First Visit to Yehliu Geopark | Stunning Rock Formations and a Day of Scorching Heat | Pet-Friendly Destination

Yehliu Geopark, located in Wanli District, New Taipei City, is a natural landscape shaped by tectonic movements, marine erosion, and weathering. It is a travel destination that combines earth science and aesthetics. Strolling through the stone maze in its three main areas, visitors can marvel at geological wonders sculpted over millions of years and experience the timeless dialogue between ocean waves and rock formations. The park features various geological formations, including mushroom rocks, honeycomb rocks, potholes, and marine-eroded terrains. The most famous attraction is the Queen’s Head, a symbol of Taiwan’s northern coastline. The arrangement of rocks resembles art pieces, complemented by coastal sunsets and intertidal zones, making it the perfect spot for photography and connecting with nature. During summer, the park is open until 7 PM, with the last admission at 6 PM. It’s recommended to visit after 5 PM for a more comfortable experience. However, the park lacks any shade, and even visiting after 4 PM, the heat was unbearable. For someone like me who doesn’t tolerate heat well, it dampened my enthusiasm for exploring. After just a few steps, I was drenched in sweat, and even my furry companion seemed disinterested. In the end, I only wanted to take a quick look around and leave, not even bothering to take a photo with the Queen’s Head! This is a pet-friendly destination where you can bring your furry friends, but make sure to keep them on a leash and monitor their condition to prevent heatstroke.
