilled fish, miso soup, etc. It is rich and delicious, bringing energy to the day. Although the room is not big, it is simple and clean in design, fully equipped, and the lighting and natural light create a comfortable atmosphere. The luggage was neatly placed, indicating a smooth check-in. The overall feeling is warm and relaxing, and it is a pleasant stay experience."

"It's a bit far from the Dogo Onsen area, so it's hard to get out once you enter, and there aren't many places to walk around.
However, it was nice that they welcomed us by blowing bubbles and giving us a sign when we checked in and checked out.
When I said it was our anniversary, they took pictures and printed them for us as a service.
They even gave us a cake as a service. ㅎㅎ
Overall, the facilities were a bit outdated, but we were able to use the hot spring open-air bath leisurely, and the anniversary private bath service was good.
However, there were a lot of group tourists, so it was inconvenient for breakfast and dinner.
Um... the food seemed to be at the level of a wedding hall buffet.
The friendly staff was nice!
Anyway, there were many other services, so it was good!"

"If you're traveling to Matsuyama, I highly recommend the Candeo Hotel.
It's right next to the Okaido shopping arcade and less than 100 meters from the free airport shuttle bus stop, making it incredibly convenient.
The onsen on the 13th floor is small, but it includes an open-air bath and sauna. I used it twice daily, and it was free. The breakfast buffet was clean and delicious.
The tram stop is right in front, so you can catch a cabanas anywhere."

"Nice location. It's just like an ordinary Japanese hot spring hotel, the highlight is the hot spring pool on the top floor, where you can look up at the stars at night. The dinner was average (felt like a group meal). As other reviews suggested, if you don't have a meal package, you can go to the hot spring street to eat and you might have a better experience."

AAnonymous UserAmazing accommodation nearby key tourist sites and shopping areas in Matsuyama. It’s a 5-minute walk to the Okaido shotengai and 10 minutes to the ropeway/cable car station for Matsuyama Castle. Dogo Onsen is a 15-20 minute tram ride away. The rooms are clean, well-kept, and decently sized (by Japanese standards). The staff are courteous and professional. The breakfast is fantastic with many different options.

WwwhosambirThe staff at the front desk were efficient, though they came across as cold and reserved. The room was disappointing, with run-of-the-mill furniture/furnishings and a creaky chair. The lights were too dim. There was no view as the lower half of the window was blocked by a wall. On the other hand, the bathroom looked quite elegant and was kept clean.
The location is great. There are plenty of dining & shopping options nearby. The hotel has a shopping mall on the lower floors and is next to Mitsukoshi Department Store and Okaido Shopping Street. The Okaido Tram Stop is down the street. The bus stop for the airport limousine is right in front of Mitsukoshi. Attractions such as Bansuiso, Saka no Ue no Kumo Museum and the cable car to Matsuyama Castle are all within walking distance.

Has parking within the hotel but subject to extra charge. Very challenging to park though and they won’t help you park. Need precision for four wheels to balance on two narrow bars.
Hotel has a Japanese restaurant within the compound and it is not bad.

A tram stop is conveniently located right downstairs, and a FamilyMart convenience store is just across the street. The hotel is also situated next to Shiroyama Park and Ehime Museum of Art.

ケケイノI stayed here because I valued the price. The bed was spacious, but it seemed to be of a lower rank than the room I had stayed in before. Also, it seemed like the rooms you could watch on demand were fixed, so you could only watch TV or movies, which made it a little difficult to kill time. If it's used as a love hotel, it's a really reasonable and good hotel. If it's for travel, I would have been happier if I could have chosen the type of room, but is that too selfish? The breakfast was delicious, thank you very much.

Room was clean and compact; but the double bed is quite squeezy if you're fitting two people inside.
Buffet breakfast is 1300¥ if you inquire the day before you intend to eat. It is 1500¥ if you buy it on the day itself.
Accidentally booked a smoking room; but the staff were kind enough to change it for us once they had a room.

VVictorI was there at Jan 2024, and only stayed there for 2 days.
The staff there can speak English, and were nice. The second day I stayed there, the staff offered me to have hotpot with all the other people living in Fujiya, an unforgettable experience I treasured and will forever remembered. Even though it is a proxy of a Japanese family, it did feel like I have experienced the Japanese hospitality and friendliness. There were some interesting characters, who may or may not frequented Fujiya, whom I had the pleasure to have this hotpot together.
The facilities are not the best, but the basics necessities were there and no complaining from me, they have an AC there, comfortable enough for me.
The staff did explain that there is only one shower, so we might have to wait for the person to finish. However, since the location is so close to Dogo Onsen, they did recommend to go there instead, and after all, it was why i chose this location in the first place. Location is really close to the Dogo Onsen and the Yuzuki-Castle ruin, which was a lifesaver for me
I would say that all other sight-seeing locations are within walking distance as well since I did walk to all those interesting places. However, I do realize not all people like to walk like I do. To counter that, Fujiya is practically next to the tram station, which you can use it to go to many places in the city.

판판다라The accommodation is very clean. The blankets were also clean. Wider than it appears in the photo. There are enough people to sleep comfortably. There is a separate shower room on the second floor, but it is not a burden because it is a private shower room. The owner and employees are all women and friendly, so I think women can use it with confidence. There seems to be only one Wi-Fi installed at the desk on the first floor, so you should assume there is no Wi-Fi. The location of the accommodation is perfect as it is less than a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen. The private rooms have thick walls, so the soundproofing is better than I thought.
If you can tolerate the inconvenience of having a separate shower room, this is the best value for money. Everything else was perfect. Recommended for those who want to use it cheaply.

GGuest UserThe most satisfying hotel in Japan has a Japanese-style room. The Japanese-style room also has a separate bathroom. Sleeping is very comfortable. The service is very good. Very patient. The English communication is also smooth. The hotel also has drinks to provide until 10 pm. The orange juice is delicious. The breakfast is delicious.
