The Pagoda Light Hotel Reviews

I stayed at this hostel for a week. The staff was helpful with recommendations for restaurants or helping out with other things. The area around the hostel is really nice and a short walk to bus and subway. The rooftop terrace cafe is great. I felt that there were not enough toilets/showers for the amount of people using it and the sink/bathroom area could use more hangers/space to put toiletries. Note that they charge a small fee for using laundry machine. All in all I would recommend staying there.

Really nice place with really friendly staff!! I even extended my stay there. The location is great, you have the bus and the underground closeby. You have a famous Lamaist pagoda next door and really cute street with cute cafés, restaurants that us really nice in the evening. The rooms are clean, with sockets right above your own bed and provide slippers for the shower. They provide ear plugs, toiletry items and a washing machine. There is a roof top and common areas to eat your delivery food (they have a system where you can order your food and deliver at the place). I really enjoyed my stay there!

Very good hostel for its price. Good neighborhood. Close to metro station. There are lots of shops and cafes around. The room was clean, good comfortable bed. The bathroom was a bit scruffy. The staff is helpful. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

We had a good time staying in the hotel. Very convenient to all tourist’s sites some are just walking distance and others with 20 minutes car ride. At the hotel rooftop garden serves good meal and good coffee too. You can find nearby cafes and restaurants too. Good choice to in Beijing!

Really awesome location, comfy beds and very handy power outlets and little light switches for each bunk. The location was so so helpful for it being our first time in Beijing, it’s close to the trains and there’s loads of food places and of course the pagoda right outside. We weren’t the biggest fans of the communal toilet and showers which were quite far from our room being downstairs next to the lobby, but it was definitely doable considering the price of this place compared to everywhere else in Beijing. Friendly staff let us store our bags all day even after we’d checked out. Only struggle we had was figuring out how to get water that wasn’t from the bathroom sink, just ask the cafe downstairs to fill your bottles! 😊

Situated at the side of the main road and thus making it convenient to find then hostels in a hutong (small alley). There is a cafe on the first floor. The restaurant serves mostly western dishes, which the diners can have on the rooftop dining area (third floor). There, diners can have a nice view of the White Light Pagoda. Infact, the establishment is within a short walking distance to the Golden Light Pagoda. As for the hostel itself, the rooms are designed tatami style. Beds are arranged side by side on tatami mats, separated by small wooden dividers. Each bed comes equipped with a small reading lamp and a charger area, and a small cabinet to put valuables. The rooms are on the second floor, locked with an automatic sliding door. The shower rooms and cubicles are on the first floor. Albeit its strengths, there are two dampeners to this hostel. One, the bathrooms are shared between the hostel guests and diners, and bathrooms being on the first floor, guests had to walk down and up. Second, the bathroom and garbage area (near the front door and receptionist) have a funky smell. For the bathroom, I suppose it is because the bathroom is is confined in the middle of the hostel, thus a lack of ventilation in the window-less bathroom. As for the garbage area, I dont suppose the cleaners wash or watch them very frequently. Seems like the only cleaner mainly cleans the restaurant. Second, the rooms are not soundproof. When I stayed there, a man with a big nest of hair laughed and clapped every several minutes in glee and utter abandon while playing his mobile phone until way past 11pm. After bearing with the noises for a while, I had to tell him off; he apologised and immediately stopped. That was when I realised he had had his earphones on while playing and did not realise how loud his voice must have been. Surprisingly, the receptionist, also awake, did not alert him. As you can see from the pictures, the hostel and cafe are elegantly decorated. However, I feel that the management of the restaurant is prioritized than the proper management of the hostel. The hostel is close to Subway Line 4.

I only used the bedroom and shower during my stay — both were okay. The staff was friendly, and the location is great. The nearest metro station is about 500 meters away, and the street has several restaurants and shops. We were two people in the room which worked out, but the room was tiny.
