[Praying for academic success surrounded by flowers] Hofu Tenmangu Shrine, Yamaguchi

Hofu Tenmangu Shrine is known as the first Tenmangu Shrine built in Japan, and enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning. Many worshippers from all over the country visit the shrine to pray for academic success and success in exams. It is also famous as a famous plum blossom viewing spot, with about 1,100 plum trees blooming in the spring.
