This is the worst 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in. There were cockroach-like bugs in the room, similar to the ones in the movie The Mummy, which was scary. After talking to the front desk. The front desk manager actually told me that this is normal, and there is no guarantee that there will be no room change, because this is in the desert. Very speechless. I lived in it and sprayed insecticide directly. The main thing is the poor service attitude.

2nd time at the hotel. Amenities fabulous, animation team are great informative, attentive. The staff are amazing couldn’t do enough for you. Room was big and comfortable and our request for pool side room was sorted. Spa amazing the massages are definitely recommended. Only thing for us were we were the only couple from UK the hotel is predominantly German which is no problem but the music, entertainment was all in German including music in disco so for anyone else it was a little isolating. The hotel is stunning right next to the beach great location.

Stayed for 10 days, UK travellers, with our 16 year old son. Still here now and waiting for airport pick up. This resort is huge, with lots to do both during the day and the evening. Multiple entertainment options in the evening. Entertainment staff work really hard day and night. We didn’t partake in any daytime activities as it’s just too hot. We spent our days at the relax pool, the guys there couldn’t have been more helpful, I hope the hotel pass on our thanks to the lifeguard staff - in particular Ali and Ahmed (Geri) at the pool, they are kind, fun and don’t stop checking if you need anything, they are a real credit to the hotel. Our room cleaner Tarek was so helpful and did a great job. We ate at the main restaurant most nights and sat in the outdoor area and Mohammed had a table with our regular drinks waiting for us every evening as soon as he saw us walk in. As most people have pointed out, the guests are mainly German, Europeans and Egyptians, typical for most Egyptian resorts. The staff are what really make this hotel, I have seen previous reviews where people have stated the staff don’t speak English, total rubbish, didn’t meet anyone who didn’t converse with us and have a bit of craic! The food is the same as any all inclusive, if you Go on holiday to eat chicken nuggets and burgers, it won’t be for you but we found the selection to be plentiful and great. Personally the only downside was the proximity of our room (2522) a bit far from the facilities, wouldn’t be an issue in cooler weather but a bit of a trek in the heat. If I came back I would request sea or pool view. Overall, a great holiday, very relaxing.

I will start by saying that I do not recommend this hotel as a 5 star establishment, I have no idea how they have achieved this rating. It is certainly not luxury. The setting is very nice, it is really big, the pools are nice, the beach is nice the bay is nice but that is where it ends. The food is poor and certainly well below 5 star standards. The buffet food is bland and tasteless. I am not sure what happened in the second week as everything was very salty and almost inedible. The entertainment is bad, I am not sure what else to say about it. We saw a terrible singer on a couple of nights and the rest was the animation team basically providing entertainment that I would say was aimed at children. Again I would expect a lot more from a 5 star establishment. The service was at best hit and miss, even when waiters were tipped, we managed to sit in the pool bar, (particular bad) for an hour and a half and only managed 2 drinks and were waiting to be served for a 3rd but then eventually left, it was not particularly busy either. Additionally some staff can generally be quite rude particularly in the day time at the pool bar. Again we sat upstairs in the bar and were ignored by the waiters despite given them a tip, this is not 5 star service and is poor. You are best off going to the bar yourself and getting your drinks, which is fine in a 3 star hotel, but this is supposed to be 5 star with the associated service. We were also surprised to be told that the Vista Marie pub closes and stops serving at 12am, when it says in the literature that it closes at 1am. I don’t want to far all the staff with the same brush as there were a couple of waiters that were very good, but in general, the service was poor. All of the above aside, even when you do get drinks, I am not convinced of the alcohol content, you could simply drink all day here with no alcohol effect at all. Whilst the pools were nice and the lifeguards were great and helpful, you will be pestered all day by people using seriously hard sales techniques to sell you trips and spa treatments / massages and you have to be rude to get rid of them, I am not a rude person and expect once I have politely declined something 3 times for them to get the message, but not here. We did discover later in the stay you can ask for a red flag to display so they don’t pester you, but found that was not effective. Again, I am not sure if this is unique to Egypt as we have not experienced this anywhere else, but not something I enjoy. The worst was the photo guy who conned my niece into us having a family photo shoot and lied about what we would get and then tried to charge us 680 euros for the photos and when we said no obviously reduced the price as is standard practice in Egypt however when we told him we didn’t want them harassed us constantly. All in all, if you are booking a 2/3 star hotel you would most likely be happy here, but 5 star really is seriously pushing it hard. I have recently returned

Incredibly taken care of across my stay. Got very ill one of the days (through no fault of the resort itself), and both the onsite medical services and all staff were incredible in my recovery - a special thanks to Dr Sam. Cleanliness was never an issue, food and drinks were incredible, pools and beach were lovely. Wish we could've stayed longer, will definitely come back!

