We were greeted with warm hospitality by the owner Angela when we arrived to check into Franz Josef Oasis.
The executive king suite room was clean, cosy and spacious. We enjoyed sitting on the sofas with warm blankets place for our comfort near the fireplace.
The location of this place is also good as it 5 minutes drive to the town where we had a delicious dinner at Blue Ice Restaurant and Bar which was recommended to us by Angela.
The service is excellent and I will definitely recommend this place to those who are travelling to Franz Josef !

The apartment we stayed in was quite new and felt pleasant. Rooms are quite spacious and clean. The Kitchen was new and well equiped. It’s in a small township near Fox Glacier. There was a view point, which was about a few minutes driver from the motel, where the view of the snow peaks and glacier was spectacular. It is also not far from Franz Joseph glacier.

This hotel is located midway between Fox Glacier and Lake Wanaka, with not much around it, though there's a bar and restaurant nearby that serves good local food. As for the hotel itself, it's a bit smaller and older compared to other New Zealand hotels, but it's well-maintained. Having a parking spot right outside the entrance was a huge plus, especially since it was raining that day, which made it super convenient.

Guest UserThe male receptionist who greeted us was not particularly friendly; and only when we got to our first floor room did we read about a luggage service. The room was tastefully furnished and clean, and other staff we interacted with were friendly. However the biggest issue is that the walls between rooms are are paper thin so we could hear people next door and doors banging. This woke us up early on both nights we stayed. If you stay - bring ear plugs. There was a lounge with a bar - the bar was permanently closed so there was no where to get a hot or cold drink unless you went to a cafe down the road.

The hotel's location was fantastic, right next to the glacier. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, but the hotel itself, including its furnishings, is quite dated. This is why I deducted points for the furnishings, especially since they weren't very clean (dirty kettle, broken refrigerator, iron covered in limescale). The room and bathroom, however, were clean. The service team was friendly but not very well-coordinated. The portion sizes were good, and the food tasted good. The restaurant could have been cleaner; there were still crumbs from breakfast on the windowsills in the evening. It's okay for a short stop, but it no longer meets modern standards.

We had been advised by a relative that this hotel on the beach was worth staying at. We had a deluxe room up on the hill across the main road so we were not actually on the beach. However the view of the ocean was fantastic particularly in the stormy weather. Due to the weather we had to drive down to the restaurant for breakfast. Restaurant fully booked out by tour groups for dinner but the tavern about 1.5km down the road saw us right for a meal. The complex seemed to have several different standards of rooms and I think ours was the best.

We came here to stay by train. Although the motel is not very new, it has everything. There are supermarkets and daily necessities stores at the foot of the mountain. It takes about ten minutes to walk there. When the sidewalk is about to disappear, there is a trail connecting it in a hidden place, and you can walk to the parking lot of the grocery store.
The hotel can pick you up at the train station, which is actually very suitable for people like us who have big luggage from overseas and don’t have a car. recommend

Guest UserAlthough we unfortunately encountered heavy rain and couldn't participate in any activities, staying in the room and listening to the rain was still quite nice.
