The house was absolutely beautiful! The hosts were very kind and friendly. There were very good mountains for long hikes right behind the house and the views from the top of the mountain were very good. The house was also a medium walk away from the Labrang monastery and we found it very calming to get up early to spin the prayer wheels there. We absolutely recommend this beautiful house and helpful hosts for others.

We absolutely loved our stay at 山古民宿 Shangu Homestay. The room was spacious, well presented in ******* style, and kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. The window-side lounge area was so cozy that we didn’t want to leave after three nights. Dinner was a highlight—the ******* hotpot was delicious, with fresh yak meat, vegetables, and noodles. Breakfast included fruit, ******* butter tea, and tsampa, giving us a real taste of local traditions. The host was incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about ******* culture, nomadic life, and even how to make incense. During our stay, it snowed heavily, and our children had a fantastic time playing in the snow with the host. It was not just accommodation, but a cultural journey filled with warmth and unforgettable memories. My trip to Gannan ended, and I've been home for two days now. I have to add this belated review today. Location and Natural Beauty The hotel is nestled on the edge of the Sangke Grassland, offering vast grassland scenery as soon as you step out the door. On our check-in day, the welcoming owner offered to take us for a walk by a nearby stream. Verdant grass lay beneath our feet, dotted with wildflowers, the stream gurgled, and in the distance, cattle and sheep strolled leisurely. It felt like stepping into an untouched natural landscape. This immersive experience, detached from the hustle and bustle of life, was one of the greatest surprises of the trip. Service is in the Details What touched us most was the owner's thoughtfulness. Due to our tight schedule the next day, we planned to depart at 7:30 AM. We had planned to skip breakfast, but the owner specifically inquired about our departure time the night before and prepared a hot breakfast the next morning. Bread, milk tea, and side dishes...the simple fare held the most simple warmth, making us feel like family on a cool morning. This selfless enthusiasm far exceeds expectations of ”hotel service.” Summary This isn't just a hotel offering accommodations; it's a warm, grassland inn. If you're looking for a place on the Sangke Grasslands where you can experience local hospitality, this is definitely worth choosing. The owner's sincerity and the beautiful grassland scenery will be the most unforgettable moments of your trip.

My first impression upon arriving was wonderful. The guesthouse was bright and clean, exuding a strong ******* atmosphere. The owners were incredibly warm and welcoming. Although it was a guesthouse, everything was provided perfectly, and there was nothing that felt uncomfortable. From small things like face towels and wet wipes, to a constant supply of hot spring water, to the ceremonial scarves they presented us with upon entering, and the complimentary homemade yogurt—so delicious! The tsampa made by the guesthouse owner was also exceptionally good, which made me so happy. They even provided a free, warm breakfast! Thanks to the guesthouse owner's kind recommendation, we met a very reliable, warm, and kind man who showed us around Gannan. I love Xiahe!!! I love Gannan!!!

The manor is very large and the owner is very enthusiastic. It is very suitable for team building or party outings. It is a famous hotel with good conditions in Labrang Town. You can go on vacation. The breakfast is also very delicious. The owner also washed the car for long-distance travel. Thank you very much. Sangke Grassland is average and not as recommended as Ruoergai Grassland.

When booking the hotel, I specifically checked other guests' reviews. It still exceeded my expectations. The guesthouse isn't located on the main street, but in an alley, near the Wuzelinka ******* Restaurant. We arrived at the guesthouse on the evening of the 2nd, and it was snowing that night. The owners and their family came out to pick us up—they were incredibly friendly! The two-story rooms were both very clean. Our electric blanket broke, and they bought us a new one the next day. They also always let us know before we went out or when we returned. Breakfast was home-style, with millet porridge, white eggs, etc. On my second day, I caught a cold and experienced some altitude sickness, and the guesthouse owner gave us medicine! In short, I recommend this guesthouse to everyone visiting Xiahe! The only downside was that our trip was a bit rushed, so I didn't take many photos of the guesthouse.

The most satisfying stay for this self-driving tour ～ The little girl at the front desk had a very good attitude, and she patiently answered the questions asked. She called in advance to consult. The front desk was also very enthusiastic to help reply. The Tibetan-style Boyu suite I lived in was too powerful. The room decoration was very tall. The focus was clean and tidy. The bathroom had a bathtub. It was also very spacious and intimately equipped with body lotion. The temperature is extremely comfortable at night, and there is no high reaction. Xiahe County is a good choice for accommodation.

The dorm was very clean and equipped with a kettle, which was nice. I was the only guest during my stay. As mentioned in the other reviews, the dorm is located in the basement and you have to walk a bit to reach the toilet. The „shower“ is located across the front desk. It’s a small room where the hotel is storing their cleaning equipment, so showering there is a quite dirty and unpleasant experience. As there are so many dorms in the basement (I would guess 50+ beds), I wonder how they would handle the situation if the hotel is fully booked. Overall I would recommend staying there for one night, if you are not picky.

What a beautiful hotel! It is traditional ******* style, and the family who run the hotel are so friendly. They helped us with many things and told us about some events happening at the monastery. We were able to store our bicycles on the ground floor. The room was stunning and spotless. Great value too! Couldn't be a better location. I think this has been my favourite hotel of our whole trip. Thank you!

The hotel is extremely close to the monastery. Some people at the reception speak english and they can book you a private tour to visit the grasslands and the monasteries outside the city that otherwise would be unreacheables for 400rmb per vehicle. The room is big and the beds are warm.
