"Location is good, easier accessible from the bus station and within 3 minutes walk from the Yubatake. But it is surrounded by construction and therefore the view is not attractive. Service quality is good, staff are friendly, helpful and responsive. Food quality overall is fine. Yet tradition Japanese cuisine would make the experience of an onsen vacation whole more than fusion cuisine. Choice of onsen is limited versus the price level. Only 1 public bath is available. The 4 rental baths add more to the range of choice but they are quite quickly occupied."

"This is a hotel with a long history since the Edo period. It is 2 minutes away from the bus station and Yuten. The hotel's meticulous service is meticulous and thoughtful, with a smile on your face, and the special apple juice is very delicious. The dinner is Kaiseki cuisine, and you can experience it one dish at a time. The food is quite rich. Special praise for Liu San who can speak Chinese. The service is very good, which makes us communicate barrier-free and feel at ease. The hot spring is also very comfortable. I have never experienced such a service-oriented hotel. Thank you again for the excellent service provided by Kusatsu Golden Green Hotel. Recommend everyone to experience it."

A stay at Kusatsu Onsen Futabaya places you in the heart of Kusatsu, steps from Yubatake and Jizo Hot Spring. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite. Bathrooms have showers and complimentary toiletries. Conveniences include electric kettles and blackout drapes/curtains, and housekeeping is provided daily.

"Although the hotel is small, it has a very good location and is convenient for going anywhere in the central area. It takes about 3 to 5 minutes to walk after getting off the bus. It's just that the name of the store is a little small, so if you don't understand Japanese, you may not notice it. Because the name on Ctrip is translated into Chinese, and the actual store name is in Japanese. The hotel has two small hot spring pools, and only one room can enter at a time. You basically have to wait for half an hour to soak each time. However, there are many places to soak in hot springs outside, so if you are not so obsessed with soaking in the hotel, it's no problem. The first thing I did when I arrived at the hotel was to search for delicious restaurants nearby. I found a restaurant called Kamameshi, which looked good, but because I couldn't make an online reservation, I could only queue up at the door. So I waited for more than an hour in the cold wind. It was so cold during the waiting process that I soaked my feet in the foot bath next to it. Facts have proved that even if there are many people queuing up, it is not necessarily a delicious restaurant. The expectations are high, but the actual situation is very average, and the menu variety is also very small. I will never go to the store a second time unless there is really nothing to eat. I guess many people queuing up are also following the trend like me, out of curiosity. In addition, when you go out, bring the bath towel and small towel provided by the hotel, so that you can take a bath at any time, because the hot springs outside do not provide towels, and some places even need to pay to rent them. When you arrive at the place, first buy a package ticket for the three major hot springs, stamp each place, and you will be issued a certificate of completion after taking three baths, so you can take a photo to commemorate it. Kusatsu Onsen is not big, and the attractions are very concentrated, which is quite suitable for lazy people like me, and they are all within walking distance. I personally think that planning a good itinerary is enough for two days and one night. Finally, it is still quite cold these days, so remember to wear thicker clothes, bring hats and earmuffs, because it is really cold."

"Pros: 1. The room was incredibly spacious, with 4 beds even though we were only a party of 3. The mountain view from the room was fantastic! 2. Overall cleanliness was good. 3. Excellent location near Yubatake, where local shops and dining options are plentiful. 4. The private onsen was amazing, with a convenient button to refill hot water into the tub. 5. Special afternoon and evening times offered free food at the lounges, including ice cream, turnip soup, sausages, noodles, and special amenities like complimentary interdental brushes and facial masks. 6. Hotel staff provided excellent and efficient service. 7. Dinner was a delightful 7-course meal, with each evening featuring a different menu. 8. Breakfast was quite good with a decent variety. 9. The complimentary parking area was spacious with plenty of spots, located right next to the hotel entrance. Cons: 1. There isn't much to criticise about the place. Perhaps the breakfast spread could vary slightly each day."

"The only photos of the accommodation were of breakfast because I was busy resting, but it was really great. Location: 3 minutes from Yubatake / 5 minutes from Otaki no Yu (best value for money) Service: They gave me a sign saying they couldn't speak English, but they somehow understood everything with an interpreter and provided all the services. Facilities: Best value for money. There's a bathhouse on the first floor, but no one was using it, so I went alone in the early morning and took a bath. (There was no hair dryer in the room, so I just washed up in the first floor bathhouse.) They even left my luggage after I checked out in the morning. I would visit again."

"I recently had the pleasure of staying at Tokinoniwa Onsen Hotel, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in a sense of tranquility and luxury that defines a perfect Japanese ryokan stay. The hotel effortlessly blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern comforts. The staff were exceptionally warm and attentive, ensuring every aspect of the stay was seamless. The check-in process was smooth, and the hospitality throughout my visit was outstanding. The tatami-style room was beautifully designed, offering both elegance and comfort. The highlight was the private open-air onsen on the balcony, where I could soak in the natural hot spring water while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. The serene ambiance made it a truly rejuvenating experience."

