Sanctuary of Christ the King - Lisbon 🇵🇹

Well worth the journey out of the city. The Sanctuary of Christ the King was a real take a step back moment. I was in awe of the size of it and the outlook it had over the wonderful city of Lisbon was astonishing. This statue in Lisbon was inspired by the statue of similar meaning in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The project was inaugurated in 1959 to express gratitude because the Portuguese were spared direct destructive effects of World War II. #photolocation #lisbon #christtheking #portugal
