This is probably the best hotel I’ve stayed in here in China. The hospitality is top notch , the hotel itself is classy and very peaceful. The hotel staff are very professional and quite helpful. They have a good conduct of English too. Their room service is great and the food here is just so delicious. I’d recommend this hotel any day.

Stay for the history, not the service. The hotel has a unique history and is in an excellent location for sightseeing and shopping. First opened in 1917 with an eclectic modern European style as the Grand Hôtel de Pékin, the hotel was once the largest and best-equipped in Beijing. It has accommodated illustrious writers such as Rudyard Kipling, Noël Coward, and George Bernard Shaw, as well as royals like Princess Anne and Prince Albert of Monaco. It was also where Chairman Mao Zedong celebrated the inauguration of the People's Republic of China in 1949. For the most part, the service is poor, so go with low expectations. The pool is severely dated and unpleasant. The room was dated but reasonably spacious and comfortable. The Writer’s Bar was a highlight and has an extensive cocktail menu. However, be warned that the kitchen closes at 8:30 PM, so unfortunately, we missed out on dining in.
