Avignon, France: Is a day enough? You'll know when you see it.

Upon entering Avignon, the first thing you see is the massive outer walls of the castle. Beyond the massive stone walls, the Gothic Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes) comes into view, and you feel like you're in the Middle Ages. You can see all the major attractions in one day. The Palais des Papes, the Pont d'Avignon, and the view across the Rhone River from the Parc des Rochers des Domes. The problem is... the atmosphere of the streets, which makes you stop and think. Every block offers something tempting: a small bookstore, an alleyway fragrant with lavender, a café with a lovely terrace. After snapping a photo, you'll find yourself stopping again. In reality, time passes more on the streets than inside the castle. I only saw a few things as planned, but looking back, it feels like a day well spent. And! The Avignon tourist mini-tram offers services in eight languages: French, English, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese. But... there's no Korean. I hope it will be there next time I visit. (But do Korean travelers still find it so easy?) Avignon is that kind of place. I said I could see everything in one day, but the moment I turned around, I wanted to come back. It's a strangely memorable travel destination, where the streets leave more to be desired than the castle itself.
