Don’t just head to Kyoto during cherry blossom season—Osaka has romantic cherry blossom spots too. Tsurumi Ryokuchi Park, located in Moriguchi City, was the main venue for the 1990 International Garden and Greenery Exposition. After more than 30 years of development, it has become the lungs of the city and a popular place for nearby residents to exercise and picnic. It is also one of Osaka’s well-known cherry blossom viewing spots during sakura season, especially the Somei Yoshino cherry trees planted around the lake, which create a stunning scene. Luckily, when I visited in early March, I was able to catch the tail end of the Kawazu-zakura bloom ahead of time. Along the cherry blossom path beside the golf practice range, the blossoms filled the walkway with a romantic atmosphere. What makes it even more special is that before the Kawazu-zakura had fully finished, the Okame-zakura had already eagerly begun blooming in relay. There’s an interesting story behind these Okame-zakura. In 1947, British ornithologist Collingwood Ingram crossbred Taiwan cherry and Fuji cherry to cultivate this variety, whose flowers bloom facing downward like little hanging bells. Today, famous places to see Okame-zakura include in front of Mitsukoshi in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, Tsurumi Ryokuchi in Osaka, and also Washington, D.C. in the United States. With their deep pink and light purplish-red hues, they are even more photogenic than the cherry blossoms people usually imagine. I bought an early entry ticket, allowing me to enter an hour earlier. I headed straight for the Mario Land. Although I had a Fastpass, some rides still had queues. Early entry allowed me to be first in line. The Mario Land was incredibly realistic, like bringing the game to life, which was very moving and exciting. The rides were also fantastic, with Bowser's Castle being the best. However, it was extremely crowded, so I recommend paying for Fastpasses. I enjoyed the other areas casually, avoiding those with long queues. Universal Studios Japan is definitely worth a visit.

Although the products are in large bottles, the sink area also provides a small bottle of the same series of skincare lotion for guests. The bed in the room is particularly satisfying. It's quite large, even though the room is listed as having two single beds. In practice, one bed can comfortably accommodate two people. The beds are placed very close together, which is considerate for guests. Families with children can easily combine the beds to sleep three people. Our room faced west, offering views of the Nakanoshima CBD and the O River to its north. The scenery is breathtaking both during the day and at night.
