This is definitely the best hotel with top service in Auckland. We were on a group tour and stayed in several hotels all over the country, Horizon stood out as the most accommodating, comfortable, and friendly. It's just a few minutes walk from Weta, the neighborhood is clean, modern and convenient, surrounded by convenient stores and restaurants. I carelessly left my spare phone in a hotel in Wellington, and I am super grateful that the Concierge at Horizon went out of their way to help get it back... (it was a slightly complicated situation as I left New Zealand before the phone reached Horizon).

The single room is really tiny. Please upgrade to super single room. Our room was not ready after 5 pm. Reception told us they are doing final inspection to ensure there’s a fruit basket in the room for us. It’s a LIE! Not only there’s no fruit basket, there’s also no bottled water provided !
Other than this, overall the stay is good!

From the beautiful lobby, minimalist architecture, helpful and friendly staff, 5 star room - the quality and experience is second to none. Highly recommend this place if you are staying in Auckland. Its in the heart of Wynyard Quarter around great restaurants, the ASB Theatre and vibrant vibes.

Loved our stay. It was like hotels used to be. Lots of complimentary items. You could literally just walk in with your clothes. Awesome having a bar and restaurant on site. Parking was excellent. Airport shuttles come to the hotel and it has a heated pool. Highly recommend.

OK, it's a great hotel, excellent rooms, supplies, service, nothing wrong there. I only have two complaints, and it starts with their breakfast lounge Advieh. Excellent food, indeed beautiful, but it does not require loud music. People are there for breakfast, not for loud music, which is obviously only for the staff, not for customers. Make it more welcoming please. And the other problem is the access if you're driving. There is valet parking, but the area is very inconspicuous and it will be invariably occupied by taxis, often in two or three rows. The unadvised driver will not be able to stop, or drive in, unless you want to stop all traffic behind you as you wait for the taxis to move out. So do not try to turn left and drive around again, as traffic directions will take you all over the North Island before you make it back to the hotel. Just carry on on the same street for another block and you will drive around this massive car park, overnight cheaper than the hotel valet ($40, as opposed to $80 at the hotel) and you can comfortably walk to the hotel directly through a covered pedestrian walkway above the street. But if you do want to use the valet service at the hotel front, do stop by the taxis, honk like crazy and they will slowly move away to allow your car through - remember, that is your spot, not theirs. But I honestly advise anyone to use Uber to get to this hotel, and not drive in.

I like the place and by the name itself it’s already a very clean and stylish as well as first class. But, unfortunately when we came to the hotel our rooms not ready yet and we have to wait for more than an hour. We booked the hotel for a long time and we checked in late but the hotel personnel did not inform us beforehand that our rooms not yet ready which is really inconvenient. The other thing my son complained about is that there ‘s no microwave where we can heat the baby food or milk. We’ve been to other hotels before and microwave’s included in the rooms. Probably it’s our negligence too for not checking before booking the rooms. But hope in the future we expect that if we book the rooms before hand at least the staff will inform us if it’s not yet ready so we can plan ahead and not rush to check in.

Overall, it is average and the location is quite convenient, near Queen Street.
The room is relatively clean, but the kitchen supplies including microwave oven, oven and cooking utensils including frying pans and clay pots are poorly maintained and cannot be used.
During the stay (5 days and 4 nights), there was no housekeeping provided, nor instructions on how to change towels, dispose of garbage, or purchase consumables such as toilet paper, garbage bags, etc. When checking in, the hotel staff did not mention the above arrangements. Fortunately, there is no cooking, there is not much garbage, and we have our own garbage bags.
In addition, the day before departure, I asked about transportation information to the airport. The hotel staff provided a ”taxi” contact number and mentioned the fare. This service was originally very good, but unfortunately the driver contacted had questionable integrity. Before getting in the car, The charge was originally NZ$60, but when I finally arrived at the airport I was asked to pay NZ$70, which was very excessive. I hope the hotel can face up to this problem and not introduce this taxi company to customers, so as not to affect the hotel's image.

I recently stayed here again before a yacht race the next day and also Thursday before Coastal Classic . Everytime we have visited we have been greeted with smiles and a can do attitude . One example is we needed a early breakfast before the annual coastal classic race and asked if we could order breakfast for 6:30am instead of 7 . The staff said no problem we can organise it with the kitchen . We arrived in the restaurant at 6:30am and our meals were sitting under the hot lights freshly cooked and hot ready to go . What great service ! I also like the ease of parking ( getting there is a little challenging due to road works at the moment and there is plenty of room to park before heading to reception . I recommend this place for great service , good food , a room with a view if required , clean modern rooms and a nice breakfasts .

Clean and new hotel. However, the pillows were too soft/flat and not enough hangers provided. Location was great! Except that it’s on a slope, so there’s climbing up and down when u wana go out and get back. There’s road works going on just outside. Breakfast spread was ok. Overall a comfortable stay.

GGuest UserI was disappointed in my stay at this hotel. While it’s location is convenient to many things it’s nearly impossible to find parking nearby. There is a small amount of parking in the basement but not enough for even a small fraction of total guests. Finding street parking in this area is a nightmare especially while local schools are in session. Our room was small but otherwise okay. Sadly the shower in our bathroom was very difficult to use without flooding the entire place. Some glass partitions or better fitting shower curtains were definitively needed. Our stay was also disrupted by ongoing construction noise from an adjacent building site. Not the hotel’s fault but annoying nonetheless. This facility clearly has a marketing deal with nearby Goodside. Goodside was hyped as ”an exquisite collection of Auckland’s finest boutique food and beverage restaurants - one of Auckland’s more delectable dining destinations.” So based on the hotel’s recommendation we braved the rain and went to check it out. It was neither delectable or even open in most cases. The best thing on offer was a Subway franchise. Some of the restaurants may have been open during the day but the place was dead in the evening. We were literally the only potential customers in the place. I don’t expect Goodside will survive much longer and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I also think it’s bad form that Quest endorsed it so favorably.

