It’s a bit hard to get to the hotel from bus terminal if u have luggage with u as it’s a downslope to get to the hotel. There’s also isn’t any lift in the hotel so we have to carry our luggage up to the second floor. We realised when we checked out that there’s actually locker for the luggage at the ground floor. There’s only one type of water in their public onsen which is kind of disappointing as we have high expectations since it is an onsen town. The onsen water however is good. We do feel some difference before and after onsen. There’s also free coffee & hot chocolate drinks right outside the onsen area. It would be better if there’s ice water in the onsen area as the water can get very hot & especially when there’s no cold tub there. The room however is spacious with comfortable bed. There’s also a foot bath located at the ground floor of the hotel right beside the breakfast area.

We are traveling by car. The hotel has enough parking spaces and the room for 3 people is quite spacious. However, the toilet and bathroom are separated, and the toilet does not have a wash basin, which is very inconvenient. The open-air bath environment is very good. But when we checked in, the clerk who received us was a foreigner (not Japanese). I wonder if he had just arrived. He asked many of my colleagues for questions, and he couldn't understand English, so it took a lot of time. There is a shuttle bus which makes it very convenient to go to and from Yubata.

If you walk for about 5 minutes from the Kusatsu Onsen bus stop, you will see the Kusatsu Onsen main street Yubatake, and this is a hot spring inn located right behind the Yubatake.
The facilities look quite old,
but the interior is neat and tidy.
The hot spring inside the building is located on the first floor,
but the interior feels a bit cramped,
but when I went in, there weren't many users, so it wasn't inconvenient.
The view around the hot spring is nice, so it's okay,
but the service at the izakaya nearby is terrible, so I don't recommend going to this izakaya.

This is our second time staying here. It is very nice here. The service at the counter is friendly and good. The most important thing is that the food here is very delicious. The hotel is not afraid of people eating too much, but they are afraid that you will not eat enough! Their dinner portions are huge!
The steak is tender and juicy, the seafood is fresh and delicious, the ingredients are all high-quality ingredients, the Japanese-style room is large, the scenery outside the window is beautiful, and the hot spring makes the skin very smooth. I would like to stay here again if I come to Kusatsu next time. Living here makes you feel like home ❤️

I specially love the onsen. Robe n slippers had prepared in room for your usage.

Excellent service. I will give 10 out of 5 if I could.
There was a staff who rushed out to us and asked if we were going to stay at the Ryokan. Very helpful for lost travelers overwhelmed by the cold weather. Greeted us warmly when we arrived. Explained the important information to us as best as they could in English, which is perfectly fine.
Room was big. Decorated meticulously in the traditional Japanese style. Yukata and Obi provided added on to the immersive experience.
Dinner was exquisite. Dishes gave us a taste of what traditional Japanese cuisine was like. The food was sincere (didn’t feel like frozen / canned / ready made food), served and plated meticulously.
There were 2 onsens, indoor and outdoor. They were clean and spacious enough. Water (I believe) is from the hot spring nearby and was immensely therapeutic.
Ryokan was near the heart of the town and everything was within walking distance.
Kindly shuttled us to the bus terminal when we checked out (we didn’t have to wait for fixed timings) and carried our (heavy) luggage.
All in all, we enjoyed the one night stay very much and they set a high bar for Japanese hospitality.

There seems to be only one hotel staff, but he is very enthusiastic. If you arrive early, you can store your luggage first. It is very close to the hot springs. The hot springs are private, so couples or families can bathe together without additional charges. Great

Excellent stay! Hotel may be old but the facilities are up to date and clean. Service from staff is also generally good. 7mins walk to Sainokaiwara Park via the short cut. It’s a 15mins walk from Yubatake and you’ll need to walk up a slope to get to the hotel, may be strenuous for those with luggages. There’s a shuttle bus to and fro hotel to Yubatake every hourly, refer to photo. There’s even a shuttle bus to Takasaki train station, so ask the staff for details. Breakfast in hotel is excellent and very homely, overall enjoyed my stay here and will recommend friends to come!

