Copthorne Hotel Palmerston North

We enjoyed our one night stay. It was easy to locate the hotel. The front desk manager was courteous and friendly and helpful. The hotel room was cozy, clean and spacious. We had a nice view of Palmy from the hotel room. There was an AC, a mini fridge, hot water, kettle, coffee, black tea, flavoured tea, milk and sugar available in the room. Unfortunately, you have to bring your own bottle of water, toothbrush & toothpaste. No hairdryer. Very comfortable bed & mattress. There's also a gymnastic and laundry facility available. Parking facility was available for the hotel's customers. Pak n Save was just across the street. There was also Burger King, Thai restaurants, a pub and some other eating spot nearby. There was breakfast and dinner available upon purchase at the hotel. Part of the hotel is under renovation. We reached there in the late afternoon and left around 10 a.m so most probably, this could be the reason we didn't hear any noise. We really wish we could stay more than a night and get the chance to explore Palmy a bit more.

This is our favorite motel in the North Island and we have stayed 6 times now. The spa studio room is nice and roomy, with great area for suitcases off the floor which saves our backs. The bed is super large and super comfy. The spa was super relaxing. Plenty of hot water, and the plunger coffee was a lovely addition. Lovely friendly service staff. Highly recommended to anyone looking for the same experience. Thanks to the owners.
Distinction Coachman Hotel, Palmerston North

The only problem we had was the room was double booked for what ever reason . We require a refund for the second room as it was cancelled by the Coachman.

This is probably the hotel accommodation closest to the top of the mountain. From the hotel, you can see two volcanic cones and the surrounding wilderness (not every room can see it). The hotel is at the starting and end of the Taranaki Falls Trail. The weather was clear that night, and I took photos of the stars with my phone. I booked the Ruapehu room this time. The room is relatively small. The Ctrip picture shows that there is a large bed and a bunk bed, but the upper bunk is a storage type. It is usually folded against the wall. If you want to use it, you can unfold it and it feels unreliable. There is thick dust, no mattress, and poor usability. In fact, it is a large bed and a small bed. The hotel ”mainly focuses on environmental protection concept” and does not provide shampoo and shower gel (there is a soap labelled shampoo, but I used it and it is far from real shampoo, it has no conditioning effect at all, and it is eye-irritating), does not provide plastic bottled water, and the room lighting is dim. There is a public laundry room, but the opening hours are limited, it seems to be 7:00-20:00. I checked in late and didn't use it. There is no one at the front desk at night. If you go late, you can open the door by yourself to collect mail. There is no food at night, you need to prepare your own. There is a kettle in the room, but no kitchen. There is a small settlement at the foot of the mountain 20 minutes drive from the hotel. There are some restaurants, but it is not clear whether they are open at night. Check-out time is 10 o'clock, very serious, housekeeping will knock on the door on time, late is not allowed, unless you pay extra $25/hour, I paid extra. This hotel is suitable for mountaineering and hiking outdoor enthusiasts who get up early and go to bed early. The main focus is on experience and naturally does not care about comfort.
The Park Hotel Ruapehu

The current rating of this hotel is too low, and it seems that the data has not been refreshed. In fact, the hotel is very good. If you stay for two nights, the cleanliness is the best among all the hotels I have stayed in. The food in the restaurant is very, very delicious. I highly recommend it if you go to Tongariro. You don’t have to worry about running out of food! Moreover, this hotel can pick up and drop off the mountain climbing shuttle bus, and the facilities are also very complete! The only drawback may be that the room is a bit small, but the service, facilities and restaurant are enough to give it full marks! ! ! Highly recommended~~

The grandfathers and grandmothers at the front desk are very enthusiastic, the oversized jacuzzi, the parking space is just right, can stop. There are also many Chinese restaurants in the town, which is very good as the middle station for self-driving.

Hotel value was very good location is good However, I mistook it for breakfast included, so I ate breakfast and charged it. Trip.com says $24 per person. The counter asked for $28. Of course, I paid 24 dollars, but it felt a little like that. I had a good rest anyway

Big spaced and one bedroom, check in was smooth. Very much enjoyed our stay, did regret not booking another night while in the region. Definitely will be staying here again when we pass through Palmerston North. So close to the town centre within walking distance to super market, takeaways and the town Mall. Love it. Comfortable beds and smelt clean 🙂

Suitable for those who look for serenity, strategic location with scenic view of Mount Ngaruhoe right at the entrance if the weather is good. Clean and tidy kitchen area with plenty of kitchen equipment and utensils for cooking. The only downside I would nitpick is that the hot tub is located by the roadside so there’s not much privacy around.

Stayed for the second time! The room given this time is on the second floor, so it is quieter and feels brighter and cleaner. There is milk, butter biscuits, everything is simple and comfortable, very close to the park, the bus stop is at the door, next time you go to Beipa, it is still the first choice.
