"I highly recommend this hotel, which is just near Hakone Yumoto Station, a 5-minute walk away. It has convenient transportation and is very convenient to every scenic spot. The hotel has Japanese-style rooms with open-air baths, as well as a large hot spring and open-air bath on the rooftop. It provides Kaiseki cuisine and has very good service. It specializes in private dining rooms. The Japanese-style room can accommodate three mattresses, making it suitable for families traveling with children!"

"Second stay, the hotel environment is very good, hot spring is also very good. Meals, breakfast and dinner are rich, delivered to the room, but the barbecue and hot pot smell very strong, I proposed to eat in the restaurant, and applied several times before being approved. My companions were sick, and all the pharmacies nearby were closed due to the economic depression. The first aid kit in the hotel was not updated, and it was barely enough for emergency. The town is quite quiet, the forest art gallery and sightseeing train are still there, but they are obviously very dilapidated."

"interesting balinese onsen ryokan. service was great, i couldn’t take raw food and my husband is allergic to prawns and they took notice for it and didn’t serve them during our half board meals (breakfast and dinner). the onsen water is certified to be natural and we could read the details of the certification from both the hotel reception and room toilet. the private in room open air onsen’s temperature can be adjusted as well. however the room’s shower’s door was not completely sealed and we found it very chilly to bathe even tho there was hot water supplied as the constant cold air from outside would come in. hope the hotel can take note of this and seal up the showering area’s door completely to prevent air from exchanging during shower. it’s a jap-balinese fusion hotel, pretty interesting concept. we drove during our trip around hakone area and be ready to navigate through very small and narrow roads while driving to this ryokan haha. really very narrow roads. hotel also requested for us to pass them the car key when we returned to the hotel, and to pass them the hotel key when we are heading out, which we found to be a little weird to be honest."

"Great experience! From the receptionist in the parking lot to the front desk and lounge are first class As soon as I entered the wooden house, I smelled a faint woody fragrance, and my whole person suddenly relaxed a lot. You have to take off your shoes when you enter the hotel, and the front desk will take care of them, so you directly step on the tatami with your feet, soft and comfortable. The room is very large, there are three doors from the main door of the room to the position of the bed, so the room is very quiet. The bed is very large, moderately soft and hard. There is free water, beer and juice in the small refrigerator. The electric kettle has hot water that has already been heated, and there is also a pot of room temperature water to drink next to it The room is heated and air-conditioned at the same time In addition to shampoo and other products, there are also toners, makeup lotions, and lotions that can be used. There are also hair loops for long hair. The whole arrangement is very careful. The view of the room is first-rate, and soaking in a daze in the open-air hot spring is a first-class enjoyment. Dinner and breakfast are in the restaurant on the second floor. Arrange a time with the waiter to go to the first floor and they will show you where to eat. Dining is in a semi-private room with tatami mats, and no other guests will be seen. The waiter for both meals is the same person, needless to say, polite, with a bright smile, very hard to explain the dishes in simple English. It is suitable for people who like to be quiet, slow, and [not to see people]!"

"We loved our experience is this hotel! We had such a lovely evening with our friends an and enjoyed the sunset over the lake- what a perfect ending to the day. We booked the best rooms (kind of by accident but so happy we did that). They’re the top floor rooms with the balconies. Worth it! The breakfast was also truly fantastic- lots of variety and excellent quality choices, including fresh delicious fruit. The onsen was also a delight."

"Chose this place for the private onsen and highly reviewed meals. Meals are served in the central restaurant, will need to book meal timing for both breakfast and dinner as they serve over two rounds. Chose kaiseki dinner which felt like fine dining too. The rooms are modern, with the private onsen on rustic balcony facing the forest. The hot onsen water runs continuously into the pool, which made me think it’s really from the mountains. Do note the hotel is on the middle of a hill, so if driving, be prepared to drive along small windy roads to reach. When leaving, the hotel staff will even help to look out for oncoming cars and direct you to safely drive out of the hotel property onto the main road."

