High-value semi-buffet

Dining out in Hong Kong nowadays is indeed much cheaper than before. If you take the time to explore, you'll find plenty of incredible deals that were once unimaginable, now presented right before you. One such deal is the semi-buffet at The Royal Pacific Hotel. Let’s first take a look at the food, and we’ll talk about the price at the end! The appetizer section of the buffet table offers a variety of salads. In addition to the basics like greens, cherry tomatoes, and corn, there are refreshing options such as pomelo salad, beetroot salad, pork knuckle salad, and shrimp salad. The cold dishes also include my favorites: cold cuts, smoked salmon, smoked duck breast, and squid, all of which help whet the appetite. For those with smaller appetites, sampling a few salads might already fill you up. As for me, I grabbed a slice of pizza before moving on to the main courses. The pizza here is ultra-thin with crispy edges, topped simply with tomato sauce, Thousand Island dressing, and some bell peppers—deliciously satisfying. If you’re dining with friends, it’s best to order different main courses to share the joy. My choice was the miso-glazed halibut. The fish was undoubtedly tender, and I’ve always loved dishes prepared with miso glaze. But what surprised me even more was the risotto cake underneath, pan-fried to a slight crisp with a rich cheesy aroma—truly enticing. Another dish was the pan-seared tiger prawns, generously served with four pieces. The prawn heads carried a delightful roe flavor, while the meat was firm and bouncy. The herb cream sauce was also very flavorful. After trying these two main courses, I felt the quality had improved compared to before. The third dish was the pan-seared lamb rack with puff pastry. The lamb was thick and perfectly cooked, with tender meat and a hint of the expected gaminess. I couldn’t resist picking it up with my hands and taking a big bite—so satisfying! After sipping some pumpkin soup, I was almost completely full, but it was time for dessert. The desserts included rich brownies, soft bread pudding, delicate matcha mousse, and refreshing passion fruit mousse. For a semi-buffet at this price point, they definitely delivered! Indulgently, I finished with a cup of coffee and then a glass of lemon tea—utterly satisfying. The official website offers a flash deal: dinner for two, including service charge, is only HK$608.