Outstanding
主主婦客The hotel waiter is super polite, the breakfast reservation time is very punctual, the food is different every morning, every day is Western breakfast not Japanese, the setting is very thoughtful and not sloppy, especially the Pi Mai bread 🍞 style has two or three, Every kind of super good food, good room facilities The room is super large, clean and tidy, the only drawback is to go downstairs to the bathhouse to take a shower, the room does not have a bathroom only has toilet facilities, back to Tokyo or elsewhere is convenient, long distance bus terminal It is next door, less than 3 minutes walk, there is a LAWSON downstairs from the hotel, there is a ramen shop next to the hotel, the price is not expensive, if you walk to other restaurants, there are about 5 or 6 minutes, there are Western, Japanese, grilled Meat, burger shops, can go and experience
CCCSandyI chose a Western-style room the night before, and I chose a Japanese-style room tonight. I enjoy a different experience. The Japanese-style room is also very spacious and clean. In the evening, the staff will help us make the bed during dinner time without having to do it yourself. I slept comfortably for one night and the overall feeling was not bad. Japanese-style rooms are cheaper, and Japanese-style rooms are recommended in Japan 😄
小小扭扭粉The hotel's facilities and hygiene are very good
There is a kitchen and public space
The only drawback is that there is no private bathroom
So you need to wait for public showers and toilets
Because the hotel location is relatively remote
The landscape is very beautiful on snowy days
But it will be more difficult on the way to the hotel
Because there is a lot of snow and steep slopes
GGuest UserThe service is very kind, the food is average, the drink coffee is unlimited self-service, the hot springs are soaked separately, and do not have to be with others. Overall very recommended
GGuest UserLoved this traditional ryokan in kusatsu right next to the hot spring in the city center. They have a private onsen to use for free upon availability which we enjoyed a lot.
The staff was very friendly and the breakfast with view to the spring is definitely a highlight.
GGuest UserNext to the hotel is a free Jizo soup and a praying Jizo statue shrine. From Shinjuku Bus Station to Kusatsu Onsen Bus Station, a 5-minute walk to the hotel. The path to the hotel went uphill and downhill, in front of which is the Seven Star Hotel, and behind is the hotel where I live. This hotel is even more convenient for the Pochizo soup. There is a sign on the ground of the road, and at the bifurcation, it indicates which side of Jizo Soup and Tangliao (same as google map navigation). The hotel is very close to Yufu (the main valve of the hot spring village, which diverts hot springs with more than 80 degrees, not soaked). The Japanese-style hotel is very spacious and clean, and can't smoke. An authentic breakfast is served in the morning and is highly recommended.
The video I recorded seems to only upload pictures. The Japanese-style hotel environment is great.
SSOO CHOONIt is a good accommodation, old.. You can soak in hot springs ♨️ but the temperature is too high 🥹 The room is relatively small.. Breakfast is provided and the taste is ordinary.. The location can walk to the fine soup, which is convenient..
GGuest UserI couldn't stay because of the boiler room failure, but I was able to spend a good time with the correspondence of the alternative hotel on the day. I would like to stay again this time if I have a chance to go to Kusatsu again!
山山水圓方We took the Karuizawa bus to Kusatsu and walked to the hotel from the bus terminal. After passing Yubata, Google map showed that it took 15 minutes. There were up and down slopes along the way, especially the triple slope next to the hotel. It was very difficult to drag the luggage. There were no taxis and the bus took an hour. class. On the return trip, take the bus back to Tokyo, walk on a relatively flat slope, and pass by Kosenji Shopping Street, which takes about half an hour.
Both dinner and breakfast are buffets, with average taste and plenty of portions and varieties.
The room is quite big. The bathtub in the room is not open-air. The public bath is also indoors. The bathtub is not big. Fortunately, there are only a few people at a time.
旅旅するJapaneseIt was located right from Yubata and was very convenient location.
There is also a free parking lot, which is very useful when you come to sightseeing by car.
