A very comfortable place to stay and conveniently located to visit the temples of Hiraizumi. We walked from the ryokan. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food for breakfast and dinner was superb. The presentation of the food was exquisite. Thoroughly recommended.

It was great. I stayed at Chusonji Temple for one night. The surrounding environment is very good. I couldn't finish breakfast and dinner. The service was very warm. More than 900 for breakfast and dinner, so worth it.

Friendly service, choose the one-stay, two-meal plan. The meals are Japanese-style and creative cuisine, which is different from the Japanese kaiseki cuisine commonly seen in hot spring hotels in the past. It is a very special experience and I can feel the store's intentions. The small bathhouse is open 24 hours a day, so it's good to simply take a bath. The room is simple and clean. It comes with a tea set and original leaf tea bags. You can simply make tea and take a rest. It is very comfortable!

The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Hiraizumi Station. It is more convenient to walk to Motsuji Temple and then take the bus here to Chusonji Temple. The staff of the small hotel are very warm and polite, the food is fresh and delicious, and the price is very nice. There is also a small swimming pool in the hotel to relieve the fatigue of the journey.

The hotel next to Motsuji Temple is either a hot spring or a hot water bath. In terms of price, it's a bit expensive.

The hotel facilities are very new and the service is warm and welcoming. It is a few minutes away from Motsuji Temple. Especially the food in the hotel is amazing. I will definitely choose Maizuru next time I go to Hiraizumi.

One of our best dinners in Japan! The hotel is overall simple, but perfectly comfortable, with a typical Japanese sense of perfect accommodation. There is a small sento advertised as a shared bathroom. The hotel is 10mn from the train station, and 20mn from the UNESCO world heritage temple.

This place could have and should have been wonderful. It was our final 3 night accommodation before returning home and we so looked forward to our 10 tatami room with park view. (Description from their website: “New Wing Standard Park View Japanese-Style Room, 10 tatami mats Non-Smoking [no bath, toilet with washer]”). On the website you have to check the Japanese to see the tatami size, in English it shows square meters. You can imagine our shock when we were shown our 6 tatami room. There was hardly enough floor space for the two futons along with the low table and two chairs, let alone luggage for two people on a 6 week Japan trip. Our one window looked out on the parking lot. If you squinted and look to the right you could glimpse the trees bordering Kanjizaiō-in Ato and perhaps the parking lot for Motsuji Temple. We had little interest in a view, but the fact that the room was described as having a “Standard Park View” was very misleading. We tried to arrange for a change of room. We were told there were no vacancies; the ryokan has only 6 rooms. Although there were rooms unoccupied on other nights of our stay, we were not offered them, though we would gladly have changed rooms mid-stay to get more floor space. We were also told there was no difference in price from the 6 tatami to the 10 tatami room so no refund was offered. Had we known this was the room we were going to be given, we would not have made the reservation. We have been coming to Japan twice a year since 1999, and this is the first time we have had such a problem with the room being so different from the one we reserved. As a “make nice” we were given beer free of charge with each of our dinners, but, quite frankly, it was no substitute for our cramped quarters. The baths were very small, probably no more than two people could fit comfortably at a time. The meals were lovingly prepared and served. It’s clear that the point of this ryokan is the food, not the accommodations, though the property was quite new and spotless. The care and attention to detail given by the chef was obvious with each course and each plate chosen specially to enhance the food. The chef or his assistant came to our table and gave us a brief description of each plate; much longer descriptions in Japanese were given to other guests, but we appreciated the chef’s trying to let us know something about the food we were served. I wish there were a way to rate the ryokan for food separate from accommodation. I took what would be our two ratings and averaged them.

Very comfortable inn with bath house. We stayed in a twin western room with bathroom. Had everything we needed. Bed was firm but comfortable. The dinner we had was the “premium” set which was diverse, generous and delicious. Friendly and helpful people!

It's a well done blend of a modern new building with retaining some of the traditional ryokan feel. The dinner served was exquisite to both the eye and the pallat. The bath was small, but hot enough. I have stayed in countless ryokans during my multiple visits to Japan over the past 30 plus years and this was an enjoyable experience

The location is close to Hiraizumi Station and Motsuji Temple, and within walking distance of Chusonji Temple. You can leave your luggage at the inn, so you can walk around the World Heritage site of Hiraizumi. (You can walk to Takkoku-no-Iwaya Bishamon-do Temple if you try, but I recommend renting a bicycle or taking a taxi at the station.) The facilities and rooms are simple, but new, clean, and comfortable. The food is varied, and each dish is carefully prepared, very delicious, and beautiful. Make sure to make a reservation with meals included. The staff are also very friendly. I will come again.

I was surprised by the elaborate and delicious food. The ingredients were carefully prepared and I was impressed by the hospitality. I was also surprised by the variety of dishes. The room was clean and the bath was private and very comfortable. I could hear the voices from the next room a little, so that may not be the same as a hotel. However, everything else was comfortable and there were no problems. Coin laundry and humidifiers are also available. When I thought about the price, I felt sorry that they were making a profit. I would like to use it again when I go to Iwate.

We stayed at Ryokan Maizuru for two nights, near Chusonji Temple and Motsuji Temple, as a place to stay while visiting the Hiraizumi World Heritage Site by car from Yokohama. Since we stayed in Hiraizumi for two nights this time, it was great to be able to take our time to see the World Heritage Site, Chusonji Golden Hall, and other places that we weren't able to see when we visited Genbikei and Geibikei 11 years ago. Ryokan Maizuru is a small inn with six rooms, but the dinner is especially delicious. The melt-in-the-mouth A5 rank Iwate beef teppanyaki and otoro tuna are the best. There are also many other original dishes prepared by the owner. Everything was delicious, and went down well with the food and drinks.
