This very small basic hotel is located a short distance from train street and around a 15 to 20 walk from the lake (depending on how many shops you browse in!). The hotel has maps which proved very handy without wifi, and there are lots of places to eat (although not up market).
The staff/atmosphere is friendly and helpful. On more than one occasion we needed help with failed pick ups etc. it seemed as though nothing was too much trouble!
Some rooms are better than others, so for a little more (around $12 AUD a night) the upgrade is worth it.
Breakfast is basic but ok for around $5.50 AUD per day. However there is a lovely bakery very close by and an excellent coffee shop on the corner if you’d prefer coffee and a pastry.

The location of this hotel was perfect, right in the centre of Hanoi and a short enough walk for everything you need. A cheap hotel that did exactly the job for me and my partner, as we are currently traveling round country to country. The staff were brilliant, however the only thing letting this place down was the availability and ammenties that were to hand.

Helpful staff. Good location. No breakfast provided even though paid. Rooms are a bit small and not same as photos. Upgrade is required.

I booked and paid for a 'suite' but we were given just an 'ordinary double' that was dirty, untidy and not safe.As it was my very first day of holidays after 2 and a half years, like most of the people in the World,I did not want to argue and I just let it go.
Only the location was good.
The staff seemed not to really care about the issues and they were not of any help.
The room was not cleaned to an average standard and they did not even wash or replace the mugs. The mini fridge was dirty and the flip flops too.
The a/c was noisy and we could not really have a good sleep.
I could go on for ages with the review but will now focus on the safety issues.
I would give '0 star' if I could ,only for the safety.
Safety first,no excuses.
The balcony was messy and there was an a/c unit on the floor with some electrical wires sticking out, with a risk of getting some electric shocks. There also were an old table and a chair (we never went to the balcony,as we felt it was dangerous).Part of the balcony was dirty and with mould.
In the shower box, there were flying and exposed electrical wirings connected to the boiler, that we felt to be a risk of electrocution while showering. So we did not shower but we ended up washing bit by bit using a sponge.
You draw your own conclusion.
PS . I have got prooves to support my review.

Train Street is right in front of the hotel, and there are bia hoi shops within walking distance. It is also close to tourist sites such as the Thang Long Water Puppet Theater and Hanoi Cathedral. The location is right between Hanoi Station, where bus stop 86 starts (and ends), and Hoan Kiem Lake, making it the perfect location for a base for sightseeing, including easy access from the airport. However, learning from my past experiences, I was looking for a hotel that had a safety deposit box, and even though I chose one that had a safety deposit box listed in the online facility details, there was none in the end, so I had to carry my valuables with me all the time. It's really troublesome. There was also no tissue paper, no hand towels, no bathrobes, and even more, there was no toilet paper holder, so the paper was placed directly on the floor, Japan TV did not work despite being advertised as a sanitary channel, and there was no shelf in the shower room, so shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and toothpaste were all placed on the floor, which was inconvenient in many ways. I wish the hotel had put a little more thought into their service.

The location is OK, right next to the train street, but there was no hot water for two hours. You get what you pay for. Don't book this place

The manager really went out of her way and was always very friendly, extremely polite, will definitely come back. The location, just great, right in the middle of everything, breakfast was also good, Vietnamese and European.

I went to travel on July 30, 65. I don't know if this is what they call cheating or not. We check-in at 21.40, almost 4 pm, because we get off at 20.30 before checking in, taking a taxi to the hotel takes almost 30-35 minutes. . Said that we do not have a name in the reservation. Even though we booked through the app. Tip.com and pay and then the email has already confirmed the documents. When I went to check in, I said no. Before the departure date, we have sent Email to tell the school that we're going to check in a bit late. because it's late We kept asking why, no, despite having everything behind the booking base. So we asked if there was any room available. We will open a new room, pay new money. Because I don't want to walk to the school because it's late. The school said that the room was full. But less than a minute after we turned our backs from the school, someone went to check in with Vietnamese people and there was an empty room. 😂😂😂😂
📍 PS. The first day, I'm not quite happy. 😂

Small hotel, room size is not very big according to the price.
Late at night, the hotel closes the entrance door.

I don't know which room these photos are from, but it's not one of the 4 rooms I stayed in or any of my fellow Intrepid Tour travel mates stayed in. The hallway carpets are filthy, the bathrooms barely function, the rooms look out over piles of back alley garbage, the air con units are elderly, leak and likely spew mold, my rooms smelled like cigarette smoke and the cleaning standard is minimal. The artwork has a thick layer of greasy dust in it. Several times I got off the elevator to find young men hanging out in the hallway (they ran away when they saw me) and dirty dishes piled on the stairs. The front desk is nice, the cab fare posted to the airport is fair and laundry service is available at a reasonable rate. The hotel has a good location but there are better hotels for similar prices nearby. It's a no from me.

Hotel has great location and the reception team were very friendly. Booked our Ha Giang loop and Ha Long Bay trip for us and at a very reasonable price. We used the hotel as base camp to leave our large travelling bags and took smaller bags for our 3 different excursions around Vietnam.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Rising Dragon Estate. The reception staff went so far to help us when we had logistical issues to solve and were always so friendly and obliging. The location is fantastic for many central activities and attractions in Hanoi like Sword Lake, Train Street and St Joseph's Cathedral, and also a great pick-up point for longer tours-we went to Sapa, Ha Long Bay and Nim Binh from here. An excellent experience which we will definitely repeat.
