Plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum are cultural symbols that only Chinese people understand!

During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Huang Fengchi, a book merchant from Huizhou, edited and published the painting album "Four Albums of Plum, Bamboo, Orchid, and Chrysanthemum." Plum, orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum, known as the "Four Gentlemen," began to spread widely and became the subject of repeated depictions by literati. In the Northern Song Dynasty, the monk Zhongren created ink plum blossoms, and Yang Buzhi developed the double hook method of painting plum blossoms. In the Yuan Dynasty, Wang Mian called himself the owner of the Plum Blossom House, and at the end of the Qing Dynasty, Gao Ye Hou had a seal that read "paint plum blossoms that do not let others." At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhao Mengjian and Zheng Sixiao were both known as masters of ink orchids. The orchids painted by Zheng Sixiao had no soil or roots, implying that the land had been taken by foreigners and was unwilling to take root. Yao Yuqin and Qi Baishi were known as "North Qi and South Yao" and were good at painting orchids.
