Hotels with Breakfast in Cardiff

We have stayed in Cardiff at ”The Hotel Indigo” 5 times & will continue to do so, as it never disappoints! The location is central & perfect for where ever we wish to get to: shops, restaurants, train & bus stations. The staff are lovely, always helpful & seem to be really happy at their work. The food is amazing & they certainly don't scrimp at breakfast time. The rooms are really nice & super clean, even the shower gel, liquid soap etc smell lovely! Well done to a brilliant team, see you soon!

We stayed for two nights as our bathroom is being replaced at home. This is a former Premier Inn which retains the 'footprint' and build/comfort standard of a PI. The rooms have showers instead of baths which is perfect for me. I rang ahead and requested a ground floor room which was honoured- we were given room 2 which met our needs and requirements. Bed was really comfortable, tv had limited channels but I was able to log into my Netflix. There is hanging space for your clothes, a hair dryer and plenty of sockets, none by the bed though. The WiFi was adequate for our needs. There is free, secure parking provided at the rear of the hotel - you need a code to exit so as safe as can be. No noise considering the M4 motorway and main A48 sandwich the hotel. There is a restaurant for food but we didn't use it. Menu was a bit pricey but has good reviews. All the staff that we met were friendly. The Receptionists were lovely and a big shout out to Alice who sorted our return visit next week when we get back from holiday. For the money it's excellent value for a clean, friendly place to stay.

I extended for a late checkout, since it’s the night after concert. So I went back to bed after breakfast, and DONG!!! Fire alarm! VERY LOUD that every sleepy soul would wake up frustratingly. Turns out it’s just a test? And the reception said it’s the policy to do every Monday 10am? But that time was 11.30! Anyway if they have planned for it they should tell guest upfront so I don’t have to wake up panicly and rushed out to the fire exit, needed to go to the reception to restore the keycard cause everything will be reset after the alarm(as they told me). This is ridiculously unacceptable. It’s overpriced too but this subject is known and accepted since it’s the concert night.

This was my first time staying at a Marriott, and it certainly lives up to its reputation as a well-established hotel. Many hotels in the UK clean every three days, but Marriott cleans daily and provides drinking water and biscuits every day. Location: It's about a 5-10 minute walk from Cardiff Central train station, depending on how fast you walk. It's quite close, with hardly any turns – just follow the road straight. It's also very close to the city center for shopping; you can just stroll over. The bathroom is quite spacious and bright, and the lighting is good, making it suitable for putting on makeup. There's a bathtub, but the shower screen only covers half of it, so if you move around a lot while showering, water might splash everywhere. The room size is decent. After opening a 28-inch large suitcase, there's still plenty of space to walk around. There's also a large full-length mirror, but it faces the bed, which some Chinese guests might find bothersome. The only minor drawback is that the air conditioning wasn't very effective at cooling. Although it wasn't hot during my three days in Cardiff, I wanted it to be a bit cooler, but it didn't really work.

A bit chilly, but otherwise perfect. It's very close to the train station, making transportation convenient, and there are many great food options nearby. The restaurant's breakfast is excellent. It's a perfect retreat, quiet yet centrally located, and the service attitude is also very good.

Had a lovely stay here, hotel was closer to many thing for you to walk around 10min. Services from staff was good. Breakfast was alright and not too fancy. You can also access the pool and other facilities. Bed was okay and comfortable only downside is that they can only change the sheets after 3days not every day when room service does their day rounds. Overall I will definitely recommend. Will definitely visit again.

I arrived quickly as it's close to the train station. The location is excellent! It's on the main street but wasn't chaotic or noisy, which was a plus. The self check-in/check-out kiosks made things convenient, and the staff were incredibly, incredibly friendly. The room itself was clean, and the elephant and swan towel art on the bed was especially cute. It immediately put me in a good mood when I walked in. Although there wasn't a fridge in the room, I asked at reception, and they kindly stored my wine in the hotel bar fridge, allowing my friends and I to have an enjoyable night. I was worried the window might look small from the photos, but the view was so beautiful that it didn't feel small at all.

I was impressed. Clean hotel, not far to the city centre, friendly receptionist and enough parking. Highly recommended.

Location was excellent. Right in the city centre. Don't be confused though, there are two Travelodges and we went to the wrong one first which was conveniently close to the train station. A short taxi ride took us to the correct one. Reception is unusually on the 3rd floor, but friendly staff. Your pass key will only unlock your floor which also has safety doors. Be careful not to put it near your phone as it desensitised it and it won't unlock anything - like mine, but a visit to the Reception fixed that. Felt very safe there as the automatic doors from street level lock at night, so no one could wander in off the street. A bar and cafe located on same 3rd floor as Reception was convenient for a drink and snack. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Cardiff has a large pedestrian area, so it was easy to walk to major shops, restaurants and pubs (recommend the Owain Glyndwr) and attractions such as Bute Park and Cardiff Castle were easy to walk to. The Christmas markets and Winter Wonderland were also close by and beautiful to view at night. Foreign money exchange was a short walk from hotel at the Queen Street shopping arcade entrance.

I have a really mixed feeling about this hotel. I booked the superior room with tree lined view and asked for a quiet room: the receptionist gave me an extremely cold and noisy room right next to the motorway and above some nightclubs. My watch has identified the noise level is over the normal limit. I couldn’t fall asleep due to the loud noise even at midnight. I called the receptionist to change a room. Unfortunately, they first gave me a standard room that the heating system was not working and much smaller than I have paid for. The two maintenance officers who came to check the heating system are very helpful and suggested to change to another room. Only by then, I was able to change to another room that matched the similar sized of a superior room, but without tree lined view. I must say that all the receptionists were friendly and polite but behind their friendliness, they are not really helpful at all. I had my dinner, a sea bass meal, at the restaurant - see the photo. The dinner and the service was both outstanding. The kettle in the room was not very clean; it could easily be cleaned by using small spray to remove the calcium. The gym and swimming pool are excellent. If you are not used to live in really loud room, please double check with the receptionists. It is also not worth to pay an extra 10 pounds per night to get a so called tree lined room with extreme loud noise. I also wonder the reason for the hotel to give customers rooms that the heating system are not working. It would helpful to check before they allocate room to customers. It would also helpful that the hotel ensure that the room has reasonable temperature before admitting guests, esp on a very cold winter night. Overall, this is not a very good experience. I was not able to sleep for a whole night. I paid extra in the hope of getting a better and quiet room but ended up with one of the worst room without getting any compensation.
