It's changed to a buffet and is a bit disappointing compared to before

I recommend coming at the end of November or beginning of December. Then the maples will be red. The location is amazing. Very picturesque. Onsen with a view of the waterfall in the open air. Dinner is served in the common dining room. Sashimi tofu, etc. Delicious. The hotel is a bit old. The room smells of hay. But it is clean and warm. We slept on futons.

It's clean and tidy, and the service is attentive. It doesn't look like it has been there for nearly a hundred years. All six of us liked it.

The food was buffet style, but the taste was good. Foreign staff are studying Japanese well. The temperature had dropped in the morning, probably because the temperature had dropped. I wish check-out was a little slower.

Poor location, no service, and dirty. I will definitely not go there again.

We stayed in the main building this time, so this is just my impression of the main building. Our room number was 4XX, but it was on the floor just above the lobby, so it was quiet and a satisfactory room for us seniors. We read other people's reviews and were aware that the building was old before making our reservation. As it is an old building, the floors creaked in places, but it was kept very clean and we were able to stay there with peace of mind. The large public bath is not very large, as stated on the inn's website, but the bathtub and washing area were clean. The hot spring water comes out of the tap in the room bath. It seems that the hot water stored in the bathtub decreases over time. (^^; There is a washing area, but it was a little disappointing that there was no shower. As the name "no-ten-buro" (field bath) suggests, the open-air bath is an outdoor bath, with natural bamboo groves nearby, and to enter you have to put on your shoes and cross a walkway. (If it's raining, you cross the walkway with an umbrella, and it seems that they lend out umbrellas to enter the bath.) There is no washing area, so it is recommended to bathe in your room or after washing in the large public bath. Food was a buffet both in the evening and in the morning. Seats are assigned in advance, so there is no need to worry about not being able to find a seat. I had heard that dinner starts from 6pm, so I went there just before, but there were people already eating there (this may depend on the reservation plan). There was sashimi and appetizers on the table. The selection was decent and the food was delicious, but unfortunately the tempura and simmered dishes were all soggy. At breakfast, you are told to sit in the same seat as last night. (It's a good idea to remember where you sat for dinner (^^;) The food was mainly Japanese, so it was a little disappointing that there was no bread. At both dinner and breakfast, paper cups were provided so that you could take the coffee back to your room, which we were happy to take out. We went as a couple, but there was a kids' room, and in the lobby there was a sweets section with a sign saying "Dagashi-ya" (Candy Store), so we felt that it was a child-friendly inn. The staff were also very polite. At check-in, we were told that "We will come into your room at dinner time and lay out the futon," but they came to lay out the futon before the dinner buffet time. (Lucky for those who don't like staff coming into their rooms when they're out, unlucky for those who don't like staff coming in when they're in their rooms.)

Although it is an old inn, it is kept clean. There are fresh flowers in various places inside the hotel, which makes you feel warm. The room was clean and the view from the window was good. It's deep in the mountains. I loved the indoor hot spring bath and enjoyed it many times. Hakuryu Falls is amazing❗️ I chose the buffet for my meal. I get the impression that they're doing their best, but I feel like it's not enough. Unfortunately, there was no pot of water in the room. This may be the first time for a ryokan. I think the cost performance is good, so I hope they continue to do their best. thank you for helping me.

I stayed here with my toddler. I was very grateful to be able to use the kids room. The children also received a fireworks set and were able to enjoy the fireworks at night, which made them very happy. The meal was a buffet, but there was a lot of variety, and the dishes were beautiful. They are all delicious. At the open-air hot springs just across the red bridge, we were able to enjoy a special atmosphere away from everyday life with the greenery of the bamboo forest and the splendor of the waterfall. The staff were also kind and made my stay comfortable. I would like to stay again.

I chose this hotel on the list from the catalog gift I received, and my husband and I stayed there on a Friday in late June. So, I stayed without much prior information. However, it was such a wonderful stay that I would like to recommend it to everyone. I heard that the main building is over 100 years old and the new building is over 70 years old. Moreover, fresh flowers were displayed everywhere in the hall, and they were all wonderful and impressive. Of course, there are wonderful fresh flowers on the alcove of the room, and just looking at them changed the atmosphere of the room. As I mentioned earlier, as soon as I arrived, everyone quickly helped me load and unload my luggage. Actually, it was raining that day, so it was very helpful. Check-in is smooth, and all the staff are polite, but not too polite, so I don't get tired either. My son suddenly jumped into the hot spring for a day trip and then returned home, but he accepted it without a bad face. thank you very much. Next, the hot springs were also great. The large public bath is also wonderful, and I took a bath many times, but there are two separate open-air baths, and the atmosphere is different. Since the open-air bath that you can enter changes according to the time period, you can use both open-air baths repeatedly. At other facilities, the time slots are set relatively loosely, so it tends to happen that I couldn't enter one of them due to circumstances, but I didn't have to worry about it here. The quality and temperature of the hot springs were perfect for me, and I was able to relax very much. Next is food. It was a meal at the table seat in the hall. It seems that the chef has changed. It was a Japanese style buffet. I was impressed by the number of items, and the fact that they were all crowded and the vegetables were skillfully incorporated into every ingredient. Both my wife and I were very satisfied with the firm taste. It doesn't mean heavy seasoning. It means that it was a proper taste as Japanese food. I was talking with my wife that I couldn't do this if I didn't think about cooking all the time. I won't go into details, but even the sweets were the best. I was also impressed with the high quality of each ingredient. I'm sorry that I can't express it well, but it's certain that I felt the spirit and ability. Well, finally, about the staff, everyone was calm and detailed. There are many foreign staff, but I was impressed with their perfect Japanese and their polite and courteous behavior. I wondered if it would be possible to discipline a Japanese girl that much these days. To sum it up, the building is a little old, but the hot springs, food, and hospitality exceed it by 200%. It was a ryokan that asked if there was anything more necessary than this. Also, I will visit with my family. I want to take a bath in that open-air bath during the autumn leaves season. I'm worried that I might get a reservation.

I went there for the first time in a long time this time, but I was very satisfied with the fact that the chef changed. The buffet will start on June 14th, so I want to go again.
