Beautiful quaint little hotel in a quite street away from the noise of the Cathedral area but still only a short walk. We were very lucky to be accommodated at short notice and the lovely receptionist couldn't have been more helpful. All the staff are extremely friendly and courteous. Our rooms were most comfortable with exposed stone walls and cute little balconies giving it a great character. A full length mirror would be most welcome however, in fact the only mirror was in the bathroom. Storage wasn't wonderful, the wardrobe was good but there were not any other shelves or closets and the desk/dressing table did not have any drawers either. Bathroom could also do with some more shelving but overall was nicely equipped with lovely Nuxe toiletries and a great hair dryer. The breakfasts were served to the table and although the selection was limited being just a continental breakfast, everything was fresh and delicious and the coffee lovely. Would definitely recommend for a stay in wonderful Santiago.
The location of the hotel is excellent, you don't need to take a taxi from the airport, you can get there directly by bus, and it only costs 3 euros. The ancient city is just across the road from the hotel, and it’s easy to visit and eat.
All great , the location is ideal for the tranquility of not being in the same center but at the same time very close , the magnificent facilities and above all highlighted the gardens that it has around

I mostly enjoyed my two nights at this hotel. The staff was professional, the room was clean, and breakfast was a beautiful spread. The only thing I wish my ground floor room had was a little more privacy. I wanted to read in my room during one afternoon but the curtains made it too dark and the only other option was the black-out curtains. I wish there had been a sheer curtain option because when I left the doors with no curtain, the gardeners walked by and could see into my room. Not relaxing at all. I did like that the hotel was close enough to walk to the cathedral and the city center but was far enough away to not hear a lot of noise.
This is one difficult review to write as I always like to say as many positive things in my reviews. However, this has to be said if only for the hotel to improve their service and/or re-evaluate their culture. I was excited that this hotel was a Melia hotel because we've stayed in Melia hotels in Spain before and were very happy with our experience. Here is one beautiful, modern hotel that we looked forward to staying in especially after our Camino Walk. I checked in our group of 9 ahead of the others and was efficiently attended to by Pilar and Lourdes at the Front Desk. The hotel offered a lovely breakfast spread. That's where all the positives stop, I'm afraid. That night, we booked for a late dinner to celebrate my son's birthday and the end of a tiring Camino Walk. While seated at the long table in front of the bar, we were subjected to very rude treatment by the waitress named Marta. When one of our companions asked for an extra soup bowl, she said it was impossible. To give her the benefit of the doubt in case there was a misunderstanding in language differences, my friend asked our Spanish tour escort to ask the waitress for our bowl. The next thing we saw was our tour escort being rudely treated by the waitress speaking to our tour escort at the bar, telling him off. We understand some Spanish but what we saw from the body language and our tour escort backing away from the wait staff spoke volumes. He was being harassed by the wait staff. All we asked was for our tour escort to ask our waitress, Marta, in Spanish for an extra soup bowl. And we saw very aggressive behavior directed at our tour escort. She handed our tour escort a sauce dish, not a soup bowl, that's how offensive she was. When he told Marta that he wanted to deal with another waiter Christian (the other wait staff who was also there with Marta) told him, pointing at Marta, ”she's the boss”. Where was customer care in this scenario? If Marta refused to attend to our needs, why couldn't Christian attend to us? Two of us went up to the bar to talk to Marta and Christian when we saw what was going on. When I asked her what her problem was, Marta glared at me and said she didn't speak Spanish and went away. I took out my phone and typed on Google Translate: ”Be kind. You are in Customer Service. Where is your manager?” I showed it to Christian since Marta refused to deal with us. A bit later, Pilar from Front Desk came and talked to my friend and me. We told her that we didn't want trouble but that this massive, massive failure in customer service must be addressed. Pilar was very defensive of the wait staff but she did listen when we insisted. When we asked for a manager, or the Officer-In-Charge, we were told that there was no manager on hand. All the staff, all, covered for one another. It made us wonder about the culture of the company. To make things worst, 2 of our orders were not served and we were charged for the orders. It is a good
Firstly can I just say the Receptionists, Susi, Andrea and Juan were so friendly and helpful. They are a complete asset to this hotel as there is no bar or lounge area, so their attentiveness is a must. The hotel itself is in a shopping centre on the outskirts of Santiago. The walk to the Cathedral and centre is probably about 30 minutes and a lot of that is uphill. If you don't think you can manage the walk, there are regular buses outside hotel and also a taxi rank. The room we were allocated was a suite ( thank you for upgrade). It was very large and had a sofa area and there was a jacuzzi bath too. The shower head which was in the bath pointed towards the opposite end of the bath so bracket could do with being changed but that said, the water was always hot. The heating in the room was on a hotel timer and the radiators only came on at about 7.45pm, so the room was cold if you were showering before then. Maybe the management can look into changing this in winter/ spring months to an earlier time? The housekeeping was great with fresh towels and cleaning daily. The breakfast was Continental style with a good selection. My only problem was that the lady who worked on service etc had a very unfriendly manner about her. I arrived at 10.25 am on Monday morning for a cup of tea and just to have a Danish.(Breakfast served until 10.30 am)She rudely informed me that they were closed and when I asked could I take a cup of tea to my room( in my own mug) she told me it would cost me €2!! Considering there are no hospitality trays in the rooms I found that to be ridiculous. She was the only member of staff that let this hotel down. Otherwise it's a very affordable, clean hotel to stay in when in Santiago de Campostela.
