"Overall, the stay was decent. The hotel's location wasn't as close to Sendai Station as I had expected; it's not directly adjacent. The service staff were polite, but their attention to detail seemed lacking. We booked for two adults and one child, and this was confirmed during check-in. Yet, only two pillows were provided in the room. By the time we realized, it was too late to ask for more, so we simply made do.
Other hotels generally handle things better; for instance, they often place stored luggage in the room prior to guest arrival. While some hotels count 12-year-olds as adults and provide full amenities for three, even if a child isn't officially counted in the guest number, non-chargeable items like extra pillows are usually provided in appropriate quantities.
On the positive side, breakfast exceeded our expectations significantly. We had read reviews suggesting it wasn't great, so perhaps our low expectations made us find it quite satisfactory.
One more unsatisfactory detail: upon entering our room, we found the toilet wasn't very clean. I had to clean it myself before using it, and I hope the housekeeping staff can improve in this area. There's a clear gap when compared to the Hotel Metropolitan in Morioka. If I return to Sendai, I might try the Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East to see if there's a difference, not least because its location is closer to Sendai Station.
Overall, it was a decent stay, but there's certainly room for improvement."
