We absolutely loved our stay at 山古民宿 Shangu Homestay. The room was spacious, well presented in ******* style, and kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. The window-side lounge area was so cozy that we didn’t want to leave after three nights. Dinner was a highlight—the ******* hotpot was delicious, with fresh yak meat, vegetables, and noodles. Breakfast included fruit, ******* butter tea, and tsampa, giving us a real taste of local traditions. The host was incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about ******* culture, nomadic life, and even how to make incense. During our stay, it snowed heavily, and our children had a fantastic time playing in the snow with the host. It was not just accommodation, but a cultural journey filled with warmth and unforgettable memories. Tibetan-style homestay, the picture is taken with the original camera without filter. I like this style very much. It was designed by someone with a certain aesthetic taste. The service at the B&B was very enthusiastic. We arrived very late due to traffic jam on May Day. The girl from the B&B came out to pick us up. The yak beef hotpot was already prepared on the table, and she waited for us to finish eating. We were also given a free upgrade to a suite. The ******* breakfast the next morning was very unique. There was also a cat cafe in the B&B. The barley coffee was both beautiful and delicious. The cats were also very cute, with two very adorable kittens. The baby likes playing with the cat all the time. Thank you for tolerating this naughty child. Before leaving, she gave us handmade sachets and specifically told us to take good care of the children. Will definitely recommend to friends.

If you’re considering staying here, just book it. After four years living in China, this was my farewell trip, and I was incredibly excited to experience ******* culture. I could not have chosen a better place. The family is simply wonderful. They arranged airport pick-up, helped me organize trips around the area, changed my breakfast so I could try authentic local food, prepared homemade yogurt for me every evening, and even introduced me to friends who spoke English. Their hospitality was beyond anything I could have expected. I have travelled extensively all over the world, and without a doubt this family has made this one of the best trips of my life. They even invited me to watch a movie projected onto the courtyard wall with them one evening – a memory I will always cherish. As for the hotel itself, it is spotless. I’m very particular about cleanliness, and everything was impeccable. The quality of the towels, bedding and furnishings was exceptional, and the hotel is absolutely beautiful. I stayed for five nights and was never bored. Xiahe has so much more to offer than many people realise. I honestly cannot recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for making my stay so special ❤️

The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile! It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement. On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!

Although the rooms are a bit cramped, they are fully equipped. The owners provide attentive and meticulous service. Free parking is available in the small courtyard. The reception desk and the coffee bar on the third floor are filled with interesting traditional cultural knowledge. When you come to Xiahe County, you must visit Xicheng Inn!

We encountered a stormy night, and staying in the stargazing room was a fantastic experience! However, the shared bathroom we booked this time wasn't very convenient, so I would recommend booking a room with a private bathroom.

When booking the hotel, I specifically checked other guests' reviews. It still exceeded my expectations. The guesthouse isn't located on the main street, but in an alley, near the Wuzelinka ******* Restaurant. We arrived at the guesthouse on the evening of the 2nd, and it was snowing that night. The owners and their family came out to pick us up—they were incredibly friendly! The two-story rooms were both very clean. Our electric blanket broke, and they bought us a new one the next day. They also always let us know before we went out or when we returned. Breakfast was home-style, with millet porridge, white eggs, etc. On my second day, I caught a cold and experienced some altitude sickness, and the guesthouse owner gave us medicine! In short, I recommend this guesthouse to everyone visiting Xiahe! The only downside was that our trip was a bit rushed, so I didn't take many photos of the guesthouse.

I had a truly unique and enjoyable stay at this campsite. Not only was the accommodation comfortable, but there was also so much to do. During the day, you step right out into vast grasslands with beautiful scenery everywhere you look – perfect for stunning photos. In the evenings, the campsite comes alive with lively bonfire parties, creating a fantastic atmosphere. At night, you can gaze up at a sky full of stars; the view is incredibly open. Overall, it was peaceful and therapeutic, allowing me to relax and have a great time. It's the ideal spot for a relaxing grassland getaway.

My stay at the Norbesor Hotel in Xiahe truly exceeded my expectations! The location is absolutely fantastic, super close to Labrang Monastery. You can easily walk to see the temple's night view, and it's incredibly convenient for exploring and dining out. The area is also very peaceful. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and I could see distant mountain views right from my window. The facilities were complete, and the Tibetan-style decor was very distinctive, making for a very comfortable and restful stay. The ******* food at the hotel was such a delightful surprise! Their signature hand-pulled lamb was tender and flavorful, and the dipping sauce was incredibly aromatic. The portions were generous, and the taste was authentic. Plus, there were cultural song and dance performances, allowing us to experience local culture while dining. The front desk and restaurant staff were all very warm and helpful, responding quickly to any issues. My entire stay was comfortable and worry-free. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit! Overall, the value for money is excellent. Friends visiting Xiahe should definitely consider this place!

This hotel is located on the 18th floor. The entrance was a bit messy, but I really like the hotel. It has a large screen TV, refrigerator, automatic toilet (the bidet didn't work because I wasn't familiar with how to use it), free drinking water, and automatic curtains. It's almost perfect.
