Cuihu Lake or The Green Lake Park in Kunming

#travelinginchina It is a scenic spot located in the central area of the main urban area of Kunming, Yunnan Province, at the western foot of Mount Wuhua. Cuihu Park is surrounded by lush water on all sides, with bamboo lush throughout the year and willows lush in spring and summer, hence the name 'Cuihu'. The park has a long history and profound cultural heritage, and is known as the "Emerald" of Spring City. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, it was called "Caihaizi", also known as "Jiulong Pool" because there were "nine springs flowing out of the lake and converging into a pool" in the northeast. During the Ming Dynasty, Mu Ying planted willows and grazed horses in Cuihu, while during the Qing Dynasty, Wu Sangui renamed it as the "Honghua Prefecture". In the 31st year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1692), the Yunnan patrol king Jiwen built the "Biyi Pavilion" in the middle of the lake island, which became a scenic area. In the fifteenth year of the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty (1835), the Governor General of Yungui, Ruan Yuan, built a long north-south embankment called "Ruan Causeway". In the eighth year of the Republic of China (1919), Tang Jiyao built a long east-west embankment called "Tang Causeway". The two embankments intersected at the central island of the lake, dividing the lake into four sections. Cuihu Park consists of attractions such as Shuiyue Pavilion, Haixin Pavilion, Jiulong Pool, Guanyu Tower, Lianhua Zen Temple, Southwest Island, and Zhulin Island, with the landscape feature of "Ten Acre Lotus Fish World, Half City Willow Buddha Tower Terrace. It’s the most approachable place in the downtown to visit. Most of the visitors come here and enjoy the atmosphere. Highly recommended for visitors coming with families.
