The hotel from the 1990s is in good condition. The rooms are bright and friendly, with white rough fibre tape appears to be freshly renovated. Beds, dressing box, refrigerator and desk corner are recreated with a bright birkenholz furnier. In the bathroom a large mirror such as new, shower sheet and washing table clean and maintained, but traces of calcification in the douche doors. The bath airing works excellently and is very quiet. The large window to the street is well isolated, the street noises are almost completely disconnected. Breakfast buffet in the light dining room meets the requirements of this class, the service is good and breakfast is offered for a long time. Overall, the price-performance ratio was very good. We're happy to come back.

The hotel is located in the middle of a 1960s high-density East-German-style housing district with a very 1990s-architecture, room furniture style reminiscent of a 1980s American Marriott (kind of faux-elegant), and movie decorations and photos from 1940s Hollywood with Bogart et al. (why, you may ask, Hollywood in Jena? Zeiss cine lenses?). In addition to being unspecifically dated, the hotel could also simply use a fresh coat of paint ... but: everything was clean, the personnel was super-friendly and helpful, the breakfast was plentiful and started at 6:00 (very accommodating for early risers!), the shower was nice and hot, and I had a very, very good-night sleep. The hotel is also close to a tram stop, supermarket, pharmacy, etc. In addition, we had a conference dinner there, which was a good-quality buffet with a variety of options, including vegetarian ones. Overall, a very good stay.

Very pleasant and absolutely convenient. I can't chew at all. Breakfast was fully OK, except the eggs that could have been warm :-). In the end effect for families, single travellers or business travellers an absolute option.

Fine hotel and very cheap. Friendly and easy checking and checkout. A guy checked us in and spoke really good English - he did a good job. We came to the hotel after a 8 hour drive from France so we were a bit tired. So it was good to find the Room inice and clean. The beds are good and it is a silent place. 24 hour reception is good and gives a feeling of security. Parking is pricey for 13 Euros per night. The hotel is located 10 minutes walk from city center with Goethes house.

There was a very nice room in the roof floor. Great and spacious. Bad with bathroom and rain shower. All very clean and maintained. Breakfast was unfortunately something unilateral and not so overview. A cup with coffee at the table would be great as you stand around the machine. The Croissants were too sweet and of poor quality. The other seeds went but had no baker freshness. There is a lot of potential to improve.

Stayed for two nights, perfect location for exploring the town, comfortable beds and pillows, excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Some interesting large old tapestries in the reception and dining room area. Car parking charges could be cheaper, though.

It is very unfortunate that we have to experience this during our last stay at BW Jena. We are a family with a young kid and we’ve stayed at this hotel a few times since beginning of 2023 without any issues. However, we started having issues during the last 2 stays with BW Jena. During stay in April, we were given a room that’s not yet cleaned. The annoying thing is that nobody will pick up the phone if you only calm them from the room, because there‘s only 1 person who works when we checked in around 7pm and if she’s busy taking care of another guest, then you’ll have to wait. We waited at least 30 minutes until we got a new room. Then we had to go down again to return the other room keys. Very inconvenient. Then at night I was ready to sleep and noticed there’s 1 blanket missing. I called the receptionist and she asked me to go down to get it (I’m already in my pajama and was ready to sleep, so again I wasn’t pleased). On our last visit, we were given a room with strong smoke smell. We have a small child and we don’t smoke. Moreover, the smoke smell gives us headaches. I learned from our past that the phone is useless, so I went down to ask for another room. The receptionist said there’s no other room and we basically had to take it. No other alternatives or compensation were offered to us (speaking about customer service). I’ve also called their Germany customer service number, but was rerouted to US customer service, as it was out of their business hours. Understandably, the US CST couldn’t do anything but expressed their emphaty. From the many times we stayed there, the rooms always look clean in the beginning, but over the time you’ll find some broken/cracked/non-functioning amenities in the room. Beds were spring bed - actually not to my taste, but I was willing to go back there because they have a bit bigger room than other hotels and my son needs bigger room to play and move around. Overall I find it unfortunate that the hotel doesn’t keep its 4-star service/rooms-standard. The receptionist became defensive when I asked her to check again about finding another room and just said no to anything I asked and was very unfriendly. I felt that had to pay and stay in a room that is not the same as what I reserved and if I say anything to the hotel they will treat you like their enemy.

