The cheapest accommodation in Matala. Not close to the center, but still considered within walking distance to the center. Fully equipped, the only lack of equipment, should be there as well, drinking water, only coffee, staying this time for the second time. If anyone wants to save a budget or has a limited budget, you can choose here. Clean, good service staff During the summer, there will be a pool service as well, clean, good atmosphere, mountain view, complete, only lack of water, hehe.

Hotel’s staff are really friendly and helpful. Hotel is quite new, and worth the price we paid. Location is a short drive from town, and there are some nearby eateries. Breakfast spread is good and the roof terrace has a good view. Room is spacious and bed is comfortable. But it can do with a luggage stand.

The hotel is in a great location to the town and the staff were very friendly. I would not recommend the standard room as it was extremely small and felt claustrophobic, we did try to upgrade the day we got there but they were unfortunately fully booked, as a couple with two suitcases there was no room whatsoever and very limited hanging space so had to leave the suitcases open on the floor and climb over them to get around. The air con had mould growing out of it and left the room smelling awful. We were also only given two towels which are only changed once every three days, it would have been nice to get a hand towel so you aren't using the one towel for everything. This is also the case for pool towels they are only changed once every three days. I think the hotel would benefit from an overall refresh, painting etc and the pool to be cleaned more often, although the water was clear there was green mould build up around the sides as well as the white pool loungers. I would not say that our room was 4 stars but that may have been based on the bigger rooms that are available.

The room was clean and tidy, and the facilities were very new. Upon check-in, we received a free drink voucher, one per person. The room had a scenic balcony, which was a great experience. (Note: Only rooms on the 5th and 6th floors have the best balcony views!) All drinks in the minibar were complimentary for the first round. The hotel has a paid underground parking garage for 10 euros a day. You can also park on the street nearby, but considering safety and the difficulty of finding a space, we opted for the hotel parking. The garage has a direct elevator to the hotel, which is very convenient. You need to ring a doorbell to contact the front desk for entry and exit, ensuring good security. Breakfast hours are from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The breakfast selection was quite varied, and the quality was average.

Clean and tidy, good location, friendly and all good hotels. However, the unfortunate thing is that the room is a bit small, so I can't open the carrier around the bed. I could just put it all in one side, and I could just make a space, and I could spread a carrier 24 inches. In addition, the sound insulation on the corridor side is very weak. From the early morning, people move and talk, the noise of cleaning empty rooms is very heavy, so they can't rest at ease.

The hotel is very good, just a dozen minutes walk from the museum! Hygiene: Very good! Environment: Comfortable! In the central city, there are dedicated parking spaces, which is very convenient for travel! The price-performance ratio of the room is also very high, and the breakfast is also very good!

Ttai0910Although the hotel is located in the sea, it is close to the bus terminal, the airport bus station, the archaeological museum, the castle and the most lively August 25th street. It is within walking distance. We have 3 people on this trip and choose to live in a family room. The hotel provides a lot of space, up to 35 square meters, enough to live in 4-5 people, good decoration design, The breakfast is also rich and delicious. The disadvantage is that the hotel is located in the old area. The surrounding environment is relatively narrow and messy. Because of the off-season, the hotel's top floor is not open. There are two hotels under the same area and the group. Come back next time. I want to try it.

GGuest UserWe stayed here for 4 nights. I had booked a sea view room, but they said it was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi. While the jacuzzi was nice and relaxing, the sea view was quite limited, which was a bit disappointing. The property is located in a remote and peaceful part of the island. It has excellent internet access and a decent outdoor gym. Since it is right by the sea, you can enjoy walking or running along the coast to the nearest town, Mavrikianon. One important thing to mention is that the property does not have direct access to the sea. To swim, you need to go to either Plaka Beach, which requires a minimum spend of €40 per person to use the sunbeds, or to Mavrikianon Beach, which is much more affordable at €5 per person for the entire day. Mavrikianon Beach is very pleasant and close to markets where you can buy drinks. There are also some good food and drink spots nearby, such as Rudi’s Bar, a British-style pub, and Porto Rino, which serves great pizzas. Make sure to skip Nico’s Fish Tavern and try the Ferryman instead — you won’t regret it. What we found most frustrating was the lack of mosquito screens on the windows. Sleeping with the windows open was not really an option, even though the natural breeze was wonderful. Our room had air conditioning, but we tend to get sick sleeping with it on. There was a ceiling fan as well, but it is a shame to miss out on the fresh air simply because of a missing screen. The breakfast was also a disappointment. There were very few options, the coffee was not good, and the omelettes were overcooked. The most inconvenient part of our stay was the parking system. You have to check in and out with security every time, which felt excessive and time-consuming. It gave the impression of entering a high-security zone, not a relaxing holiday resort. Overall, it was a good experience with some nice features, but for the price, it lacks comfort and convenience in a few key areas. .

