A Chaotic Senior Trip: Austria, Salzburg Part 1

We arrived at Salzburg Central Station before noon, so we left our luggage at a hotel near the station and headed to a restaurant we had researched beforehand. From there, we walked through Mirabell Gardens to the Old Town. During our previous summer visit, the sky was beautifully blue, and the atmosphere was delightful. I wanted to show my parents that scenery, but unfortunately, the weather had turned quite cold and cloudy starting that day. Despite this, Salzburg is truly a stunning city! We were heading to the Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of the best-preserved fortresses in Central Europe. However, to our surprise, the cable car was closed for maintenance that day, so we had to climb to the top on foot. We chose a shortcut with a steep route to save time, but it was incredibly tough. The stairs and slopes were so steep that the cable car is absolutely necessary! And to think we bought the Salzburg Card for this! The Salzburg Card is a great deal during the peak season. Even during the off-season, it’s convenient as it grants access to museums and the castle’s exhibitions, as well as unlimited rides on public transportation.