Outstanding
GGuest UserThis was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

KKidddThe hot spring hotel is very close to Yubatake. The Yubatake is beautiful at night. The hotel's Keishi cuisine is delicious and well presented. There is also a QR code for breakfast and dinner to let you scan and explain what each dish is. They are very attentive. The hot springs are also very comfortable. They are switched between morning and evening, so you can soak in the hot springs on both sides. The waiters were very nice and provided warm hospitality. I will definitely stay here again next time I have the opportunity.

LLeslie CulhaneHotel Ichii is right in the heart of Kusatsu, so that is awesome. The onsen facilities are very clean and organized. However, our room was disappointing - perhaps because we are used to western style rooms. Our Japanese style room in the annex had no storage - other than the wardrobe where the yukata are stored and you could hang a couple of coats, there was nothing. Since the table in the center of the room was moved each morning and night by the staff to lay out the futons, we didn’t feel comfortable leaving a lot on the table. The futons were clearly old and the comforter on top was stained. There were only the towels meant to be used in the onsen - there were only very thin paper towels for the sink, which seemed very wasteful. Our rooms were located in the annex and while we could get hot water for the in room bath, there water in the sink was barely tepid. The smoking room on the second floor by the passage to the main building made the whole area smell. So if we hadn’t paid up front, we would have left early.

SSRL13064Excellent service. I will give 10 out of 5 if I could. There was a staff who rushed out to us and asked if we were going to stay at the Ryokan. Very helpful for lost travelers overwhelmed by the cold weather. Greeted us warmly when we arrived. Explained the important information to us as best as they could in English, which is perfectly fine. Room was big. Decorated meticulously in the traditional Japanese style. Yukata and Obi provided added on to the immersive experience. Dinner was exquisite. Dishes gave us a taste of what traditional Japanese cuisine was like. The food was sincere (didn’t feel like frozen / canned / ready made food), served and plated meticulously. There were 2 onsens, indoor and outdoor. They were clean and spacious enough. Water (I believe) is from the hot spring nearby and was immensely therapeutic. Ryokan was near the heart of the town and everything was within walking distance. Kindly shuttled us to the bus terminal when we checked out (we didn’t have to wait for fixed timings) and carried our (heavy) luggage. All in all, we enjoyed the one night stay very much and they set a high bar for Japanese hospitality.

GGuest UserI stayed in a Western-style room this time. Overall, it's good! The bed is very small and the mattress is bad! But you can sleep on tatami in the room, which is great. I highly recommend it. The tatami mat is softer than the bed~ The price-performance ratio is high in terms of dinner and breakfast, which makes me feel that breakfast and dinner are enough for the room fee. It is suitable for friends who go out during the day and only come back at night to eat and take a short nap. I have to praise the service, the staff are all good. The location is OK, but the elderly over 70 years old are a little worried about climbing the slope.

GGuest UserIt was close to the bus terminal and the Yubatake, so I was able to take walks there and there. The room was spacious, but it was old, so I could hear footsteps and other sounds quite often, which was quite a shock. Only four people could use the bath at a time. The staff were very friendly.

GGuest UserOverall staying in this hotel was pleasant, and it was of great value considering the package had already included dinner and breakfast buffet. Regarding location, it was a bit far from the bus terminal by walking. It took us about 15 minutes, as the route by Google was not quite correct. The main entrance of the hotel was up on a slope, which was not as easy as we were carrying luggage. Remember to ask the front desk for the password of the back gate. It was a short cut route leading to the main shopping street and the Kusatsu Yubatake. The room was pleasant and clean, a bit too basic. There was only a socket near the tv wall, not close to the bed, which was a bit inconvenient. There was wide range of food in the buffet, with some interesting local dishes. Food was delicious. The hotel also offer free late night snack noodle, which worth trying too.

MMimimiJinma hotels are very old A lot of things have aged A bit like the hotel in my parents' days Not very comfortable Personally I think it’s suitable for a group of friends to get together Not suitable for couples or families And it’s a long way from the scenic spot The only advantage is that he is in a hotel isolated from another tourist attraction There is a shuttle bus

NNat_SThe location is perfect, right on the main square. But this ryokan doesn’t ready for foreign travelers, even Signboard only in Japanese. Workers doesn’t speak English also. And there is no kayseki dinner. In the room you’ll have matcha tea and beautiful tableware, traditional clothes. For breakfast you should choose time 7:30 or 8:30 and it’s so big (2 photo), but for me was very salty. There is two onsen - outside and inside on different floors.
