Glynhill Hotel & Spa Near Glasgow Airport

Hotel seemed a bit tired and in need of some tlc, staff all friendly when spoken to and bar staff helpful. Bar area seemed a bit cramped and awkward. Our room was supposed to be executive but felt pretty cramped. Have stayed elsewhere for less and had more space. The bathroom had nowhere to put toiletries in or out of the shower and the toilet in a very enclosed space between the wall and the glass shower door. Actually banged my shoulder on the toilet roll holder! Room was clean but bed was rock hard and neither of us managed to get much sleep due to having to keep moving off the numb joint so often. The room was on the second floor and absolutely roasting so had to keep the fan on all night which was really noisy as well. Breakfast was plentiful and set out well but a bit tasteless. Overall disappointing stay for our anniversary.

My wife and I stayed here last Saturday night (12/10) as we had an early flight Sunday morning, upon check in the receptionist asked if we were here for the GBX night, I said no and asked what it was, she said it was some local DJ playing in the hotel (we later found out the hotel frequently hosts tribute nights and events on a Saturday night). We went up to our room which was ok - nothing special and went down for dinner at the restaurant where we were met by a bunch of drunken, screaming women on a hen night, apparently there were a couple of hen nights in for this DJ event - a couple of lads in the bar were giving the women piggy backs through the restaurant cheering at the top of their voices. It settled down for 5 mins then the fire alarm went off and everybody was evacuated from the building - well I say everybody - while most people were standing outside the building for 45 mins waiting for the fire brigade to eventually arrive there were people still in their rooms waving to the people standing outside freezing. Upon re-entry to the building there was no apologies of any sort from hotel staff and we made our way back to the restaurant, We had our coldish meal then went upstairs to our room. About 1.30 am the noise coming from the rooms a couple of doors down was terrible, music blaring, women screaming and singing, I let it go for about half an hour then had to phone reception to complain about the noise, the lad on reception asked me what room it was coming from and I was unsure but I gave him a rough idea. It quietened down for about 10 minutes then started up again, my wife and I packed our bags then headed down to reception to ask for another room. I told the lad on reception I'd phoned down to complain about the noise and he said he'd been up to then to tell them to keep the noise down and I said it hadn't worked because they were still making a racket - now this was 03.30 am, he said it was always the same on a Saturday night so we got another room in a quieter area of the hotel and lay on the beds for an hour before heading off to the airport. The worse night ever staying in a hotel and we won't be back. AVOID!!!

We booked this as we knew our flight home to Glasgow Airport was landing late and we could not face the long drive home at such a time. By the time we cleared with our bags and walked to the hotel from the terminal it was 2am when we checked in. Unfortunately we were given room 115, which was opposite the elevators on the first floor. It was also not only an accessible room with wet bathroom (no shower unless you wanted to flood the whole room) but also had a ”connecting” door to the next room. No idea who was on the either side, but not ideal for either of us given our late arrival. I was feeling extremely tired and and went straight to my bed - unfortunately it was far too soft and it was a double, so we tended to fall into the middle where the ”hole” or ”dip” in the mattress was. With us both trying to sleep on the outside of the mattress for comfort we continually pulled the small duvet from each other in an attempt to keep warm after our return from Africa. The pillows were also too soft for my liking, however that was minor compared to the mattress. There hours later, at around 5am the corridor started coming alive with excited children heading off on their holidays, running and squealing, literally!! I can't blame them for being enthusiastic, but perhaps their parents might have understood that some guests might still wish to sleep at that time? Thus our morning continued so when we finally dragged ourselves up for breakfast around 9am I was extremely tired and somewhat grumpy... Now to breakfast; a fairly good selection was on offer if you came at a quiet time. I saw some guests leave towards the end our meal time as they did not want to wait in the queue for what was left. My main gripe about the breakfast was again, not the hotel's fault, but the guests, who presumably are not used to staying in hotels and don't know what swerving utensils are for. I saw one female guest pick up and touch several slices of bread and returning them before picking what she put in the toaster machine. I purposely picked a slice she hadn't pawed and waited whilst it went through the machine, then just as it arrived a young man (her son I believe) whisked it away in front of me. Manners non existent. The breakfast staff were helpful and friendly and the food on offer was perfectly adequate if all the guests knew how to behave. All in all, we picked this hotel for a catch up sleep after a late flight in and we didn't achieve that so we will not be back.

We were surprised to be given a free upgrade on arrival which was a great start to our holiday. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. Amazing water pressure in the shower - it felt like I was under a waterfall! :) We decided to have our dinner at the hotel which was lovely. Check-out the next morning was super quick and with just a short walk across the road to the airport you could not get a better location.

My husband and I got married at Gleddoch at the start of October 2024. Since booking our wedding 2 years ago we have stayed twice and each time our experience has been better than the last. It is clear there is a lot of investment in the hotel to better the guest experience. The events team were great to work with and made our vision come to life. Nothing was too much hassle, even an outdoor ceremony on a drizzly day or a bird of prey bringing the rings. On our big all the staff were friendly and accommodating. Our wedding ran smoothly and our guests had an amazing day. Everyone is still complimenting the food and the standard of the rooms. The food was consistently good every time we have eaten in the hotel. The hotel was also extremely accommodating of food allergies, which was extremely important to us. Our guests loved the option of using the spa facilities during their stay and I am excited to see the changes following the current round of upgrades. Accessible rooms were available for those who needed them too. We will definitely be back to celebrate at Gleddoch.

The flight was late, and the flight on the first day arrived in the early morning of the next day. Fortunately, I was able to have a good sleep, and the breakfast was good! The staff was also very friendly. Overall, I recommend it. It may take more than 10 minutes to walk from the airport. If you are not familiar with the route, it will feel far to take a detour. Because I arrived late, the hotel is nothing to say, nice

4 of us booked back in May for the Howard Donald event, £55 per ticket with a 2 course meal and a glass of bubbly on arrival. We were shown to our table and met with afternoon tea on cake stands. I had my own due to dietary requirements but the other three in my group had one cake stand between them. We took one from another place setting and the waiting staff then replaced it. There was no consistency between the stands, some had pate and some didn’t, one tiny quiche to share between 2. At no point were we told the meal had been changed to afternoon tea and no apology was received. At some point later in the day there was water in the ladies toilet so we couldn’t flush the toilets or wash hands and then there was no toilet paper. The venue quite clearly could y cope with the even and a wedding. We left early, as did lots of people, very disappointed and feeling pretty ripped off.

The Abbey Inn

I stayed here for one night only. I was in Paisley to watch St Mirren v Valur in the UEFA Conference League. Having been to Paisley before, I walked from the Airport into the Town and then onto The Abbey Inn on the edge of Town. It was a fair distance but, I enjoy walking. The Abbey Inn is a large pub with accomodation. My single room was small but adequate for my requirements with ensuite facilities. I had breakfast included in the rate which was good with plenty of choice. I would recommend this place to stay as it offers food and beer on site. It is a fair distance from the Town Centre. However, there is a bus stop 5 minutes away where you can catch one into the town centre. I walked and it took me 20+ minutes. There's plenty of bars in the Town to choose from. I walked onto the football ground and back to the hotel after the game. It took me about 45 minutes and I made it well in time for last orders. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it, even though it was a bit pricey for one night B&B at £87.
