New Taipei's all-you-can-eat dim sum spot: Villager Canteen Dim Sum Kitchen at Xinzhuang i-Tower

Villager Canteen Dim Sum Kitchen specializes in all-you-can-eat Cantonese dim sum and currently has three branches across Taiwan: Taipei Shilin, Taoyuan Arts District, and the newly opened Xinzhuang i-Tower branch. Weekday lunch and dinner are priced at just NT$680, while weekends cost NT$760, allowing diners to enjoy unlimited authentic Cantonese cuisine. The menu is updated seasonally, featuring freshly made dim sum prepared upon order. 🥳 Upon entering the Xinzhuang branch, you'll be greeted by an impressive display of steaming baskets filled with delights like freshly steamed custard buns and rice rolls. The menu also includes three types of roasted meats, various stir-fried dishes, hearty soups, and a selection of fruit salads. For dessert, guests can indulge in unlimited servings of Cantonese sweets and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. 🎉 Having tried the Taoyuan branch before, I found the flavors decent, but the Xinzhuang branch offers better taste and refinement. Plus, the convenience of not having to go between two floors to get food is a big plus! (Though the Taoyuan branch is slightly cheaper.) Among the roasted meats, the soy sauce chicken is highly recommended and was a crowd favorite. The steamed dim sum items I tried tonight were all quite delicious, including the loofah shrimp dumplings, jade sushi shrimp, taro paste buns, and abalone siu mai—all worth a try. The custard buns are served at fixed times, with a limit of one plate (two buns) per person per serving. Other must-tries include the freshly steamed shrimp siu mai and the shiitake mushroom black chicken soup. The clay pot rice, cooked to order, can even be prepared with crispy rice crust upon request!
