Do not book online. I booked via *********** at 5pm and at 6pm when I arrived the hotel was closed. I waited 1 hour before finding alternative accommodation. At 9pm the hotel phoned me after I messaged several times through the web site I booked with to ask if I still wanted to check in. I tried to get a refund but they have so far refused to do it. So not only did I pay for what looked like a nice hotel for the night I paid again to stay somewhere else. AVOID this place

We booked the hotel via *********** on the basis of many reviews in guide books. When we arrived at 5pm the hotel was shut. There was no notice on the front door to explain what the situation was. Turned out that the hotel was closed and the owner told us that we should go to the Hotel Sr Hilaire instead. Our reservation at the Hotel St Hilaire was acknowledged but we had not booked that hotel, we wanted to stay at the Roosevelt. Be warned if you book the Roosevelt, you might not be staying there….

A bad experience, arriving in front of a closed hotel, vague note on the door telling you to report somewhere else. The hotel has been closed for some time in terms of facilities, you could only sleep there, no staff present. Very noisy. The feeling of a youth hostel.

I went to Givet for work. I was only supposed to stay there for the day and leave at the end of the afternoon, but my mission lasted. In the evening I looked for a hotel and a restaurant. The ibis Budget was full, as was the Hôtel des Reflets Jaunes. I called the Roosevelt and told him that I had just sat down to eat. The boss on the phone told me that there was no problem, that I was enjoying my meal and that he would be waiting for me to give me the keys to my room. Reassured, I have dinner before going to the hotel. Arriving at the hotel after dinner, the hotel is closed. All lights off. I call reception but no one picks up. The boss deliberately left me outside, in the middle of February, despite his promises to wait for me. We are on the verge of endangering the lives of others. It's pathetic and unworthy of this great profession of hotelier. I understand better why this hotel always has rooms available when the others are all full. So if I have to give you consumer advice, avoid this establishment but also the Val St Hilaire because it is the same boss!