Hotel location is good, 10 minutes walk from the train station and bus station, no more than 10 minutes walk from the old town. There are supermarkets and restaurants on the side.
The room is very large and the bathroom is large. The facilities in the room and bathroom are very good.
Unfortunately, there is no kettle in the room.
Recommended!
I had an injury just prior to checking into this hotel. the front desk staff were helpful in the extreme to help me change my room to a more convenient one, find food during siesta time, and they even helped me get a Covid test in my room which was required in order to get on my flight the next day. the room was super comfortable and quiet, the breakfast was fantastic and again, the staff was excellent- friendly, caring, competent and anticipated my needs. thank you!

GGuest UserThe staff ( Natalia) friendly knowledgeable of the area, good recommendations, friendly, gave us history of the building and speaks English. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable . Coffee machine and fridge in the room was so nice for us. So close to the cathedral we could walk 20 steps and be there. They offer a nice breakfast, we did not take it because we like to explore. There is also a nice cafe bar right outside the door. I would love to stay here again!
Let's be honest, Hostal Denike is not a hostal at all, it is in reality a very good hotel, that would deserve either 4 or 5 stars! The location is excellent, just few minutes away from Santiago de Compostela cathedral and from the bus stop to/from the airport; notwithstanding its very central position, the accommodation is also very quiet, since the street is not on the usual tourists/pilgrims path. The room we were given was very clean and large, simply but efficiently decorated, although a small writing desk would make it even better, and the bed big and comfortable. Breakfast was simply great! The icing on the cake though was the service, extremely attentive, friendly and very much customer-oriented. Usually, in my reviews I don't single out individual staff as I try always to more as objective as possible, but for Begoña I must make an exception: her warmth and friendliness were exceptional and worth of a 5-star boutique hotel, making every guest feel special and pampered. Highly recommended!!
ZzwhttFor our party of 5 we had 2 separate rooms: standard for 2 and a larger room for 3 (although it could accommodate 4). Our larger room on the top floor had angled ceilings (and skylights), so just be mindful as you are walking around. We did appreciate the separation of rooms: 2 twins in a smaller enclosed area with the queen bed in the larger common area (with sofa chairs for additional relaxation). Continental breakfast was simple and delicious (they squeeze the orange juice for you when seated). Being uphill from the Cathedral, the location was quiet compared to the busier area below the Cathedral, but taking a taxi to return was very inexpensive and a relief after all the walking.
GGuest UserIt cost us to communicate to know when they sent us the code to enter and that made us nervous because we arrived after midnight. Finally they sent it but it was wrong. Fortunately there's a phone at the door and in a second they resolved it. There is a parking place. Very close to the center and the cathedral. There is very comfortable, modern, touched us the disabled in PB No air conditioning, only heating, as we were in March we noticed the lack, perhaps in summer he feels. We were very comfortable, very comfortable beds, good wifi, no pawn but have a pay-off coffee machine in the room. We were only one night, it was very good.
ZZHIFANGWhen I first entered the room, I felt that the room was a bit small, but I think it’s impossible for a single room at this price to have such a big bed, so I feel relieved. The internal heating, bathroom and other conditions are very good, and the external environment is also very good. The scenic area of San Diego is very concentrated, which is an oval circle in the old city wall. However, the convent and the Galician museum are not far away from the circle. Both are good places. The former overlooks the old city. The hotel is just south of the old city wall. There is a straight road leading to the railway station. It takes 15 minutes to walk without luggage. The hotel can also help you book a day trip to the Morte coast (including Cape Fiesta at the end of the sea), a very affordable coastal tour, because the public transportation in the coastal area is not developed, and if there is no self-driving condition, you can go with a group tour It is the most convenient and most rewarding way to visit.