GGuest UserLocation The Quest is located in the north shore suburb of Albany. We only chose it because we have relatives living in Long Bay, whom we had come to visit. However, if you’re coming as a tourist to see the sights of Auckland, then this may not be the ideal place to be. To get to the city, for example, we would take an Uber to Devonport, and from there, it’s a short (approx. 20 mins) ferry ride into the city, but all up, for Uber and ferry fares it could cost between $NZ40-50 and take an hour and a half depending on traffic and the waiting time for the ferry. There might be a bus option but we didn’t investigate that. When it came time to leave Auckland, the cost of an Uber to the airport, leaving Quest at 1.30pm on a weekday, was $NZ85. The receptionist told us that despite the out of the way location, the Quest is popular with business travellers and that did make sense, because the Westfield shopping centre is nearby, and there’s a virtual satellite suburb surrounding the Westfield, with dozens of other businesses, shops, cafes and restaurants. The other reason, I guess people would stay here, is if, like us, they are visiting relatives who live in one of the outer north shore suburbs like Torbay, Long Bay, Browns Bay etc, but if I came here purely as a tourist, I would choose to be in the city. Despite its small size, the traffic in Auckland could be pretty horrendous at times, which just adds to your taxi or Uber costs. There isn’t much in the near vicinity of the hotel, apart from a few little shops and restaurants. But the aforementioned Westfield can be easily reached by Uber, or even on foot, although it isn’t a particularly pleasant walk, alongside the highway and it takes about 20-25 minutes. Most of the time, when visiting Westfield, we choose to Uber there and back, and that generally costs a modest $NZ8 or $9 each way. Apartment A comfy little lounge-room was the main feature of the apartment, with a wooden dining table with steel legs, four solid wooden chairs also with steel legs, a small desk and chair with a strong desk light and enough power points to charge all your appliances. There were two comfy lounge chairs in rather dark, sombre colours of olive green and brown, and far too many cushions for such a small space, so they continuously had to be rotated around to make room to sit. The smart TV had local channels as well as YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, pretty much everything you would need from a TV, including a fancy remote with a laser pointer. There was a little coffee table and the whole place was carpeted except for the bathroom and kitchenette, which was just as well, because despite it being mid summer, we found Auckland a cold place and on some days, temps got as low as 18 degrees, complete with wind and rain. Fortunately, the reverse cycle air con worked well, so we had it on heat at 27 degrees most of the time and that at least helped to keep the place warm. I don’t think that we ever used the cooling cycle.

IIefataVery happy with the location being right outside Spark arena and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately there was noise coming from the room below us. We called reception about this but the noise continued throughout the night. The cleanliness could've been better as there was hair on the bathroom walls. Also wish we had chromecast as an option.
Overall this is ideal for anyone that is looking for an affordable venue close to Spark arena. Beds were comfy and the room has more amenities than most places I've stayed at.

GGuest UserWe began and ended our stay in New Zealand here. My sister and I had stayed here on our last trip to NZ and had been so comfortable we wanted to do so again. When we arrived in Auckland we were given a nice 2 bedroom suite overlooking the park. I think it must have been a handicapped suite as the bathroom was a wet room, which was a little odd, but we got used to it, otherwise very nice. When we checked in again at the end of our trip, a few days before flying home, we were surprised and delighted to find that we had been upgraded to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath penthouse suite. It was huge, with a great view of downtown Auckland and the Skytower. The rooms are very clean and spacious, the beds comfortable, and the little cafe downstairs quite convenient. Buses for Inner Link stop right outside, and it's about a 15 minute walk downtown. New World supermarket is about 5 minutes away. Tip: if walking downtown, go via Halsey Street down to the harbour, you will avoid the hills.

GGuest UserThe main advantage is the location, just off the main shopping area of Queen Street, less than 10 minutes walk to the Viaduct and Britomart areas. Supermarkets less than five minutes walk, SkyCity just up the road, etc. The building itself is nothing flash with a small reception area and two small lifts. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the 7th floor and the apartment was quite comfortable and had plenty of space to relax. The WiFi worked well. The small kitchen had the basics we needed to have breakfast and prepare a light meal and snacks. One bathroom was an en suite off the main bedroom whilst the other bathroom was larger and contained the washing machine and dryer. Unfortunately we suffered from the construction noise in the street outside which of course is nothing to do with the hotel, but meant we had to sleep with the air conditioning on rather than have a window or sliding door open. There was less noise on the weekend but there was still some construction taking place.

WWong Wai ManA fantastic experience of our 7-nights staying in Royal Residency! The apartment is conveniently located in a local suburb, closed to almost all big names supermarkets especially with a few Asian Grocery nearby. Commute to CBD or hot spots via driving is easy! The apartment is quite new and is properly housekeeped and managed. Tanishq was very responsive to all our requests, really appreciated! Just one last point… the oven should have been checked prior to our arrival. We will definitely stay again if we ever have a chance coming back to New Zealand!

SShanghaiLlamaThe hotel location is quite convenient, the facilities are modern and clean. The staff is friendly and accomodating. My only real issue is that there were a few days when they were painting the hallway outside my room; and my room smelled quite heavily of paint fumes. I have asthma and this adversely affected my health and comfort; paint fumes has both short-term and long-term harm to your health; so I don't understand why they would do this sort of work with guests inside the rooms. Anyways my rating is 5 stars regardless and highly recommond staying in this hotel if you are visiting Auckland
