Dunkeld House Hotel

This venue is really a hidden gem up to a point , the Chef and kitchen ( paticularly the Haddock and Poached Eggs at Breakfast which is Michelin Star level ) the spa and swimming pool are kept to a good standard of hygene , however there is a serious problem with service which is evident from the staff behind the bar ( Saturday 4th May to be specific ) where it was plainly evident for all of the guests seated in the lounge to witness the grief that was being given to the Restaurant Host and other waiting staff by the two individulas behind the bar who were making their life's a misery by poor attitude and unhelpfulness when rightfully they were chasing restaurant drink orders which were painfully slow on deliverance attributed totally to the ineptness of the bar staff . Its about time that Providence Hotels boss Mr Neil Hughes and Blantyre Capital and Fairtree Alternative Real Estate were made aware of this as it is not fair on the efforts made by the other staff who are being dragged down needlessly by the bar staffs under performance , ineptness and demeanour .

Very central hotel. Stayed in a twin Cosy room. Looked out to train station. Walked in and first impression was poor as the one window was filthy looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a very, very long time. Room was clean but very basic. Tea & coffee in room which I like. Iron and ironing board which was good also. Parts of the hotel look dated a but tired, not like what is shown in the tv advert. Room was very hot but there was a fan in the room which was helpful as it was needed. Breakfast was delicious, I would stay again because of the location. The staff at check in were very helpful especially when I arrived and there was no space in the car park. Although we didn’t eat in the hotel it looked like they served lovely food. Live entertainment in the bar of hotel on Saturday night. Lovely courtyard area if you want to sit outside or have a walk around. All In all it was pleasant enough, I’d go back just a real shame about how filthy the bedroom window was couldn’t look out to enjoy the view.
The Parklands Hotel

Just had a weekend away with friends in this lovely small boutique hotel, we stayed in Friarton room, whilst our friends were in slightly bigger Oakbank (all rooms names not numbers) Both were booked as front facing superior rooms. We had a lovely new bathroom in the room and all was very clean and looked after well. We had both a delicious dinner and extensive breakfast, with plenty of local and Scottish produce. We met the chef, who came out to see the tables. If you are looking for a great, well kept, convenient and friendly place to stay in Perth then look no further. We all left saying it was a highlight of our trip. I would also recommend booking with them for dinner and breakfast.
The Kenmore Club
4.3/562 Reviews
Kenmore is a beautiful location and the area is a stunning area of natural beauty in Scotland. That said, having stayed at this resort before, I was disappointed with the cleanliness and maintenance of not only the lodges but the leisure centre. The lodge itself had peeling wall paper and chips around light switches and old frying pans, all things which are easily maintained and/or changed. The pool area is lovely but pool was cold and one of only two showers were out of order due to a cracked base in the ladies. This was a relatively cheap break but despite this I do feel the Kenmore club is looking a little shabby and in much need of an overhaul or at least some renovation to keep up with the neighbouring hotels and lodges which are more modern and well kept
The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel

Although the hotel is a bit dated, the staff are helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable and we had a nice outlook over the garden. We opted to have dinner in the bar.We chose nachos to share which were nice, however we both chose the fish and chips and the chips were good but the fish was encased in batter reminiscent of captain birdseye fish fingers in batter. Very disappointing as we expected fresh fish dipped in a light batter deep fried not the triangle of bought in fish in batter. Breakfast is buffet style and was fine with a choice of cereals, fruit, croissants and cooked breakfast. There was entertainment on the evening we were there and the singer was very good. The hotel also has a range of board games you can borrow. Access to the town is very easy by foot as you can go down some steps in the garden area and walk down the hill to the Main Street in about 5 minutes. Overall we enjoyed our stay

Overall a nice hotel with a good atmosphere and stunning gardens and views. Staircases can be better indicated and another lift would be useful. Breakfast a bit disappointing.
Scotland's Spa Hotel

