San Francisco, a sentimental travelogue of hills and the sea

#July Travel Support Fund San Francisco was romantic from the moment the fog settled in. The pretty houses lined up on the hill and the Golden Gate Bridge across the sea showed the charm of the city at a glance. The first course was the Golden Gate Bridge. The orange bridge was much more magnificent in person, and the feeling of liberation from the open sea and cool breeze while walking on the bridge was impressive. The Marin Headlands Observatory offered a spectacular view of the city and the bridge together. After that, we took a boat to Alcatraz Island. This former prison had an interesting history along with a gloomy atmosphere. As I listened to the story of the time through the audio guide and toured the solitary confinement cells and prison, scenes from the movie came to mind. For lunch, I tried sourdough clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf. Sea lions were leisurely resting at Pier 39, and it was bustling with street performances and souvenir shops. On Lombard Street, famous for its zigzag road on the hill, I took pictures on the pretty street with flowers and gardens. In the evening, I finished the day by enjoying pasta and wine at an Italian restaurant in North Beach. On the last day, I took a walk around Golden Gate Park and slowly looked around the Japanese garden and art museum. It was a healing space where nature and art coexisted even in the city. San Francisco was a city with the sea, hills, culture, and gourmet food.
