So we stayed at this hotel several times since they’ve refurbished in 2023. The location is very convenient for myself whether I come with family or when it’s for business because I need to head to SZ regularly and it’s right on the east rail line. Rooms are good size compared to the Hk island /Kowloon Island side and generally clean. Check in , sometimes you get a miserable person but generally they are ok polite. We’ve requested a baby bed protection barrier on check in, however waited for nearly an hour and had to request it again. This time , however I was extremely angry because i on purposely set the room to do not disturb because sometimes I’m rushing in and out of the hotel and at times I leave things unattended. I came back realising that room service had entered the room! What is the point of having a do not disturb option for the room! What happens if I have things stolen or missing ? The in house department contacted somebody to directly apologise but partly blame the front desk. On check out the front desk did not mention anything. Great communication or they were just hoping I don’t mention anything ?! I will still continue using this hotel , but I will make sure to put everything in the safe as they don’t seem to respect the do not disturb button and am prepared for some of the grumpy staff there purely because it’s convenient for me. We stayed in room 904 26th-28th Nov .

Stayed here for many times and surprisingly got upgraded to a HUGE room! Very good service and good amenities. They’ve got everything covered so I can just stay there no-brainer-ly. Great experience and will definitely stay there again.

First impression was how clean the room was! The airport bus A41 stops outside the hotel makes up for the location. Nearest walking distance is about 8 minutes to either City One or Shek Mun MTR station. The hotel has a complimentary shuttle to MTR and central Shatin where there is the main bus stop for other routes. The staff at the hotel was helpful. We stayed there for a few nights on arrival at HK and left couple of big suitcases there whilst we travelled light to cross the border to China. We did book to return to Alva for couple more nights on our return to HK before departing back to the UK. For the price, cleanliness and the helpful staff, we definitely will return to Alva hotel.

This is a hotel that loves to show off about its facilities like a swimming pool and a gym but it fails to get the basics right. There are no sockets next to the bed so you can't charge you phone or computer which relaxing in bed. The part of the room where the kettle and tea are doesn't have socket either (please see photo) so I had to move the kettle to next to the TV to boil water. The wifi was unaccessable. I rang the reception - no resposnse. I had to go all the way downstairs to get assistance with this. When I mentioned that nobody answered the phone all the could say is 'we're busy' - no apology. Finally I paid for the shuttle bus. A receipt was not even provided so I was concerned whther they would even remember that I had paid for it. These may all seem like small things but together they add up to a very unfulfilling experience. Unless you are really desperate for a cheap hotel, I wouldn't recommend staying here.s

Family friendly. Clean and nice hotel. Location is nice too, 6-7mins from the MTR where the shops and restaurants are located. Breakfast is underwhelming though. All-in-all, it was a good stay and I can consider coming back.
