Stayed at this hotel for 1 night and it was not enough!  it was very peaceful and relaxing,  I chose the room with the private onsen because I have a lot of tattoos  and it was the best decision!  After checkout I wanted to go to Ōwakudani but I missed the bus so the male stuff drove me in his car to the Gora station. I am very grateful for that! And I was lucky to see the Mount Fuji!

Cosy and historic ryokan! Loved that it gave us free access to the nearby Yunessun (onsen theme park and outdoor hot spring) just 3 min walk away, even tho our room had no private baths. Kaiseki breakfast was nice and staff attentive and helpful. Charming and not as commercialised seeming as sister Tenyu ryokan. Only thing was futon charge (for kid) a little pricey.

Recommend this place by far, amenities are great, very comfortable, do yourself a favor and go to the onsen or get a room with a private one, you will not regret it. Also the food is great, if you get the meals, had the Japanese style breakfast and it was good.

This ryokan is simply too lively! It's a pity we were there a bit too early coz the garden will be so beautiful in full bloom! The staff are friendly and nice! Service is superb! But when come to value for money, their sister hotel Tenyu is of better and greatest value with a slight higher price but worth it. However they are totally different type of ambience and feel. For ryokan experience, this is no doubt better choice

Historic Ryokan with amazing atmosphere and decor, our private onsen room was amazing and the water wiped away weeks of stressful traveling around Japan.

The hotel is a short 1km walk from the local train station. The onsen uses natural volcanic spring water and is of very high quality. There is a private onsen available if you ask for the key, however the public bath was empty every time I visted. The room was large, clean, and very relaxing. The dinner was fancy, but had mild flavours. It was not our favourite meal. I was still hungry afterwards, but there was no more food available. There was free alcohol from 9pm to 10pm, but it was of poor quality. The staff were always very kind and helpful.

It was very nice and comfortable place for holiday.

Nice hotel with excellent service

Full of Japanese feelings, great value for money! I will go there a second time! Because this place carries the feelings of that era, if you like to reminisce, you can go and explore it. I will also say that this mountain view is really comfortable for the eyes and makes you feel happy!

I was cheated by the sentiments of the revolutionary martyr Sun Yat-sen. The environment is old and dusty, and there are a lot of rotten wood smells and mold on the walls. It has not been maintained for a long time. It is really a century-old store, but it is old and broken. There is no place to take a shower and the room is small. I have stayed in so many hot spring hotels from Arima to Izu, but this one has the worst hardware and zero service. It is very stiff and I can't feel it. I contacted and left a message in advance but no one replied. When I arrived in the evening, I ordered dinner but I was not allowed to eat it, and I didn't notify or prepare it, and I didn't refund the money. This kind of service is too ugly. Everyone should avoid it, so as not to affect your wonderful vacation time. You come here to enjoy it instead of feeling all kinds of discomfort.

Overall, it was beyond expectations and had a very historical feel. The room was a bit cold, probably because the hotel is quite old.

First stop in Hakone! We stayed at Hakone Kowakien Mikawaya Ryokan. It is right there when you get off the mountain bus "Horaien". It is very convenient. Check-in is not until 3 o'clock. We arrived early and stored our luggage first. We went to the nearby Okada Museum of Art (8 minutes walk). If you want to visit carefully, you need to stay at least 2 hours. Then we took the bus to the Open-Air Museum (10 minutes by bus). The wind was really strong that day, but we walked around for more than an hour. After we came back, we waited in the hut next to us when we checked in. We were served a cup of tea and a fruit. Someone would take us to the room later and introduce the hotel facilities. The three standard yukatas in the room are S, M and L sizes. Please make sure they fit. The whole hotel is very cold. There is no central air conditioning. The room is heated by the warm air. It is also very cold to walk along the corridor inside the hotel to the large bath and restaurant. We stayed in the hotel for too long. I booked a one-night stay with two meals. The specialty beer, I don't remember what it is called, you can try it, but don't have too high expectations. I think it is just average. I always think Kyoto's beer is delicious. The hotel's hot spring has one indoor pool and one outdoor pool. They are not big. It is a bit crowded for three people. But the water is very clean. There is an hour of free drinks in the cabin at check-in from 9pm to 10pm, including red wine, white wine, whiskey, white wine, orange juice and apple juice. There is also a 24-hour coffee machine. In general, this hotel is worth recommending. It is cost-effective and the service attitude is also good. There is a guy who can speak Chinese.

Traveling in Hakone is generally not very convenient, and you must take the bus to get in and out; Overall, the store is 140 years old and still a little dated; For rooms without private baths, you have to go to the public bathroom to take a shower. There is no shower in the room. The private bath in the room is also an outdoor shower;

Traditional Japanese inn, beautiful appearance, in line with expectations. There is only one private bath, can not be reserved, can only go to see luck at any time. Luck is good, two days of bathing, very comfortable. Breakfast tastes very ordinary, grilled fish has very hard scales, children can not eat.
