#July Travel Support Fund From the moment I set foot in San Francisco, the cold wind blowing from the ocean and the unique scenery of the hilly city were attractive. The Golden Gate Bridge, slightly covered in sea fog, welcomed me like a symbol of the city. The trip started at the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge was more magnificent than I thought when I saw it up close, and the view of the ocean and the city while walking on the bridge was truly impressive. The view from the Marin Headlands Observatory showed the charm of San Francisco at a glance. After that, I took a boat and visited Alcatraz Island. This former prison had an interesting history along with a gloomy atmosphere. As I listened to the stories of that time through the audio guide and toured the solitary confinement cells and prison, I felt as if I had traveled through time. For lunch, I tried sourdough clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf. Sea lions were leisurely resting at Pier 39, and the lively atmosphere continued thanks to street performances and souvenir shops. Lombard Street, famous for its zigzag road on the hill, was so pretty with its lovely flowers and gardens that it was perfect for taking pictures. In the evening, I finished the day by enjoying pasta and wine at an Italian restaurant in North Beach. On the last day, I walked around Golden Gate Park. I was able to spend a leisurely time with nature and art in the city while looking around the Japanese garden and art museum. San Francisco was a city that had the sea, hills, culture, and gourmet food.
