I had the chance to visit Osaka last winter, and it was an amazing experience. From the food to the attractions and the authentic yet modern Japanese atmosphere, everything was perfect. I hope this review makes you feel like you're traveling with me! ⸻ Starting at Kansai Airport Upon landing at Kansai International Airport, my first impression was, "Wow! It's huge and so clean!" There are plenty of English signs, making it easy to navigate. From the airport, I took the JR Kansai Airport Rapid Service to Namba Station, a central hub for shopping and entertainment in Osaka. The train was punctual, air-conditioned, and comfortable—not hot and stuffy like back home. Plus, there was free Wi-Fi, which made me feel that Osaka truly caters to tourists right from the start. ⸻ Dotonbori: A Food Lover's Paradise Stepping out of Namba Station, I entered Dotonbori, a lively area illuminated by neon lights and the iconic Glico sign, where people are constantly taking photos. The atmosphere is vibrant and full of life. Just walking around is fun, but if you're a foodie, this place is heaven! Must-try dishes include Takoyaki—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with chunks of octopus, topped with special sauce, mayonnaise, and bonito flakes. The aroma is irresistible. Next is Okonomiyaki, a savory Japanese pancake made fresh with meat, vegetables, and a sweet-savory sauce. It's so flavorful you can't stop eating. There's also Kushikatsu, deep-fried skewers of various ingredients dipped in a special sauce. They're so crispy and delicious you'll want to keep eating more. The food here is fresh and delicious, especially when served hot. The atmosphere is friendly, like dining with friends. ⸻ Universal Studios Japan (USJ) – A Dream World On the second day, I was super excited to visit Universal Studios Japan, one of Osaka's and Japan's most popular theme parks. It features attractions and themed areas from famous movies that everyone knows. The highlight for me was The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Walking in felt like stepping into a magical world. I even tried Butterbeer, a special drink with a sweet, creamy flavor and frothy top. There's also Super Nintendo World, an interactive Mario-themed area full of vibrant colors, perfect for gamers and fun-seekers. Each ride is meticulously designed and very safe. I had so much fun I lost track of time. I recommend setting aside a full day to enjoy everything here. ⸻ Osaka Castle and Its Beautiful Gardens On the third day, I visited Osaka Castle, a symbol of the city with a rich history. Surrounding the castle are gardens filled with cherry blossoms and maple trees. If you visit during spring, you'll see soft pink cherry blossoms in full bloom. From the top floor of the castle, you get a 360-degree view of the city. The scenery is so stunning you'll want to keep taking photos. After exploring the castle, I strolled through the gardens and stopped at a small café to enjoy green tea and sweet mochi. The cozy Japanese ambiance made it feel like home. ⸻ Shopping at Shinsaibashi and Umeda For shopping enthusiasts, Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade is a must-visit. It's a long pedestrian street filled with fashion boutiques, cosmetic stores, and adorable souvenir shops. I ended up with a handful of souvenirs, including snacks, food items, and cute home decorations. Next, I headed to Umeda Sky Building, which has an open-air observation deck offering a breathtaking view of Osaka. Watching the golden sunset was incredibly romantic and unforgettable. ⸻ Must-Try Authentic Japanese Food in Osaka Osaka is renowned for its flavorful and delicious cuisine.
