Zhangye City · Qicai Danxia Scenic Area - Viewing Platform

Zhangye Qicai Danxia Scenic Area is located in Linze and Sunan counties of Zhangye City, Gansu Province. It is a national 5A-level tourist attraction and a world geological park. This scenic area is the most typical Danxia landform developed in the arid regions of northern China and the only highly composite area of Danxia landform and colorful hill landscape in the country, covering an area of 50 square kilometers. Its altitude ranges from 2000 to 3800 meters, stretching about 40 kilometers from east to west and 5 to 10 kilometers from north to south. The scene is spectacular, with unique shapes and bright colors, including red, yellow, orange, green, white, blue-gray, gray-black, and gray-white, resembling a spilled palette. The scenic area has seven viewing points: Qicai Yunhai, Qicai Xianyuan, Qicai Jinxiu, Qicai Hongxia, Wohu Gorge, Qicai Aohe, and Wanxiang Tulingu. It also includes more than 30 other attractions such as Shenlong Xihuo, Linghou Guanhai, Zhongsheng Baifo, Shenguai Wenti, Jinchan Wendao, Dashanbei, Qicai Ping, Shuimeiren, and Wohu. This location has been used as an outdoor filming site for Zhang Yimou's "A Simple Noodle Story" and Jiang Wen's "The Sun Also Rises". Additionally, the Qicai Danxia Scenic Area has received numerous honors, including being named one of the world's top ten geographical wonders, one of the 22 most unforgettable landscapes in the world, one of the 25 dream travel destinations globally, the most beautiful filming location at the 74th Venice Film Festival, one of China's top 20 branded tourist attractions, and the "Most Beautiful Chinese Tourist Attraction" by the International Tourism Federation.