Decided to ignore poor reviews and make my own judgement on this hotel. Just back from 2 nights staying at said establishment, £414 for the pleasure!!! Are you sitting comfortably? If so, I'll begin.... Stayed in Room 111, 1st floor (allegedly), walked along 1st floor corridor, climbed over pile of dirty laundry, (as staff were still cleaning rooms at 4pm), then down some stairs, to what looked like servants quarters, small corridor with a few rooms, somewhere staff may have been located in 'Upstairs/Downstairs' (if you are old enough to remember that) Room 111 meant to be a King-size room, not very King, Queen or Princess - like. Bed definitely wasn't King-size, room didn't look like pictures of King-size rooms on their website, decor was tired and dated, can't really call it decor, it was just BLAH, looked like a cheap room you might find in FOUR IN A BED ((MDF furniture and cheap bed linen) , it was actually really depressing, the location didn't help, (the windows were just above hotel refuse station, a lot of Crash, Bang, Wallop) and the wardrobe only had 4 coat hangers..... 4 is barely enough for me over a weekend, let alone 2 people!! Decided it can't be all bad, surely?? Let's look at the facilities, possibly this was the reason for the inflated price tag, as it certainly isn't the room!! To get to gym and pool, which is why I booked this hotel,(and to have a relaxing weekend), you need to walk through the SPA treatment area, which is kindly signposted for you, it also tells you to keep quiet as treatments in progress, seriously!!! After we crept through SPA Treatment area, being careful not to breathe too loudly, talk, laugh, live, you get to the pool changing area which leads on to the gym, where we were going (all this with our trainers on - and whilst swimmers have bare feet, not very hygienic and quite slippy), had a quick look at the pool on the way, and the jacuzzi, both were a lot smaller than I had anticipated, having seen the photographs online, unfortunately, as was the gym, which was barely a mini-gym, I have more equipment at home, no weights whatsoever, we decided to give it a miss and headed quietly back to reception/bar for a refreshment. The bar area and reception are merged into one, so don't try and get an overpriced drink when it's check - in time (your room wont be ready in time either), as you could have a looooonnnggg wait (for both). I also didn't know the bar area had a cinema when I booked, sorry, my mistake, it's actually a big window looking right onto the swimming pool. For me, and it's just me, if I am booking into a SPA hotel, I want the whole experience to be relaxing, I don't want to be in the matinee screening of SPLASH, nor do I want to have to go to the reception/bar area for towels, or sign in to a register, with the time I am going into the pool. I am not going to steal the towels, towels should just be readily available, it's Scotlands SPA Hotel for goodness sake, people will use the pool!
Wyndham Duchally Country Estate

Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, divided into upper and lower floors, with a large balcony where you can dine on the balcony table! It has its own parking space, which is convenient for parking. The lawn is very large, suitable for parents and children to hang out! The location is a bit remote, but the overall environment is very good👍
Loch Rannoch Hotel and Estate
4.2/5102 Reviews
This hotel and Spa is in a beautiful setting with stunning Loch views. The hotel itself is traditional and cosy. The staff were friendly and attentive in all areas of the hotel, however a special mention must go to the lady in Reception who was very chatty and welcoming. We had a heritage room with a loch view which I would recommend. We ate in the Estate Room on the first evening which was a fine dining experience. On the Second night we ate in the Wild Brownie and this was more casual. Both restaurants were nice and we enjoyed all dishes. I am gluten free and had lots to choose from. Breakfast was mainly buffet with some cooked to order dishes which incurred an extra charge. We felt the buffet offered enouch choice and didn't opt for any of these. We visited the spa/pool which was clean and well maintained. No complaints at all about this hotel and would definitely recommend and come back again♥️
Fonab Castle Hotel

Fantastic place to stay when visiting Pitlochry. Friendly warm welcome from concierge. Rooms and public areas beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Service in restaurant was very efficient although could have been friendlier. Breakfast menu was a bit confusing that the continental option was a starter to share - would have been helpful if this had been explained by staff. Spa itself is a bit underwhelming as both the pool and outdoor hot tubs look straight onto the car parking and the communal areas were very cold as a door was left permanently open to allow access to the outdoor hot tubs. Spa staff very friendly though.
