A trip to Chongqing is incomplete without a stay at Gongtan Ancient Town's Bashi Inn which is located at the bank of the calm Wujiang River facing the forested mountain. The Inn is conveniently situated opposite the Wujiang Cruise Centre. We had 2 blissful nights and adore the scenic view from our balcony. The room is clean and very comfortable. Our host, Ms Ran Ran, is a very warm and helpful person who had gone the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. She helped arrange all our transportation needs: arriving from Pengshui and departure from Gongtan.

For those of us who have been to many ancient towns and stayed in many homestays, the service of this inn is really speechless. Because we were traveling with 5 elderly people, I was very selective when booking the B&B in Gongtan Ancient Town. After seeing the introduction and pictures of the inn, I thought the hardware (separate wet and dry areas in the toilet and bathroom, shower with heater) was good. I also read everyone's comments saying that the service was also very good, so I finally decided to choose Xirongxuan. However, all the unpleasantness started from the second call to the boss. We arrived at the parking lot around 5 o'clock after visiting the Three Natural Bridges and the Ground Crack. Our chartered car driver asked me to contact the boss to pick us up. According to previous experience, when entering the ancient town, the boss or staff would usually come out to pick us up. However, when I called the boss for the first time, the boss specified that we get off at the north gate parking lot and let us take the scenic area's sightseeing bus to the homestay (2 yuan per person). Okay, no problem, we came in by ourselves. However, there were only cars but no drivers in the parking lot. I looked around but didn't see anyone. I had no choice but to call the boss again. At this time, the boss still emphasized that I should find a driver. When I said there was no one, he reluctantly said, ”Then I'll pick you up.” After waiting for a few minutes, the boss finally showed up. Knowing that there were six of us, he drove a small car that could only seat four at most, including the luggage. I said that some of us could wait for him in the parking lot and asked him to pick us up again. The boss's answer was, ”The other two of you can walk in by yourselves. It's only a few hundred meters away.” Oh my God, he asked us to find it by ourselves in an ancient town we had never been to, not to mention how tired we were after climbing the mountain for a whole day. After my repeated requests, the boss said that he would pick me up again, but I had to wait (I later learned that because it was a one-way street, he had to go around in a circle, so he was unwilling to do so). I brought three elders and followed the boss to the B&B first. The boss dropped us off at the bottom of the B&B. Only then did I realize that it was a long and steep flight of steps to get to the B&B. I didn’t see anyone else coming to pick us up, so I carried a big bag and a 20-inch suitcase on my back. The three elders followed me and we began to climb up. After climbing a few steps, I looked up and saw a woman in pajamas looking at us at the door of the B&B. I thought it was another guest. She kept watching us climb up. When there were only a few steps left, she suddenly ran over and said, ”Let me help you.” It turned out to be the proprietress. There were only a few steps left. You pretended to come over to help us with our luggage. What were you doing before? The proprietress said arrogantly that she was not in good health. Is poor health a reason for you to treat guests like this? It's really ridiculous. Or if you said sorry when you saw me and said you were not feeling well and couldn't help you, I would have accepted it. The couple really aren't suited to running a B&B, or rather they should hire some helpers. The two of them can only be bosses. The next day after checking out, we had to go to the pier to take a boat and take our luggage with us. The night before, the boss said he would help us book a scenic spot bus to take us. After the pick-up, I would rather spend money to take the scenic spot bus. The next morning the boss said he would give us a ride, but the prerequisite was that two of us had to walk to the dock by ourselves. My anger, which had already subsided, was instantly ignited again. Really, why are you so unwilling to do something like stepping on the accelerator when you're driving? What's more, from what I observed that night, there were only six of us in three rooms in the entire inn. Then the boss asked me for the phone number of our chartered driver. At this time, I really didn't want him to take us there, but the elder kept persuading me. I told him that he could go to the parking lot and I would find a driver to put the luggage away. The boss's service consciousness suddenly awakened and he said he would serve us well, my God. In the end, my three elders still walked to the pier by themselves. This boss is awesome. In the whole inn, only the boss's mother understood how to entertain guests. She always spoke to us politely. There was no service at all in the whole inn. Finally, I want to say that no matter how good the hardware of an inn is, if the service cannot keep up, it will ruin its reputation. B&Bs rely on word of mouth. Maybe the owner of this place is just doing a one-time business, so he doesn't care about the guests' feelings. In fact, even if the conditions of the inn are a little worse, the service is heartwarming and everyone will naturally accept the poor conditions.

