"Just pulled up to the hotel and — plot twist — our room wasn’t ready. Shocking, I know. They’d just survived the Water Festival the day before, so the place was probably still half-drowned and hungover. The receptionist dude was an absolute saint. His female colleague, however… let’s just say she was clearly auditioning for the role of “Cranky Receptionist from Hell.” I’m 99% sure she was on her period and the other 1% was pure personality. Thankfully they upgraded us, which was nice. I never saw the original room, so for all I know they moved us from a broom closet to a slightly larger broom closet with a view. Speaking of which — the view? Legit fire. The room itself? Clean enough. Dry sink area: spotless. Toilet: sparkling. Then came the shower — oh boy. It started off promising, like a decent enough setup… until my girlfriend jumped in. Five minutes later the hot water ghosted her mid-shampoo like a bad Tinder date. One second she’s happily singing, next second she’s screaming like she just got waterboarded by ice cubes. I’ve stayed in fancier bathrooms in Mexican motels that still had bullet holes in the walls and more reliable plumbing. Breakfast was… breakfast. The kind of “basic” that makes you nostalgic for airplane food. But hey, they gave us more bottled water than a doomsday prepper’s basement, so points for hydration. We were only there for two nights — in and out like a cheap Tinder date. Would I go back? Big fat question mark with a side of “probably not even if they paid me.” ⁉️"

"STAFF APPRECIATION: A special thanks to Xiao Zhang, who was absolutely lovely, and to Ms. LinLin who took such amazing care of me during my stay. Not only is she professional, but Ms. LinLin is incredibly kind, helpful, and warm. As a woman traveling alone to Bana for the first time for a short weekend trip, I was a bit intimidated. She not only helpfully advised me and offered a plan but gave me the freedom to adjust as needed and add my own favorites. More importantly, traveling with her I felt extremely safe and at ease. If you are ever in the area and are able to request a driver or guide around the city, please request her. The staff themselves are all so, so kind and accommodating. There were issues with my flight, and my arrival date was pushed back. They did all they could to make this as painless a process for me as possible, making a frustrating situation less so. Thanks to the combined efforts of the hotel and trip.com, I did not suffer any losses on this trip. I am beyond grateful as many of my fellow passengers were not so fortunate. Any questions I had were promptly and patiently answered, which I greatly appreciate as a foreign guest. HOTEL REVIEW: The hotel itself is well situated, facing both the mountains and the rivers. The room was clean, the amenities left nothing lacking. My favorite part was probably the pool which is open late. It was the perfect way to relax and enjoy the lovely night view of the river and bridge after walking around the nearby Night Market (another must-see place). The water is not deep, less than 2 meters, I think, and is safe for children and non-swimmers. I chose a room with its own pool in which one could relax before bed or early in the morning as the fog rolls in over the mountains. I only ate the breakfast, and the options were generous, a mix of Chinese and Western fare. TLDR: I highly recommend this hotel for a location, comfort, convenience, and amazing customer service and care. If you have a chance to visit the pool at night, the view is great! It is a great option for solo travelers, couples, and children. If possible, I suggest hiring one of their drivers as a personal driver/guide. Request 淋淋! You won’t regret it. ✨️✨️"

"The hotel has a beautiful view, and I stayed here for about 10 days. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and convenient. Everything I needed was nearby, so I hardly had to travel far. What impressed me the most was the excellent service. The staff took very good care of me throughout my stay. For women traveling alone, there is no need to worry because they make you feel very safe and well looked after. Whenever I needed anything, I received help quickly and efficiently. This is my honest review from the heart. I would give this hotel a perfect 10/10 with no deductions at all. "The hotel isn't on the main street. Let's start with the positives: the room is large, it offers great value for money, the facilities are quite good, and the staff are friendly. The front desk is also very responsive via WeChat. On the downside: breakfast is very mediocre, and if you go 40 minutes before closing, there's hardly anything left and they don't replenish it. Projecting onto the screen is too complicated. Also, I asked for clothes hangers for three days but never received them. These are all areas that could be improved, and if they were, the hotel would be even better. Because the price is very fair, I'm still giving it a 5-star rating, and the cons won't deduct from that."

"The accommodation is located in the Gaozhuang Scenic Area. There are a lot of food downstairs. It is very close to the Star Night Market. It is very convenient to get in and out. It is very quiet to sleep at night. The boss is very enthusiastic. There is an arrangement to pick up and drop off at the high-speed rail station. It just rained that day. The driver told the boss to pick us up directly at the parking lot on the 3rd floor. The boss knew that we had brought children and gave us two dolls. The room was very clean, two 1.8-meter beds, very comfortable, there was a large balcony and a washing machine, and laundry detergent was provided (the laundry detergent was too obvious, so we thought it was not provided, so we ran to buy it ourselves), The balcony can see the white beach, and the night view of Gaozhuang, great!"

"Gaozhuang truly transforms from day to night; its real charm only emerges in the evening! The melodious hulusi, the graceful Fannuo dance, the endless neon lights, the exotic Dai electronic music, and the bustling Ganbai Street. Since I'm not a fan of guesthouses, I always choose the Mekong Jinglan Hotel for my stays. I visited Gaozhuang two years ago and also stayed at Jinglan. The facilities, location, views, and service were all top-notch. So, for this trip to Gaozhuang, Jinglan was again my top choice! The room interiors, bed frames, and even the exterior walls are all well-maintained, indicating that the hotel is well-managed and invests in its upkeep, creating a positive cycle. This time, I'm staying in Gaozhuang for 4 days. I initially booked a two-day River View Executive Twin Room. At check-in, the lovely Miss Xiaoju at the front desk warmly welcomed me and helped arrange a high-floor room as requested. When I learned about the in-house suites on higher floors (fewer than 5 available, with better views, and not sold on platforms), Xiaoju proactively offered a key card for me to view them. After some discussion, Xiaoju offered a very favorable price within her authority. Consequently, I decided to book the in-house suite for another two days. A huge thank you to Xiaoju for her help! My vacation wasn't long enough this time to stay for the Dai New Year Water Splashing Festival. I'll definitely come back when I have more time to experience the three-day carnival!"

"The room was very comfortable, newly renovated, and had no strange odors. They even provided a vanity mirror on the desk, which was a nice touch. The mattress was comfortable, and the two beds could be pushed together, which is a blessing for families with children. The hotel has a rooftop pool, which my child absolutely loved! The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and greeted us every time we came and went. They also thoughtfully provided small amenities, and the earplugs were a lifesaver!"

"Free pick-up from the airport or station for 2 consecutive nights (make a reservation one day in advance): After staying here for half a month, I almost couldn’t bear to leave. The balcony has a view of the Lancang River, which is very spectacular and beautiful. Washing machine and refrigerator are all available.
