Gorgeous charming hotel with excellent service!

Beautiful hotel with perfect view of a cathedral from our twin room. Hotel is in a historic building with lovely architectural features by the canal and the room we were in was a cleverly designed "duplex" with the bathroom and sinks on the upper floor (ie loft) which made full use of the almost double volume ceiling in the smallish twin room we were in. The only drawback was that the steps were narrow and steep and would pose a problem if one had mobility issues. The toilet was located by the door next to the entrance but there was no sink for handwashing. Alcohol gel in a pump bottle was provided. There is a café, lifestyle / clothes shop and supermarket in the same building. Very convenient and the hotel's location was walkable to all the sights in Ghent central. The front desk staff were very polite and gracious and allowed us to store our luggage when we arrived before 11am, since check-in was strictly at 4pm. We were happy to find that our suitcases had been already delivered to our room when we returned to the hotel at 4pm. There are 2 bars in the hotel - one which is open to the public which was buzzing in the evenings and a guest-only "Honesty Bar" (1st photo) in which hotel guests could purportedly help themselves to liquor and pen down what they had imbibed - but I never saw anyone in it ! This could be due to a lack of ice or mixers. Or glasses. 🍸

Overall is great. But the entrance is a little away from the main road if you are with your big luggage that could be tough due the the steps and rough paving. Another small issue is the toilet, there is no ventilation in the toilet so the odour could trapped inside for a while.

It’s the best hotel by far. Great location with a supermarket right below and a 2-minute walking distance to a train station. Lovely view and beautiful hotel. Worth every penny.

The hotel is in a historic building and centrally located in Ghent. It is walkable to all major sightseeing destinations. Our room has a beautiful view of St Nicholas Church, and the square in front. The room was quite stylishly decorated with high ceiling but the. Shower and wash basin are on the upper level. Maybe inconvenient for some people. At least the toilet is on the same level as the entrance. My room was a bit small, only suitable to have two cabin size luggage opened at the same time. Overall it is a lovely hotel and really added to our two days stay in Ghent.

It's like living in Hogwarts, so great! The carriage is a duplex room, with a window facing the church. You can watch the sunrise while lying in bed early in the morning. During the day, you can sit downstairs and make a pot of tea and sing on the street. It couldn't be more perfect~~ The only thing is that it is a historical protected building, and you need a strong man to carry the luggage in and out, hahaha🤣

The rooms are a bit small, but it is understandable because it is an ancient building that has been modernized. The location is the best in Ghent. There is a supermarket downstairs, McDonald's opposite, and the only taxi pick-up point in Ghent, which is convenient for going to the train station. The only advantage of the hotel's breakfast is that it is earlier than other breakfast shops. In short, I would still choose this shop if I go to Ghent early.

The environment is really great! Because of this hotel, I became interested in Ghent, which is far beyond my imagination. It is a place I hope to visit again. I will always remember opening the window and seeing the people walking downstairs and the church bells ringing, just like in a 19th century painting.

Very beautiful, perfect details. The toiletries are Guerlain. But the surrounding area is too noisy. And the sink and bathroom are on the second floor, which is a bit troublesome.

The best of the flops. Dark and small room, decorated like a museum. Fear of breaking something, no place to put our things. Same in the bathroom. Buffet breakfast (35€) very expensive compared to the products offered and the little choice. In addition, the person in charge of breakfast is not very friendly and touches the food (smoked ham) when restocking on the trays without wearing gloves. Which is contrary to the most basic hygiene rules. In short, even for free we will not go back.

The decoration is quite unique, the color is black, I was a little uncomfortable at night. The bathing area of ​​the room is upstairs, and the toilet is downstairs. If you want to wash your hands, you have to run upstairs and downstairs, which is a bit inconvenient.

It really has the atmosphere of an ancient castle and the century!
