Kathmandu Hostels

Great location, beautiful surrounding atmosphere, great staff. Most friendly and helpful receptionist and staff ever, lovely and great first impression of Holiday hostel. Everything about the holiday hostel was exceptional. Holiday hostel was clean, stylish, excellent service in where I had dinner. Food was good and service was attentive and efficient. The room itself was well equipped and comfortable. I was very pleased with my stay. I have been staying here for more than one week I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.🙂

They are very welcoming, and the reception staff was awesome. They accept international visa card. Every floor have a nice balcony for gossiping, eating coffee and smoking. With this budget, best hotel. My room was 404. Problems: 1. The telephone was not dead. 2. Curtains are very thin so in the morning you can't sleep in the sunlight. 3. The doors and windows are very old, that's why if someone is talking outside of the room you will hear everything and maybe they also hear you. 4. They just provide tissue and soap, they didn’t provide toothbrush, toothpaste, or shampoo. So if you booked this hotel keep this with you. 5. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, so if you don't like the stairs, is it not for you and you can talk to the hotel before booking for the 2nd floors room.

In the Tamil area, but not the most central one. The room is normal, not dirty but not very comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is that the waiter is very helpful and helpful. For backpackers with a budget, this hotel is still worth recommending.

Staff were really helpful and friendly, the hostel had a good vibe, the showers were hot, WiFi was really good, breakfast was nice and cheap, they let us keep our stuff there for free while trekking for 20 days as long as we stayed one night when we come back which we were more than happy too, we stayed 8 nights in total. Highly recommended for young travelers

I stayed several nights in the Hotel Sohum. One night before our trekking expedition in Langtang, three nights before a yoga and meditation retreat and another six nights after. The place is really great !!! Perfect location in a quiet and peaceful area of Thamel, only a five minutes walk away from it’s center. The rooms and showers are nice and clean and the mattresses very comfortable. And everything for reasonable prices. Tilak the owner and his daughter Monika are very hospitable, friendly and helpful hosts. They can also give a lot of useful hints and tips regarding trekking and sightseeing in Nepal and about the best yoga and meditation retreats in the outskirts of Kathmandu. There is a lot of informative literature about it in the reception area. Tilak also runs one of the oldest trekking organizations in town with more than 25 years of experience in this business field. So Sohum Hotel is not only a cozy place to stay, but a place to book your trekking adventures and outdoor activities in the Himalayas

I stayed here twice in between an EBC hike. I stayed in one of the four bed dorms on the 2nd floor.The bunks are custom made and very solid. You wouldn't even know there was a bunkmate. Each bed came with a cabinet, an electrical outlet and private light. Sadly the cabinet was too small to fit any kind of travel bag and everyone had to keep their luggage either on the floor or on the steps to the bunks. The mattress is firm Asian style, but comfortable. The duvet is thick. Useful in the cold Kathmandu nights, but too hot for a Scot when it starts to warm up in the morning. There was one shared bathroom on the floor, but there was never a long wait. The bathroom room had an open shower, toilet and sink. There were never any problems getting hot water in the shower or sink. The bathroom is cleaned multiple times per day, so kudos for that. The hotel has an attached spa where I got a massage a couple of times after my EBC trek. The masseuses here are fantastic and provided an excellent deep tissue massage. Location wise, the hotel is located in the popular Thamel area. Virtually everything you need is on the doorstep. Shops for clothing & hiking, restaurants, supermarkets and souvenir shops are all within walking distance. Overall, I had an excellent and comfortable stay. The staff are friendly and welcoming in that Nepali manner for which they are rightly known for. I would happily stay again.

This place took my breathe away. Rooms are very neat and clean and COMFORTABLE. Separate shower and washroom are the perfect add on. Staffs are really helpfull, They know all the answers of my question. They even have a travel desk where you can book the trek and day tours. Oh let's not forget the restaurant they have.. AMAZING FOOD AMAZING STAFF GREAT AMBIENCE. This ia basically bagpackkers paradise🙂 Loved Everything about this place.

I was in Nepal for a long time, so I was really happy to find a hotel at this price. The owner was very nice and the service was good. They also helped us get a taxi when we went out. The breakfast was good and you had to pay for it separately. I will stay in this hotel again next time. The hot water is very helpful. Qiang Lei recommends this hotel