I checked in at 7.4.23 15.00 online at the hotel. After entering my room, I had to notice that this was not particularly cleaned. In the bathroom and also the tape floor, dental cleaning cups missed. I told me at the reception which gave and reported for cleaning, she said tomorrow morning it will be cleaned then. The weaknesses toilet, bathroom and tape floor were not even so cleaned. The roller holder must not have been cleaned for ever. Drink still on the screwing of the toilet cover. On 9.4. 23 my room was not cleaned, and the beds were not made. Handtucks were not changed. Handle and bathtub were missing. If I didn't sleep like that. Dental cleaning cups were missing again. Then I picked up a tea at the automation and took this cup because the reception was not present, although up to 20.00 there was. Maybe a shoe suit would be fit. The breakfast offer was plenty and very good,it doesn't miss anything. There is something for every guest. The breakfast room is very small, I know other B&B hotels that offer more room and you can stay outside the breakfast times.

Great location, literally 2 minutes on foot to the Erfurt Cathedral. Great breakfast, good variety, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. The room itself is not what one will expect from a 4-stars-hotel. Absolutely uncomfortable, cold, old furniture which doesn't suit to such a hotel. Horribly noisy, basically you can hear your neighbours, awful! Not to mention the old noisy a/c! No coffee maker or at least a kettle in the room! Instead you're kindly asked to go to the reception and buy coffee or any drinks from the vending machine. And please, people, check the tissues package! If there are only several tissues left, then you'd better change the whole package instead of waiting till it's empty...or am I wrong?! During my next trip to Erfurt I will definitely try another hotel to compare it, this one gets from me the lowest possible mark!

Staff were very pleasant but there was very little English spoken. As in many hotels we stayed in Germany, there was only one black tea bag in a double room meant for two people! Very strange. One thing to note for all guests is regards to the safe. I could not work out how to key-in my own personal code number to lock/unlock the safe, so I went to reception and they gave me a slip of paper with a four digit code on it. I said that I wanted to enter my own (secret) number and was told that this could not be done! I argued that it should be possible to key in my own code but they said that I could not. I was not happy but had to accept it. Later I remembered a safe in another hotel where you could change the code by pressing a reset button on the inside edge of the door toward the hinge. I tried this and it worked. When I Checked out I left them with a written instruction in German (using an online translator) on how to change the code.

Ich kann die teilweise schlechten Erfahrungen nicht nachvollziehen. Wir waren am 1. Adventswochenende dort, da andere Hotels unverschämte Preise verlangt haben. Die Zimmer waren geräumig, optisch ansprechend und sauber, aber etwas hellhörig. Das Frühstück war gut und die Mitarbeiter freundlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis hat gestimmt. Die kostenlosen Parkplätze sind ein Pluspunkt und in der Nähe ist eine Bushaltestelle, um das Zentrum ohne Auto zu erreichen.

We stayed with 6 adults in 3 standard rooms. Rooms very neat and clean and good sound insulation. Breakfast was ample everything you would expect was there. Staff at reception and bar was friendly, staff at breakfast was rather stiff and came across as a bit cold. All in all a pleasant stay.

The hotel is located in an exhibition area in Erfurt, next to a large supermarket and a small Vietnamese restaurant. There is an S-Bahn platform in front of the hotel. Parking is available but charges apply. The staff at the front desk of the hotel was very welcoming and the breakfast buffet was quite rich, but there were several service staff in the restaurant that didn't seem to be particularly friendly to Asians! The room was clean, tidy and bright, but the space was slightly smaller and the room was free of charge.

