Quinta do Chocalhinho Agroturismo & Spa
4.6/517 Reviews
We arrived in Odemira without a place to stay and rang up the Quinta, where Antonio was so welcoming and gave us directions to the farm, 2 km outside of town. Love and respect are clearly the foundation of this family enterprise. Antonio and Teresa are both lovely and constantly helpful with restaurant suggestions and reservations, special needs, hiking recommendations. They aim to make your stay special and unforgettable. The room was comfortable and spacious, and the facilities were wonderful—the beautiful salt water pool was a special treat. It was fun to explore the farm and grounds and to meet the three-week-old donkey. The breakfast buffet, included in the room rate, is exceptional—particularly the homemade jams and preserves, local cheeses, and fresh-baked cakes, not to mention eggs cooked to order. I’m sure we gained weight. After a month of touring Portugal’s cities and towns, our relaxing stay in this beautiful and warm environment was the perfect ending to our trip.
Hotel Museu

We spent four nights in this hotel during our birding tour. Our room was clean and well-maintained, the bed was comfortable, with enough good pillows to keep my happy, and there was wifi. However, the room was small, and there were only two very small bed stands and one small, narrow table on which we could put things. There were some drawers in the closet, but only a few coat hangers which were insufficient for two people spending four nights. We had to ask three times before we were given some additional ones. The bathroom was our biggest problem. For some reason, we were given a handicapped room, which we didn't need. The toilet was high enough that my feet could barely reach the floor. The sink was not set in a counter, so there was no place to put our toilet articles, and we had to use the plastic seat which was intended to be used in the shower for a shelf. The shower was the worst part. The walls could be folded and were not securely fastened to the base, so if you leaned on them, they could collapse, and they leaked water onto the floor outside. The stall was small enough that while washing, you could inadvertently hit the faucet handle and turn the water off. I can't say I ever enjoyed a shower during our stay. On the plus side, there was a very nice breakfast buffet which was served in an adjoining building.
Duna Parque Beach Club

Apartment-style hotel, no washing machine, all facilities are a bit outdated. The service staff are very enthusiastic, the environment is good, and it is very close to the beach. It is a good place to watch the sunrise and sunset. The nearby town is worth visiting
Alentejo Star Hotel - Sao Domingos - Mertola - Duna Parque Resorts & Hotels
4.3/528 Reviews
This is a very good hotel, ideal for a weekend break and especially if you want to be near to the beautiful Guardiana river. We travelled up the Portuguese side and visited Mertola which was, to be honest, a bit underwhelming but as the road gave way to the Alentejo countryside, appreciation was lifted. The hotel was easy to locate, impressive even in the mist and gentle rain and we felt instantly that it wa a good choice. The reception was warm and friendly and our room was substantial with all facilities, very clean and well prepared and had a lovely view over the swimming pool. The observatory was under modification; the games room in the Library was good to have even though it was quite cold. We did arrive on a Sunday night - the restaurant was open with an understandably limited menu. One of us is a no-fish vegetarian and so it is our fault that there was nothing we could sit down to and we could find nothing open in the village. But it was our fault. Should have rung ahead. We would happily visit again. Breakfast was extensive and good but, other than pancakes, nothing hot.
Hotel HS Milfontes Beach - Duna Parque Resorts & Hotels
3.9/573 Reviews
At any decent quality hotel we expect to have a good night's rest. Certainly in a 4-star (****) hotel. Unfortunately, this was not the case in this hotel. We have gotten a room at the very east side of the building (opposite side from the reception) and got 'entertained' by a loudly, noisy air-condition type of sound, all night long. It was even not from any neighbouring room, it definitely came from the far east side of the building. Not to mention the overall quality of the room and the furniture, which couldn't pass the 3-star bar.
Enigma - Nature & Water Hotel
3.9/544 Reviews
Enigma is miles off the beaten track and really special. Beautifully clean and light and airy. The bedrooms were superb and spacious. Elena and Anna were professional and very friendly and charming and attended promptly to all our needs and requests. The swimming pools and facilities were really exceptional and we welcomed the chance to lie in the sun after a hard day's cycling in quite warm temperatures. They laid on a tasty meal - most of us had Chicken Stroganoff- which was very tasty. Our waiter worked hard and efficiently to ensure we were well looked after in the restaurant. The breakfasts were extensive and well presented and tasty. The place was in such a remote location that there was no noise at night. The next morning we cycled off down a dirt track for several miles before we joined more conventional roads!
Flag Hotel Villa Aljustrel

We stayed here for one night on our way to Lisboa. A very nice and friendly hotel. The front staff were excellent. Dinner was really good. André is an excellent waiter who really knows how to give a real treat. We can highly recommend this hotel and restaurant which is situated not far from the motorway A2.
