Reasonable room rates, room clean , water hot in bath/shower-food was extremely tasty, and excellent value for money for both evening meal and breakfast.
Weather was hot and only improvement would have been to keep complimentary water/juice in foyer topped up as no cool water or drinks available in room.
Stayed there while daughter had a table at comic con.yes the hotel is dated but it’s still a
Great hotel great place walkable to NEC arena.great value im sure we will be back next year
We had a fantastic stay overnight. fabulous staff willing to help very caring and understanding very helpful all the time we was there. breakfast was amazing. I’m very wonderfully presented those everything you wanted and all nicely displayed and absolutely wonderfully clean and the staff was great so Wood come back thank you. Thank you for everything bye-bye.
I live local, but due o having housework done and me being disabled, I was advised it would be beneficial for me to be out of the house for a few days.
I picked Double Tree Hilton as they were offering the best price.
I'm so glad I did. The staff could not do enough for you, especially Wendy, she is such an amazing lady, my 10 year old son said to me how amazing and helpful Wendy was and that says it all.
To be fair Birmingham at first glance coming out of the station doesn’t look all that safe for a foreign traveller. The route to the hotel would initially reinforce that impression. However after walking the city the next day for over 6-8 hours, while the location is NOT city Center, it is actually located in a good place close to all the major places I need to visit on foot; train station, the mega mall Bullring, Birmingham city center / cathedral / St Martin’s mkt, the hip new part of town - Gas Basin (canal waterways) and also the city’s modern library with the rooftop gdns (@ Centenary Square). The rooms looked like it was recently refurbished. For the price I paid (58 Pounds for 2 pax), it was the best value out of my entire 16 day UK trip covering 15 different towns - up & down the UK (incl London/Cambridge/Leicester/Coventry). In short, a pretty damn good deal. It had aircon which was a major blessing in summer as most other places I stayed, didn’t have that.
I had a lovely weekend , kind staff and very helpful especial the staff who was at reception on the 22rd of feb 2025 was so helpful thank you again. The breakfast was nice, enjoyed my stay.
Arrived for check in and was told they had made an error and offered me 2 rooms instead of 1 family room. As I had 2 minors with me this was not acceptable. They gave us 2 rooms with adjoining door so we could still be together.
The hotel arranged for me a room with barrier-free facilities, which was not very hygienic and made us uncomfortable. There is no air-conditioning in the room, only a fan. The UK is a bit unbearable when it encounters a severe summer.
The hotel’s parking lot became over crowded due to an event. Meaning we had to park in the airport’s car park and walk back.
Unfortunately the location of the hotel means that we were very close to the take off runway and we could hear planes all the time, the windows and walls were not soundproofed enough.
Lastly the pillows were rather uncomfortable as they were much too empty, felt like a ballon instead of an actual pillow.
Otherwise the room and the hotel were clean and the room service was actually surprisingly pleasant. The staff we encountered was friendly and helpful.
The food they served was really tasty as well.
A really good hotel which only fails to score higher for the following reasons.
The optional breakfast on the first morning of my stay was so good, and value for money, I booked for the following two mornings of my stay. Day two, again excellent quality of food and service.
Day three was a complete disappointment.
The cooked food was greasy and well passed it's best from the heated buffet.
Service from the staff was slow, tea was only luke warm.
If this had of been day one, I certainly wouldn't have booked again.
The room was equipped with everything I needed, tea and coffee, iron and board, additional fan and heating.
I felt the 40 inch TV was too large for the size of the room and it was placed on the dressing table which took up about 50% of the area.
The TV gad been ”adapted” to the usual ”Hotel Mode” settings and had very limited ”free” channels to view if compared to the standard terrestrial channels in the UK.
An online system was used to provide the available media and showed poor latency on several occasions.
A major negative being the system had no menu option to select the available stations.
Also, the room was not serviced during my three night stay. Not a big issue, but fresh toweling would have scored better.
This hotel could easily score better.

BBumblebee06I stayed at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Birmingham for 3 nights and had a fantastic experience. The hotel is in a perfect location—central, convenient, and great for exploring the city. It has a luxurious feel throughout, with modern decor and a very clean environment.
The staff were lovely—always polite, helpful, and welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The room was well-equipped with great amenities including coffee pods, tea, and coffee, as well as both still and sparkling water provided daily (a bottle of each).