I forgot to take a picture of the room. It is simple and clean, with a rustic feel. The floor creaks occasionally, which is very special. The river view is really comfortable. It is suitable for sitting on the small balcony and doing nothing. At night, the night watchman will shout ”Be careful of the candles” from outside. The boss and his wife are very enthusiastic, and the boss is very talkative and honest. They make their own pepper fish, and the fish is freshly caught. I will come here to relax next time.

I have stayed in many homestays, but this one really stands out. The bed is super comfortable, with moderate hardness and softness. I don't want to get up after lying down. There are many books in the public lounge area. You can play and communicate with other guests in your spare time and make new friends. Gongtan Ancient Town is as beautiful as a painting. The slow-paced life really makes people relax physically and mentally. There are bougainvilleas everywhere in the ancient town. The colors are bright and beautiful, and it is super beautiful with the green river water. And the lady at the front desk is really super gentle and nice.

**Check-in experience in Xufengyuan, the ancient town of Yantan: Yuan Poetic Residence, Meet the owner of Feeling** In the Xuefengyuan in the ancient town of Yantan, I really experienced the charm of ”slow life”. The homestay is surrounded by mountains and rivers, and outside the house is the sparkling light of the Wujiang River and the stacked hanging tower, as if living in an ink painting. **Environment: elegant and chic, see the ingenuity everywhere** The old house was transformed into a courtyard that retains the wooden structure and blue tile moths of the traditional Tujia architecture, and integrates the simplicity and comfort of modern design. The green plants in the courtyard are scattered, and a pot of meat is in line with the simple stone road. The log furniture, hand-woven fabrics and warm yellow lights in the room reveal the owner's intentions in the details. I love the top two rooms with their respective terraces. In the morning, I watch the mist, and at night, I listen to the river and the quietness of isolation. **Master: Protector of the local culture with feelings** Tian Boss is a gentle middle-aged man, formerly an art teacher, tired of the world and hidden in his old house to live a comfortable life. Talking can feel his deep feelings for the ancient town of Yantan, and his own life. Of course, there are also future plans for your own preface. You can't help but admire it, so you want to participate here. The boss's wife is also a teacher and has never left here. She made a pot of local eagle tea for us, talked to you about the history and humanities of the ancient town, and there will be neighbors to chat at night, all of which reveal the simplicity and beauty of the place. Listening to them talk about the various things they have paid to restore this old house, this respect for culture and inheritance has made the accommodation experience a bit more temperature. **Postscript:** If you are tired of the same hotel, you may as well come here to stay. It is not only a resting place, but also a memory of time, feelings and landscapes. I want to say to the boss and the proprietress: ”I will come back next time, Yantan is our common home.” Such a yard, such a boss, such a prefaced courtyard, is worth our special trip again.

Let me tell you about the guesthouse I stayed at this time! The service was excellent. We arrived in the evening, and the owner picked us up from the parking lot. The room was very cozy, and the amenities were neatly arranged. The room was spacious, with plenty of hot water, smart curtains, a smart toilet, and a separate wet and dry area in the bathroom. I especially loved the heater in the shower. I'm someone who gets cold easily, and with the heater on, it wasn't cold at all. I was very satisfied with this stay.

Navigation Inn drives directly to the side of the road on the back uphill, you can park, it is very convenient. There are many rooms in the inn and the price is reasonable. The location is excellent, you can travel to the entrance of the ticket inspection of Taohuayuan. Finally came back and took a 2 yuan battery car. The ancient city of Zhangzhou is an antique building. Because I wanted to rush to the next stop, I didn't stay overnight, so I checked out and left.

The hotel experience is very good! Five-star recommendation, the room is large, very clean, and the facilities are very new. When I asked the owner, I found out that it was an upgraded room of the inn. The balcony is super large and faces the Wujiang River directly.

The room appeared to be very big and I was scared. The bed is tatami and feels infinitely close to these crawling insects. I am very responsive. Small bugs also appeared on the quilt. Don't look up at the ceiling for fear of bugs. In summary, the sleep experience is not good. The shower shower in the bath is a bit dilapidated, and the hot water cannot last the whole process of one person's use. The most important thing is that the water flow is so small that it is not refreshing to wash your hands. The bathing experience of our two girls is not good. The above situation has been reacted to the boss. As for the reply, ha ha.

Nos sentimos muy contentas con el trato que hemos recibido en este hotel. Desde el primer momento en el que nos ayudaron a llegar al hotel, buscándonos en el coche, hasta el día que nos fuimos que nos ayudaron a encontrar la estación de autobuses. Ha sido como una familia para nosotras estos días, la comida que hay en el restaurante es deliciosa y a muy buen precio. La habitación es básica pero está limpia y el aire funciona muy bien. Muy céntrico. Muy recomendable. Si volvemos seguro que será a ver a nuestra familia 🤗