"Ten-yu is amazing. We were impressed from the moment we stepped into the lobby. The kind staff allowed us an early check-in at 1 p.m. and arranged lounge services for our three-day, two-night stay. While the breakfast buffet was exceptional—an extensive spread paired with bubbles and wine—the Kaiseiki dinner was a bit disappointing in comparison. We were fortunate to experience a picturesque snowfall that transformed the hotel’s surroundings into a postcard-like scene, and since we drove, getting around was never an issue despite the snow. The staff were thoughtful throughout our stay. Highly recommended!"

"Nice stay . We booked traditional Japanese room, and slept on futon beds. Pillows were uncomfortable though . Our room fee included dinner and breakfast which was very nice. Dinner was tad too cold for our taste ( too many cold dishes) and breakfast was too “fishy”. Although all food was fresh and the service was impeccable. Hotel also has its own onsen , and pretty Japanese garden ."

MMeng ChuanHad a delightful stay at the ryokan. The rooms are quite impeccable with the smell of the hinoki filling the room, it was quite heavenly. We chose the room with the outdoor bath. And given the cool weather, our bathing experience was amazing. The location was also perfect if you are making a trip to the Sengokuhara Susuki Pampas Grass fields, which is such a scenic spot and of which we enjoyed walked to and through in the setting sun. We also opted to have dinner at the ryokan, who specially made it Halal-friendly for us. What's most amazing to us regarding the ryokan was the service. We had a Nepalese staff speaking with us most of the time, as he was the best in English. He personally brought us to our room and even gave an introduction to the room, and what we needed to take note off. After we checked out, he enquired how we were making our way to the train station. There was conveniently located bus stop just outside the ryokan, so we were going to take that. On our way out, he drove out and stopped along the road beside us (good thing there was no traffic) and to our utter surprise offered to drive us to the train station. We found out that he was actually knocking off, but instead of going straight home to rest (before his next shift in the evening), he wanted to drive us to the station. We were exceptionally touched at his extremely kind gesture (as we didn't think it was hotel protocol to do so). Nonetheless, his actions left us a beautiful and lasting impression on the ryokan. Would definitely go again for the luxurious experience!

BBolanghaoxiaoxiannvThe hot spring hotel is very beautiful, and it feels very old when you walk inside. The public areas are carefully decorated, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are private hot springs that can be booked, and there are not many people in the public hot springs. You can directly book a hot spring before breakfast. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. There is a young lady who speaks super fluent English. Communication is barrier-free, and every dish is very clear. The only drawback is that the location of the hotel is not very convenient if you don't have a private car. You need to call to pick up the station. If you don't have a mobile phone number, you can contact by email, but you can't guarantee timely contact... If you drop off at the check-out time, you can only be sent to Sheguye to take the bus, but there are not many buses, and they are not very punctual, so you may have to wait for a long time. Except for the inconvenient transportation, other experiences are great!

FFionaIt was snowing when we were there. The condominium block was not as ideal as we had to head over to the main building for the restaurant, onsen, snack bars. The snow made the walk slippery and it was very cold. Other than that little inconvenience, everything else was delightful. Parking is sheltered, room was big and comfortable, free drinks and snacks, good dinner and breakfast, kid-friendly, relaxing onsen.

TTimothyIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.

GGuest UserI recently stayed at Hotel Odakyu in Hakone and had a mixed experience. On the map, the location seems convenient, but in reality, it's a bit tricky—especially for solo travelers. There are no buses that go directly to the hotel, so you end up walking along the main road in the dark if you're coming back in the evening. There’s no sidewalk, which made it feel unsafe and uncomfortable for me as a single female traveler. That said, the hotel itself is clean and the rooms, while a little outdated, are well-maintained and comfortable. The onsen is a lovely feature with both indoor and outdoor options—definitely a highlight of the stay. Amenities are great and well-stocked, and the traditional Japanese breakfast is beautifully prepared. Just note that it's the same meal every morning, so if you're staying for more than a night or two, it might feel repetitive. One key tip: buses in Hakone don’t run late, so make sure to be back in the area by 6 or 7 PM to avoid the long, dark walk. Personally, I would recommend staying in a more central or populated area of Hakone for better access to restaurants and transit—especially if you're relying on public transportation.

