Let's be honest, Hostal Denike is not a hostal at all, it is in reality a very good hotel, that would deserve either 4 or 5 stars! The location is excellent, just few minutes away from Santiago de Compostela cathedral and from the bus stop to/from the airport; notwithstanding its very central position, the accommodation is also very quiet, since the street is not on the usual tourists/pilgrims path. The room we were given was very clean and large, simply but efficiently decorated, although a small writing desk would make it even better, and the bed big and comfortable. Breakfast was simply great! The icing on the cake though was the service, extremely attentive, friendly and very much customer-oriented. Usually, in my reviews I don't single out individual staff as I try always to more as objective as possible, but for Begoña I must make an exception: her warmth and friendliness were exceptional and worth of a 5-star boutique hotel, making every guest feel special and pampered. Highly recommended!!
GGuest UserIt was a little off putting when I first arrived as the entrance was in a small alley but I soon discovered a lot of hotels in Santiago are are like this, but it is a very nice hotel. Staff were nice and a really good breakfast. Not far from the old town and cathedral etc for sightseeing and close to non tourist shops for retail shopping. We got the bus from airport for €1 and it stopped close to hotel and it is a short walk, maybe 12 minutes from bus station. No outside space or bar which may disappoint others but we were not planning on spending our time in the hotel bar when there is so much else to explore nearby. Nice bar on corner next to hotel, fruit shop and supermarket just around the corner so very handy
Two night stay at the end of our Camino. Perfect location in the center of old Santiago, mere steps from the cathedral. Lots of history in this is a restored old monastery and it retains its feeling of the austere life of the monks. Beds are not the most comfortable and the rooms have little if any modern additions (no tv in ours for example) It’s a very large property and hallways feel more like a hospital than a hotel, but this adds to the experience. Breakfast was barely ok. You’re not allowed to bring food out of the cafeteria (?). We are out so we did not get a chance to try the dining room. Service was very good.
Great hotel, good location with secure underground parking ideal for cars or motorcycles. Manager could not have been more helpful - let us leave our motorcycles for a few hours in the parking area after checkout and stored our biking gear while we spent time looking round the town. Rooms and facilities all fine - would definitely stay here again 👍
I had a full apartment that was clean and modern, within 10 minutes walking distance of the cathedral. The woman who checked me in was friendly and helpful. This was excellent value for the money. I highly recommend it.
The room was clean and so were the two shared bathrooms close to our room on the 3rd floor. The stairs were pretty steep, but as expected, and Raul on Reception was very helpful with all sorts of information. The bus system in the town was difficult to understand, but for 1€ for any ride, couldn't complain. Raul did not mention the microwave on the second floor. No aircon, of course, and you could almost read a book by the light on the fan. Busy road outside - why do rubbish trucks work at 11 pm in Spain? Smart tv had YouTube, so could watch some movies and news etc in English. Be aware - the cab fare from the train/bus station is about 6€. Raul organised one for our departure - it turned out to be a friend with a small limo - for 12€!! The Cathedral is a mere 5 minutes around the corner.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the heart of the city centre and is located in the centre of the city. Recommended for those who do not need a private jacuzzi to live.