Two night stay at the end of our Camino. Perfect location in the center of old Santiago, mere steps from the cathedral. Lots of history in this is a restored old monastery and it retains its feeling of the austere life of the monks. Beds are not the most comfortable and the rooms have little if any modern additions (no tv in ours for example) It’s a very large property and hallways feel more like a hospital than a hotel, but this adds to the experience. Breakfast was barely ok. You’re not allowed to bring food out of the cafeteria (?). We are out so we did not get a chance to try the dining room. Service was very good.
GGuest UserConveniently-located in the very heart of the old town, the hotel offers excellent service and ultimate comfort to visitors. No need to use any form of transport as everything worth seeing is within easy walking distance. Personal is amazing, doing everything possible to accommodate guests ‘ needs and make them feel at ease. Breakfast is basic but satisfying for the price paid. A good value for money. The room was thoroughly cleaned every day and a new supply of toiletries were delivered. I definitely recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Santiago de Compostela for whatever purpose.
변변영선 서울It is convenient to location near the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, but the building is too old, the bathroom is narrow, the facilities are poor, and the bed is crooked, so it is very old.
The owner was friendly but difficult to communicate.
GGuest UserAll perfect and clean. Quiet and easy parking in the same street. We missed a toaster, but generally everything like in the photos. Very easy entry to the building by a code without keys. We will repeat safely.
The room was clean and so were the two shared bathrooms close to our room on the 3rd floor. The stairs were pretty steep, but as expected, and Raul on Reception was very helpful with all sorts of information. The bus system in the town was difficult to understand, but for 1€ for any ride, couldn't complain. Raul did not mention the microwave on the second floor. No aircon, of course, and you could almost read a book by the light on the fan. Busy road outside - why do rubbish trucks work at 11 pm in Spain? Smart tv had YouTube, so could watch some movies and news etc in English. Be aware - the cab fare from the train/bus station is about 6€. Raul organised one for our departure - it turned out to be a friend with a small limo - for 12€!! The Cathedral is a mere 5 minutes around the corner.

Cathedral Museum
诗诗人赵四The cathedral museum and the cathedral are integrated, the tall part is the cathedral, and the museum is arranged along both sides. The entrance to the museum is vaguely visible in the picture below. Although the cathedral museum is not the kind of boutique style that you would imagine, if you wanted to understand the works of Matteo, the master who is closely related to the cathedral and has a lip-to-tooth relationship (after all, the masterpieces are now being repaired north of the church, and you can't see anything), Then you have to visit the cathedral museum. Tickets €6, not expensive. The museum is large in size, with four floors, classified exhibitions, libraries, tapestries of master works (some of the original works of Rubens, Goya), the original stone-carved choir of Matteo (destroyed in 1604, recently patched up), the Royal Pantheon, etc. The "Gate of Glory" introduced in the form of a TV film is worth your stop and watch. This is the sculpture group that is repaired at the north gate of the cathedral, including more than 200 sculptures by Master Matteo. Although photography is prohibited in the museum, I may not be completely banned from taking screenshots of my private TV film. Column? Just a few pictures from the TV...
Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela
乖乖小咪The Apostle Cathedral is the most famous church in Santiago de Compostela. It is located in the famous Quintana Square. It has been a church for more than 400 years. The two high-pitched towers are his standard. The exterior walls of the church have very delicate sculptures. Really worth coming.
Museo do Pobo Galego
诗诗人赵四The five stars are for the museum's exterior. I went there on Sunday afternoon. I was attracted by a sudden view outside the city wall. I looked at Google Maps and it should be a convent. The view of the old city inside the city wall was quite fascinating. I was attracted all the way and stayed there for a long time. It was three o'clock in the afternoon when I arrived at the Galician Museum. Alas, it was closed after two o'clock on Sundays. The first two pictures are the convent and the view of the city from there.
Praza da Quintana
乖乖小咪Quintana Plaza is the largest national plaza in Santiago. In the center of the square is the famous Quintana Cathedral. The square is very large and it is also the place where all tourists are most concentrated. The church looks very quaint and is definitely worth a visit.