GGuest UserI love this hotel! From the moment we were ushered in from the shuttle coming via Odawara stn, the hotel felt very welcoming. Reception was a large open table that is not your typical hotel reception that feel too formal. we were first brought to the lower bar seating area where it’s comfy sofa seating. Check in took awhile as many guests were received from the hotel shuttle bus (25-30 seater). Staff always check in with us on the progress while we waited. Room came with private onsen though I hope it could have been the natural spring water instead of tap. Love the huge room size thats great for little kids to run around, met my standard of cleanliness as well. Breakfast adequate but not a huge spread which I find pricey at 3900 yen. Some bread, fried jap style fish, somen, cold appetisers, veg dips, fruits, around 6-8 hot dishes including omelette and poached eggs. Yet a lot of drink choices fr milk, soy, juices, teas, etc. we had the set dinner 18000 yen and 15000 yen as both of us had diff menus. Was a 3-4 course dinner, nothing out of this world and we didnt want the hassle of walking out to find food. This was one hotel we found many singaporeans (we are one too) as breakfast and dinnertime in resto is when we started noticing the accents. Nearby is a 7-11 nearby around 300m by foot if you feel peckish in middle of the night. Very pleasant stay, like that they provide mpv service to and fro gora station that would be most main boarding point to other attractions, mind that it runs till 6pm so any later you can take the Hakone Tozan bus which brings you to the pizza resto just a short 50m walk from hotel main road.

CCyphExcellent accommodation and the location is to die for if MtFuji and the lake is what you’re looking for. A very quiet area in the morning and at night when the tour buses are gone. For those looking to book, here are a few tips we found out to help you out. There’s no receptionist so you will have to figure out how to get in so do not walk on the street side but walk over to the lake side and enter. Otherwise if you enter from the street side, the first pin pad you see is the wrong one. If it’s in front of the door marked “private” then the door code won’t work. Walk around to the front and look for glass doors. That’s where you can enter your door code. The onsen water is extremely hot. Maybe that’s how onsen works but I couldn’t stay for more than 5 minutes as I got dizzy. The loft area is low ceilings but my kids loved sleeping there. However the food here isn’t great so plan accordingly. The 7-11 close by has great snacks. If I ever return to Hakone I would stay here again.

OOhbrainsNot the easiest place to find, nestle between the river and the mountain we had the most amazing experience. Friendly staff that speaks English with the most amazing breakfast and dinner. Not the cheapest hotel but you are paying for the experience and I would definitely recommend you try this hotel out. Our room had its own private hot spring and we were more then impressed with the level of detail and service that the owner(s) put into running of this inn / hotel.

KkitekidThe exterior is in the style of a simple European manor, and the interior should have been renovated in recent years. The key is a traditional key with a long plexiglass room card, which is very impressive. There is a natural hot spring private bath, where you can enjoy the view on the hillside. There are massage chairs, TVs, etc. in the bathing and changing lounge area for you to rest and cool down before returning to the room. The service is very considerate. The breakfast is a Western set meal, which is exquisite and can be eaten as a breakfast. The restaurant faces the hillside and the scenery is invincible. We arrived very late, and the front desk was also very friendly. The front desk was also very friendly during the day, and they responded to every request. Luggage can be stored. The bed and tatami are very good, and the quilt is a duck down quilt, which makes you sleep very comfortably at night. The disadvantage is that you have to climb a slope to leave ”Gora”. There is a car to pick you up at 18:00 in the evening, so you can only climb if it's late. It's closer to ”Park Shang” and there is not such a big slope, but there is still a car at 22:00 on the mountain climbing line to ”Gora”, and there seems to be no car at 18:00 on the traction railway to ”Park Shang”. If you go late, you can only climb or take a taxi. We checked in late, so we only enjoyed the service of being sent to Gora after checking out.