We stayed in this hotel on two separate nights bookending a trip to Frankfurt. This hotel is not - in our experience - typical of the Mercure brand. Far too often Mercure's are in good locations but somewhat rundown, tired and in need of attention. This is quite the opposite. It appears to have been wholly refurbished in the last five years, it is looked after. The hotel is conveniently situated near to both the old town and the main, new shopping area, both being no more than five minutes walk away. It is a ten to fifteen minute walk from the railway station or (for us) a €10 taxi ride. There is paid for car parking if required. This is a deceptively large hotel, the short frontage belies the fact that it has 141 rooms. The hotel stretches back from its frontage - we felt it was long and not very wide. It is spread over four floors and possibly an attic. We were on the fourth floor for our first visit and on the first floor for the second. Entry into the hotel from the street leads to a small reception area with ottoman seating. Screened from reception is a small bar and another soft seating area. The bar had elusive opening times - but seemed not to operate before 18:00 hours. Service was good. There is a restaurant that is not the breakfast room but that was not open during our stay with no sign of opening on the horizon. All public areas were clean, tidy and well maintained, albeit with a Alpine overtone! Access to the upper floors is via dedicated lifts or stairs depending upon the location of the room, with some rooms there is quite a walk to the lift. There is a small garden and paved area with seating. We saw no specific provision for disabled access but believe that the hotel is easy enough to negotiate. There is a separate breakfast room which works very well albeit it is not large. It is at the furthest end of the hotel from reception and bypasses some of the meeting rooms. Whilst these rooms were used during our stays we experienced no difficulties. We took breakfast early and the restaurant was never full or cramped. Breakfast is generous but prettty standard continental fare. Our first room (413) was a standard room and disappointing although it was clean and well cared for. Our second room however (136) was an upgrade and provided exceptional space and comfort for a reasonable price. Had we been able to satisfactorily understand the room descriptions and attributes on the website a room such as 136 would have been our preference. It had a large and comfortable double bed, a small seating area with table, a separate desk along with the usual accessories of a safe, TV, wifi etc. We didn't try the TV but everything else worked. There is no aircon but there is very effective radiator heating. We can imagine that opening the windows for some rooms would produce a great deal of street noise, but both our rooms were towards the rear of the hotel and quiet. The location of the hotel is first-rate, the city center square is just outside, and the small theater is opposite. Goethe-related repertoires are staged every day. Just a few steps away is the pedestrian street. The restaurant is superb, with first-class service and food. The hotel lobby is connected to the restaurant with a hall, full of paintings on the wall, and concerts are held from time to time. There is a large parking lot, the extra bed depends on the room type you book

Wir sind seit vier Tagen im Dorint Hotel und können nur schwärmen...vom Zimmer und den Betten angefangen,dem leckeren Frühstück,(alles frisch und liebevoll angerichtet) bis zu den überaus herzlichen und zuvorkommenden Angestellten (sowohl Zimmermädchen als auch Servicepersonal). Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß sehr gut zu erreichen..wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

nice hotel. everything is provided. Food is very good. Rooms are a little passed, but still ok. Bath and shower. Very friendly! the picture of there hotel is not in every room like that :). very near the highway , so that's cerainly a plus point.

When I came, I saw a country house in the rain, which was the kind of big house in Agatha's novel that stood alone in a field, and when night came, there would be a secret room murder, and I was looking forward to getting up in the morning and serving a cup of coffee to go for a walk in the endless fields. I found that I could rent and lived without thinking. I woke up in the morning and heard the rain hitting the window. I opened the curtains and was stunned by the sight. The cherry blossom trees in the garden downstairs were swaying in the rain, and the petals were snowing. The window was wrapped around the thick vines, and the rain was smashed on the grass. The smell was the fragrance of wet moss, earth and grass forest. It's so beautiful. Be sure to come and live!

The hotel is very centrally located and is very modern. We had a deluxe room at the Steigenberger. The too close itself is generous and thus corresponds to the 4 stars mentioned. The room had a bathtub, which isn't exactly standard these days. I can't judge the breakfast service, since in my opinion it is clearly too expensive. The only criticism is the not really working air conditioning. This was not really up to the summer temperatures. What strikes me about almost every hotel is the lack of a clock in the room. Another negative point from my point of view are the relatively expensive fees for the underground car park. You could certainly offer a more customer-friendly and cheaper method. On the whole, this hotel is recommended.

Prepayment is required, be so common in the house.... The alternative reception team of a play student and a young Russian made the bad first impression on the following day. No baggage help. Room small, to the courtyard, over a firearm parquet, partly with persistent tape coating. Putting door is continuously open. TV - device with too small screen size. Rooms charm of the 1980s. Bathroom unacceptably small, almost no deposit areas. Wi-Fi there, but only at a certain location in the room outside the bed. Room good, breakfast best, rich. Individual chairs in the room show no dressing and broken seats under the consumed connection. Eating good, friendly service with insufficient wine advice. Fee for the courtyard parking 6€/d. It was my first time in the hotel, the staff is very welcoming and extremely friendly. Started with the check-in, very accommodating and helpful, restaurant staff was very helpful and even gave recommendations for little bars within Jena. Food was typical regional food and extremely tasty - regards to the chef. Meeting rooms are big and lunch is available as well. Rooms are practical but very quiet. Internet connection has not been an issue even on the 2nd floor. You can walk into the city center and train station Jena Paradies is very close by. Big parking space opposite side of the hotel. Can´t wait to come back !