Very nice place in Makadi Bay. Family rooms are excellent, very large and a lot of space for everyone Food is not exceptional but rather good Diving center is wonderful and top quality. The service and the staff are horrible, especially at the pool bar.

We recently stayed at Cleopatra Luxury Makadi and had an absolutely lovely experience. This wasn’t our first visit – and it certainly won’t be the last. The resort is stunning, with plenty of beautiful green areas that make it feel peaceful and relaxing. Our room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The food at the main restaurant was excellent – fresh, tasty, and with a great variety every day. The beach is beautiful and has a nice snorkeling spot with clear water and colorful fish. The pool is also great – clean . Big thanks to Mr Emad at the reception, he welcomed us warmly and made our check-in experience smooth and quick. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation!

Had a wonderful time at Cleopatra, the staff are very accommodating and make sure that everything is taken care of, the resort is absolutely stunning and very clean. Rooms are spacious and are cleaned daily. The food is amazing and has a large variety of dishes. The beach is clean and has beautiful clear water, great for snorkelling. We did not get ill eating any of the food at the hotel. Even after some mishaps on our part the staff were happy to help and did all they could to accommodate us. Can not fault this place at all we hope to return soon.

We stayed at the Cleopatra Luxury Beach Resort Makadi Bay from May 30 to June 8, 2025. We chose this hotel expecting a peaceful and comfortable Adults-Only 5-star luxury experience with good food, high service quality and a relaxing atmosphere. Some of these expectations were met – many, unfortunately, were not. First the positives: The resort enjoys a truly beautiful location directly on the bay. The beach is wide, the water crystal clear, and the grounds are spacious, green and well-maintained. There are multiple pools, a large spa with massage offerings, two main restaurants, several bars, and a dedicated Adults-Only section. Walking paths are wide, well-lit even at night, and accessible via ramps and elevators where needed – ideal for leisurely strolls during cooler morning or evening hours. A highlight of our trip was the “Extra Divers” dive center, which is professionally run, exceptionally well organised, and offers access to a spectacular house reef and top-tier dive sites nearby. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced diver, this facility is a real asset to the resort. Another strength is the staff. Without exception, the employees were courteous, warm, helpful and consistently trying their best to make guests feel welcome. From reception to housekeeping, from restaurant staff to beach bar – this team deserves real credit. The resort owes much of its atmosphere and service level to their commitment. Now to the critical points: Despite its branding as a “Luxury Resort”, the hotel does not live up to that standard in several key areas. Our room (Adults-Only section, 1210) was clearly in need of renovation. Fixtures were loose, the showerhead and taps showed heavy calcification, mirror fittings were unstable, and door seals were visibly worn. The air conditioning was loud even on its lowest setting, and the entrance door lacked sound insulation – we were regularly disturbed by noise from other guests or the dive center’s cylinder handling starting before 9:00 a.m. Furniture was visibly scuffed, the lamp shades dusty and slightly stained, the water kettle heavily worn with residue inside. Upon arrival, the water for brushing teeth was missing, the provided cup appeared used, and slippers were not available – although these were later supplied after we informed reception. The “Waterfront” Adults-Only restaurant disappointed in both atmosphere and food offering. Many indoor chairs were worn and cracked, and some outdoor seating was dirty or neglected. While there was plenty of food, the variety over time was limited. Several meat dishes repeated with little variation, and lighter options were rare. Although there were vegetarian and some vegan dishes, they were inconsistently labeled – in fact, labeling of food in general was often unclear or entirely absent. This is a serious issue for allergy sufferers. At the live cooking station, pans were only wiped down, not cleaned, between different types of dishes – even when seafood or shell