GGrimI knew as soon as I heard goats with their little bells on that I’d like this place. Quiet, quaint, country accomodation on the way to Samaria Gorge. The family who run it were all lovely, and mum even made me up a picnic to take on the hike before dad gave us a lift to the starting point. Maybe it’s because it never happens back home, but I ordered a beer downstairs upon arrival, and got given free olives - that made my absolute day and, though previously incorruptible, my loyalty was bought instantly and totally. I also had the rabbit fry up thingo, which tasted great, although the salad itself was even better, though it curse my carnivorous tongue to say it. The bedroom had a great balcony for looking out over the green and rocky hills. Bed was super comfy, and it actually was a little colder way up in the Omalos elevation (in June) which made sleep come very easily for those like me who run hot. Big fluffy blanket in the cupboard though for those of you who like to be warmer. The bathroom is a bit small and being on the tall end of the height spectrum I had to be wary not to knock myself out on the hand basin when using the toilet. But if you’re under 6 foot you’ll patting your genetics on their small back. The building is relatively old so expect to hear some footfalls as other guests go past your room, but other than that, blissfully quiet overnight. The daughter of the family speaks really good English which helped a couple times, when regretfully I seemed to have forgotten all my Greek (which I rudely hadn’t learned prior to arriving). I can’t recommend this homely hotel enough, so if you’re on your way to hike the gorge, park your car here and stay the night. Then stay in Agia Romelli at the very end of the hike. Then come back to Omalos the next day and get some home style cooking back into your weary body. Or whatever floats your ferry.

GGuest UserIt was not peak season, maybe because of that staffs were not so prepared. I waited long time for the pick up from the reception to the hotel room, same for when I tried to ask for an umbrella and other information. Staffs seemed always busy talking on the phone or with each other. My door had some problems , you need some skills to open it, the shuttle bus driver spent five minutes opening it. Staffs in the restaurants were friendly, fairly speaking, the buffet restaurant was quite nice, catering diverse and delicious food. The seafood restaurant served a set menu, for which I held high expectations since I was only allowed to replace one buffet dinner for a la cart restaurant. Food itself was fair, albeit overseasoned( to me was too salty), and two or three dishes will be served at the same time and honestly they were not even hot. Room service was very efficient and the room was always clean. Private pool was nice, thought it was cold and windy now. So check the weather before going, sunny days and rainy ones are totally different experience. Hotel beach was beautiful, but again, I didn’t get my Paloma cocktail after waiting for half an hour. They provided interesting shows in the evening , I pitifully missed it but you need to have a look, performer are quite passionate. And about transportation, you can choose either hotel’s pickup that is expensive but convenient, or the local bus ( i chose KTEL, it’s very comfortable but please check the timetable on the website). This place is distant to everywhere, you can use a nearby supermarket that has everything at a fair price. If possible, you’d better rent a car, which could significantly improve your experience . I didn’t enjoy myself this time, somehow because of my personal affairs, hopefully you have a good time there!

MMish and DashMy stay at The Royal Senses Hotel in Crete was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, combining modern luxury with traditional Cretan touches that create a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, impeccably clean, and offer breathtaking views of the sea, especially during sunset. Every detail, from the comfortable beds to the high-end amenities, was thoughtfully curated for maximum comfort. I especially loved the private pool, which added an extra layer of relaxation to my stay. Dining at the hotel was a highlight, with a variety of restaurants offering fresh, delicious, and locally sourced dishes. The Cretan cuisine was outstanding, and the service was attentive and professional. There’s something for every palate, and I never had a meal that wasn’t top-notch. The resort’s amenities are equally impressive, with a spa that provides indulgent treatments, a well-equipped fitness center, and multiple pools perfect for lounging. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing retreat or a base to explore Crete, The Royal Senses delivers on every front. The hotel’s location is ideal for exploring the island, with easy access to nearby beaches, charming villages, and historical sites. The staff also went above and beyond to offer recommendations and assist with arranging excursions. Overall, The Royal Senses Hotel is a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic Cretan hospitality. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable stay in Crete. This review highlights the hotel’s luxury, location, and excellent service, appealing to travelers seeking a high-end experience.

GGuest UserWe stayed for 12 nights in total. We asked for a room with south-facing windows but it was never given to us, even when the room was empty. It was so unfriendly. The older cleaners were very serious, but the younger ones were very bad. They were not timely and did not put away the items. Complaints were useless. The breakfast was very good. Although the variety was the same every day, it was rich and very Cretan.

GGuest UserI was waiting more from the hotel… I don’t think the pictures shows exactly what the hotel offer… specially the pools… Me and my boyfriend had a very bad situation. We went to a tour in Santorini and the Ferry boat was late on the way back. Our guide called the hotel asking for a late dinner for us and the hotel said they would provide. When we reached in the hotel we saw that they put our food ON THE FLOOR, close to the room door. I made a mistake (I assume) I wanted hang out that thing saying “ make up my room” but I choose the wrong side and put there “ do not disturb “ But if our guide called the hotel saying that we were in Santorini of course they could go into the room to put our food in the fridge or keep in at the bar… I went down and talked to a guy in the repception showed him the picture I attached here and he answered me that was my mistake putting the “do not disturb” at the door and he could do nothing for us, we should eat that food that was on the floor 😱😡. No excuses for this… On the day after I talked to the manager and she apologized and gave us a voucher for the lunch. We apologized but I will never forget this situation…
