📍Kochi Prefecture Niyodo River Carp Streamers A seasonal sight in early summer, colorful carp streamers made of nonwoven fabric swaying down the Niyodo River. The view from the Niyodo River Bridge, which passes just above the venue, is spectacular. The event, which began in 1995, has been gaining in popularity every year, and in 2000 it won the "4th Hometown Event Grand Prize Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Award." The carp streamers are made of special paper that does not tear even when wet, and about 280 of them, large and small, ranging from 1.5 to 15 meters in length, are fixed in the river with stones.