A big plus was the in-room entertainment setup—you can easily connect your phone to the TV via the hotel Wi-Fi to stream your favourite shows on apps like Netflix and Prime Video.
Overall, I was really impressed with the comfort, service, and attention to detail. I’d definitely recommend Leonardo Royal Hotel Birmingham for a stylish and relaxing city break.
JJeff & LynLovely overnight stay.
Hotel was really busy with a large party but the staff looked after us really well.
Not a reflection on the hotel but they booked a taxi to pick us up and the taxi firm were totally useless. Having waited twenty minutes past the scheduled time, we called an Uber which was there in five minutes.
Overall, this is a great hotel which we have stayed at previously and will do so again.
TTomieMercure Birmingham west hotel is easy to locate, easy to check in, I and my husband loves the facilities, the pool, the gym, steam room and sauna, it was my first experience in the steaming room, the jacuzzi spa was amazing, the hotel is neat, I try to change my room but there were lot of guest, I was communicated to about it and it was clear, we love the services including the amazing breakfasts buffet 🥰🥰
AAsnafi NaderThe hotel location is great: 3 minutes to the New Street Station (i.e. the main/central railway station), Mailbox (a shopping and restaurant center along canals), and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, 5 minutes to China town, 10 minutes to Jewelry Quarter (all by walking)… The room was clean and the bed comfortable. However, the other guests’ showering and toilet flushing was overheard all the time/continuously, specially between 6 am-8 am. The breakfast is nice but the restaurant flow (the positions of the food, drinks etc., and the movements of the service staff) is not OK.
LLEEClean , staffs are nice , good service. Location is not close to city center Main Street. Take 15-20 mins to the main shopping mall. Apart that , everything is good
GGuest UserLovely staff, young and rushed off their feet, stayed for one night, stayed before 2018. Confused I paid for the privilege to stay in the hotel to attend the horse racing and watch Madness. Yet was confused that the hotel let anyone in to use the bar, from the race course when there was ample bars in the race ground for anyone not staying at the hotel. After Madness finished the only bar open is the hotel bar, because show is finished 10.00 home time and they want you out if you’re not staying at the hotel, which is fine, but if you are staying in the hotel as many of us were , bar was full, rammed so of course people wanted to sit outside because there are tables for the hotel outside but security had been told not to let anyone outside with drinks, how stupid is this, I understand you want to close the race course, so you need to restrict people from using the hotel if they aren’t staying there, and don’t be greedy and take peoples money knowing your going to be 60 people plus in a reception bar area, tiny thing like covdi happen few years back you should only serve hotel guest because that’s what you are, a hotel. And help the poor bar staff, young girl on her own, blokes walking out with 3/4 pints not paying and she’s on her own can’t chase them. Ps didn’t stay for breakfast too expensive, I was going to but even though it had increased in price quite a bit, but remembered it was cold last time we stayed.
CChikoooBest stay in the UK so far, its affordable for families and my stay was very comfortable…the reception was so helpful on EVERYTHING 💙parking was convenient…The amenities 11/10🤩 everything was included dishwasher, hob, pans, spoons, both AC & heater was in the unit…AMAZING💌 and to top it all off being a creative i absolutely adore the attention to detail and design of the place😌↕️ would definitely book another stay with Staycity😊

GGuest UserNice hotel. Booked the superior king room. Nice room with some issues.
The ceiling is quite low in the bathroom so when you’re standing in the bathtub, my head was quite close to the ceiling. I’m around 6 ft 2. The shower itself is quite good. There was a crack on the wall in the shower which needs to be fixed. Maybe installing a walk in shower would be better.
The room was otherwise clean and spacious.
They use two beds and stick it together to make one king size bed. Uncomfortable when sleeping as the beds tended to separate slightly when sleeping so you’re slightly sinking in the middle. They should have made this clearer. It would be much better if they have a proper king size bed.
The view was really nice from the room. Breakfast was extra and it was very good. It’s a buffet style breakfast.
Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Although I did t use it, the spa facilities were included in the price which is nice.
Lots of parking available and safe. The hotel close the gates at midnight but you can press the buzzer and they’ll let you in.
The hotel itself is a listed building so no lifts, but you can probably ask for help if with bags.
Hotel itself is beautiful. Would I visit again? Yes
