I would not recommend to stay at YHA Hobart Central. I have stayed with the YHA for the past 13 years and all around the world, and never have I been treated so attrociously! In December 2022 I booked a private room with an ensuite, to then stay in March 2023. I had confirmed my booking, paid my booking, and on departure from Melbourne to Hobart my plane was delayed. I rang the hostel to let them know I was still coming but there will be a delay in my flight. I was told no worries, you will receive a text message with your room number and pin number, in which I didn't receive. I rang back just before the plane took off, and the receptionist gave me the room number and pin number. On arrival to the property it was late, I headed up to my room, put the pin number in and entered the room. As I walked in I was greeted by a male and his partner! We were all in shock! I had been able to enter their room. I rang the after hours reception number in which I was greeted by a very rude receptionist, who continued to say that the hostel was fully booked for that night! I said to her, ”well sorry you need to sort something out, I have booked and paid for this room back in December, I have just been able to walk into someone else's room with the number I was given and now you are telling me the hostel is fully booked!” She continued to smack both fist down on the bench, using profusive language and telling me to get out.” I am still in disbelief I walked in to a room that was given to me as mine, but I was greeted with another couple in it already! I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND TO STAY IN THIS HOSTEL!!!

I stayed at a Imperial backpackers two years ago and was very keen to persuade my four friends to stay with me this time. Frustratingly, a bunch of little irritating things add up to a negative review, when actually Imperial backpackers should be a great place to stay. The kitchen is great, with lots of equipment and fridges and space for your food. The hot water in the bathrooms takes a while but it’s really hot when it does come through. Beds are comfy and the room had an efficient heater. And there’s a guy called John who is so helpful – he was a guest last time. I was there, but now he works for the organisation. All in all, it should be a five star place. However, in the past couple of years, I don’t think they’ve done much maintenance In our room, the locker doors were either locked shut or couldn’t be shut (and there was no place to put the padlock that the website suggested we bring!). Our flyscreens were also badly torn, while in our friends’ room across the hall, there were gaps at bottom and top of the windows, which let in both freezing blasts of winter air, and the hideous smell of cigarette smoke from directly beneath the windows. Stuffing several towels in the gap eventually did the trick, but it shouldn’t be necessary. And there’s a bunch of inaccurate/ misleading/ dangerous signage. Firstly, there are 2 huge fire doors as you climb the stairs from the night entrance. They both have large signs saying they must be kept shut at all times (they are, after all, fire doors). But they are both left open all the time, and I was told have been for a while. On the main entrance door, opposite reception, the biggest sign says office house are 9-5.30pm (same as last time) but right below it is another sign saying office hours are 9.30-230pm This shorter opening time impacted our stay in several ways,l. With that office only open from 930 to 230pm, eerything else is “ after hours”. So, if you want to use the laundry - you pay a deposit and a per hour fee - you have to do so between 930 and 2:30 pm. If you want to leave your bags during the day, after checking out at 10 am, you can only do so till 2:30 pm. (Last time we left our bags until 5pm , when we got the Skybus to the airport(. We phoned the Imperial number, at 3pm on day 2 , to ask for a second key to our room, and we’re told that there would be an “after hours fee” of $20, even though it was still 3 pm. None of this happened on our first visit, and the website doesn’t mention that all the services mentioned are only available 5 hours/ day. So, like I said, I should be giving a great rating, but I’d go for 2 1/2 stars.

GGuest UserMy two week stay at the Argyle Motor Lodge confirmed for me that this establishment is, in my opinion, the best value accomodation in Hobart. The lodge is conveniently located for access to downtown Hobart, the northern suburbs and the major highways. There is a thriving cafe and restaurant culture in Newtown and North Hobart that is very convenient to the lodge. The front of house staff and housekeeping were accomodating and helpful. In reception, Yvette was on point in assisting with bookings, facilities and local knowledge. A first class representative. Selena and her housekeeping team were courteous and efficient in maintaining my suite. Of particular note and not always the case in suites with kitchen facilities, used cutlery is replaced with clean, paper packaged utensils. I highly recommend the Argyle for short or longer term stays.

Beautiful comfortable suite of rooms perfect for a few days away. Love that the room has a sitting area with couch, table and chairs. Plenty of room for luggage. plenty of off street parking. Has the most amazing water pressure in shower, shower is a little small. but the water pressure makes up for it. Cant find any real faults. Perfect spot for a business trip.

We had a room for the disabled and it was fantastic. Why can't every other motel I've had to stay in do a room like the Mayfair does for those in wheelchairs? The room was larger to accommodate a wheelchair and the bathroom was fitted out with a sink you could actually reach while seated, there were handholds around the shower which had a built-in seat (so important for those of us who can't stand in a shower) and bars around the toilet. I loved the overnight stay, and it was the first time I could have a shower without feeling fearful simply because of a seat in the cubicle and an extended handheld shower head. Not only was the room amazing, but the motel location was also brilliant with stores close by. The indoor garden was an added gift to a motel I'd definitely stay in whenever I'm in Hobart.

