Amapola Resort

The front of the hotel can be misleading, as the hotel is actually quite nice. The rooms are pretty good. The pool area is large and well designed, and have a bar right there. A lot of the rooms have view to the pool. The tennis/basketball/indoor soccer field is great, with roof. They have pool tables, table tennis and foosball. The restaurant is 24/7, which comes in very handy, and also adds the advantageof not being tied to a specific schedule for the free breakfast that's included. Parking can be a little confusing at first, but it's actually close to the rooms (I would improve it by addign signs on the road indicating how to get to the parking lot).

Stayed at this beautiful hotel for two nights. Very clean and comfortable and excellent friendly staff. Beautiful swimming pools and tennis courts, also pool tables. For those into fitness there is a Gym on the property with all sorts of equipment for exercising. Ipad size safe in the room. WIFI, breakfast, and onsite parking included. Would definately return someday....hopefully for a longer stay.

Santa Juana Lodge & Nature Reserve

My husband and I incorporated Santa Juana Lodge into our honeymoon trip and it was an absolutely stunning pleasure of an experience. Right from the beginning all staff were so welcoming and friendly and our lodge was just stunning. Clean, stocked with all we needed, and a beautiful view you can only get by making the trip into the mountains. I saw a couple reviews complain of the drive but all I can say is that if you want the experience of being somewhere so authentically beautiful and off the grid, you need to expect a bit of off-roading style driving to get to it. Allan was very helpful with his recommendations of what time to catch sight of the best birds right outside of our lodge, what to do while we visited, and even how to make our food even more authentic (sauces to try, combinations) and Andres was so sweet remembering our coffee preferences and noting that we should take our vehicle with us when visiting the waterfall because I was pregnant and the hike back would be long and steep (thank goodness he made us think twice because it would have been quite the trek) We loved the waterfall and had it all to ourselves for the few hours we were there. Safe to swim and beautifully kept with seating, pathways, and even changing stalls if needed. The food was delicious and so fresh- we loved that it was authentic and gave us a true taste of costa rican diet. We booked massages as well rather than an excursion as we have lots of others planned for later in our trip and we were so happy we did. It was lovely and there happened to be a storm during the massage which added to the tranquility. 10/10 recommend ❤️

Loved Sloth Backpackers. The hostel welcomed me with open arms the minute I arrived. Jeff at reception was super helpful! Gave me all the information I needed including the recommended tours. He helped with the shuttles in order to get from place to place. Shared kitchen was very clean as well as the dorm rooms Big bonus… hot water so that’s always fun!!
Tango Mar Beachfront Boutique Hotel & Villas

The hotel was simply exquisite, offering impeccable service beyond our expectations. From the stunning views, the pristine pools and beach to the delightful cuisine, every aspect of our stay was top-notch. My family thoroughly enjoyed every moment. A special thanks to La Grande Madame for her graceful presence and unwavering attention to her guests' needs.
Crocs Resort & Casino

Beautiful resort with warm pool, clean beaches, and good service. The food has been very good with extra points to the coffee cafe. Considering it’s the off season, we had plenty of open space to ourselves with beautiful weather. The promotional plan they offered was not well executed, and we had to make several trips to the front desk to get it cleared up. But everyone was very accommodating to help.
Fuego Lodge

I booked two nights and ended up staying a week and a half. Felt so comfortable and welcome by the amazing staff and the serene atmosphere , just a five minutes walk from the rather noisy and dusty northern center of Santa Teresa. The hotel is centered around a lovely pool, where guests can make friends with other guests, surrounded by beautiful lush tropical gardens with squirrels, plenty of birds, and howler monkeys hanging in the trees high above. Rooms are clean and cool with A/C and most also have ceiling fans. The decor and amenities vary between the different room types. I recommend the rooms with 2 queen beds by the pool, they are the most modern. Breakfast is good, although not very big (which is what I prefer) and you can chose from about 7 different choices ranging from typical tico, or omletts , pancakes, fruit & yogurt to my favorite french toasts. Beach access is about a 10 mins walk, at the Selina North, with incredible very powerful surf (in season). Close by good restaurants include Eat Street, Somos Cafe further north, the local Pura Vida soda for typical food. Super Ronny#2 for groceries is very close and is open till late. My favorite think about the hotel is the friendly staff, who are happily to assist with anything. They are all lovely especially Ampi and Thomas at the front desk and the manager Barbara. Will definitely be back :)
Hotel & Spa Poco a Poco - Costa Rica

Santa Elena
We really liked this place. It is not top end luxury, but it is clean, comfortable and has a very convenient location. The nature trail, common areas, pool area and gardens are all very well maintained. The included breakfast was also very high quality and the reception staff were all very welcoming and friendly. We would happily stay here again. The only minor complaint is that food prices in the restaurant were a little high, but it's not a big issue given there are many places to eat close by that offer better value.
Hotel Villa Caletas
4.5/569 Reviews
We spent 4 nights at Villa Caletas for our daughter’s wedding. The hotel was lovely. The setting and the views were amazing! Our standard deluxe room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed and large bathroom. The dinners provided for the wedding were wonderful and beautifully served. The infinity pool was refreshing without being cold. And the menu for snacks and lunch poolside had something for everyone’s taste. Yario took good care of all of us at the pool. All of the staff were caring and professional. We took a couple Uber rides into Jaco which was fun and reasonably priced. The wildlife around the hotel was amazing! Macaws, toucans, monkeys were seen by all of our group. Truly a magical place.