ZZHONGXUANThe hotel environment is very clean and tidy. Although the restroom and bathroom are shared, the environment is very good. Opposite is the wow supermarket, very convenient. The restaurant on the first floor has cutlery, bread, and milk juice in the refrigerator. The hotel staff is also very friendly. In short, the experience is very good, suitable for young people to live. It is said that this hotel is 180 years old.

GGuest UserWe stayed at the Waterfront for 21 days, using it as a base for our road trip. We had two rooms between three of us, and the budget price couldn’t be beaten for this type of accommodation. The motel is of the old style but has been maintained quite well with bright and comfortable rooms. Room facilities are good, kitchenettes with toaster, microwave, plates and cutlery, plus a communal kitchen to use. The rooms and linen were very clean. We weren’t disturbed by any noise even when the motel was fully occupied(it’s very popular). The location is excellent. There is a bus stop just down the road, the 561 and 562 buses run on the hour and get you into Hobart central in about twenty minutes. A shopping centre with a Coles and other stores is a ten minute drive away. I enjoyed my stay, the staff were so pleasant and obliging. I would thoroughly recommend this motel.

GGuest UserI had a great stay at the Hobart Tower Motel. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything needed. I stayed for 6 nights, and was very satisfied. The motel is quite central to town, close to takeaway shops- while being out of the hustle of the city. It is just a short 10 minute drive into the heart of Hobart though too. Staff were always helpful and friendly. I also enjoyed learning about the history of the tower, and getting to go inside. The view from the top was spectacular (see attached picture). I definitely recommend this place to other travellers!

AAnonymous UserI stayed at this youth hostel in Hobart for four days to give you some reference. 1. The landlord will thoughtfully send check-in information to your email before check-in. It is very convenient to check in unattended, which is very suitable for i people. Moreover, the landlord here is Chinese and there is no language barrier. 2. This youth hostel has only 2 washing machines and 2 dryers with 41 beds. During my stay, there was only 1 washing machine (one of the washing machines was broken and the washing machine usage time was limited). Although it is not completely impossible to wash clothes, But I need to find every opportunity to do laundry. We all live in a youth hostel, so I can overcome this difficulty, and then! I found that the dryer won't dry my clothes! Because I couldn't wash my clothes, I washed them in the bathroom one day and put them in the dryer. They didn't dry for two hours. Once I put the clothes in the washing machine for washing. Time was tight. It took 30 minutes to dry two clothes, but one was not dry. Reminder: Try to bring as many sets as possible to change. If the clothes are not dry enough and will stay longer, you can hang them by the bed and dry them overnight. Also, the laundry detergent of the youth hostel is on a grid-like shelf after entering the lobby. Don’t be like me and only found the laundry detergent on the last day after staying for four days! 😭 3. The hygiene condition of the youth hostel is much better than that of many youth hostels. In particular, the bedding and towels are very clean and the sleeping environment is very comfortable. Everyone will try their best to maintain a quiet sleeping environment. The hygiene level of toilets and shower rooms is tolerable. The hall was also very clean and bright, and I personally saw that every public water cup was wiped. 4. The staff at the youth hostel were very slow in replenishing shampoo, shower gel, and hand sanitizer. I think girls use these a lot, so they should at least check whether they are sufficient every day. But the staff may only visit once every two or three days. There are two girls' bathrooms. Except for the shower gel and shampoo on the first day, there is no shampoo in the first cubicle on the second day, and there is no shower gel in the second cubicle on the third day. On the fourth day, I studied Be smart, check if both sides are there before taking a shower, and then! The first stall had nothing and the second stall had no shower gel. Moreover, the hand sanitizer in the girls' restroom has been out since the third day, and it was not replenished on the fourth day. 😓 5. In terms of safety, it is still okay. At least if you put the bag in the aisle, no one will take it at will, and the food in the refrigerator will not be taken away at will. At least my Cheerilee was safe there for three days. but! I don’t understand why there are boys in the hotel I booked in the girls’ area for two nights! Although most of them are girls, why are there one or two boys? I think this is an oversight by the hotel, but the boys didn't cause much trouble to my sleep, so I didn't complain. I hope this aspect needs to be improved. p.s. I heard other residents, girls and boys, reminding me that this is a girls’ area, but the boy didn’t know what he said and couldn’t hear clearly, so he checked in! 6. This hotel does not have a late check-out service, but Ctrip marked that you can have a late check-out at 2 o'clock in the local area and an early check-in of 4 hours (I don't know if the early check-in service exists), so I used some points to redeem the service. Later, It was time to clean at 10 o'clock in the morning. I went out to play for a while and wanted to come back and take a nap before leaving. I asked the hotel cleaning staff and they said that there was no such service and the room had been cleaned at 10 o'clock. I reported this problem to Ctrip, and Ctrip quickly handled it for me and ended the problem by compensating me part of the amount. But if you haven't gone to the airport yet, you can store your luggage in the hotel. From my current point of view, it's very safe. 7. The lobby of the youth hostel has normal sockets in Australia, and the sleeping area only has USB plugs, so you can bring a USB plug for convenient charging, which is quite fast. Also remember to bring a mouthwash cup, toothbrush, toothpaste, and slippers. Have a nice trip everyone.
