This hotel was a disappointment. We stayed for four nights and on two of those had to sit in the lobby at 6.30pm whilst our room was reluctantly serviced. We observed a guy complaining at reception that his room was not ready after checking in. We were on the second floor, room 212, and the WiFi was hopeless and TV had local channels only. Duty manager was apologetic about all these shortcomings but that was it. It would appear that any good reviews this hotel has received are in respect of private family bookings. Don't waste your money here.

We stayed in room 216 the junior suite. It was spacious, the bed was uber comfy and the pillows perfectly squishy. The view from the double aspect windows were stunning. The bath tub was very welcome after a long journey. We stayed for dinner. Food beautifully plated and very tasty. Staff are both friendly and helpful. Breakfast this morning was amazing. I can't wait to come back to this little gem of a hotel!!! If you are in Youghal this is the place to stay.

We held our daughter Poppy’s naming ceremony in the Walter Raleigh on 05th July. Mick & his team went above and beyond to make sure our day was special, relaxed & exactly what we wanted; we even got a private screening of the All Ireland Semi-final, which made the day even better! We couldn’t have asked for a better location or a better staff team to have been part of our day to make it as great as it was. We can’t thank Mick & the team enough for their help and input throughout the planning & on the day!

Our room wasn't ready that afternoon when we arrived, we were happy to wait the 10 mins we were asked by housekeeping, when we entered the room there was a black mark on carpet, later we noticed on the side of the duvet a disgusting mark, I took a photo but will spare the reader. I called housekeeping to enquire where was a bar of soap in the bathroom, to be told no soap as stores were out of soap! No shampoo, shower gel etc. We attended an event, the upholstered chairs were manky. The public toilet had no paper towels, or hand drier working, every toilet seat was loose and askew. At sny time hygeine is vital, but surely after Covid things should be top notch. We chose to eat our evening meal in another hotel, The Old Imperial, food there as always was fabulous and the toilet was spotless with everything in order. We did wake up to a beautiful view, there was a fan in the room which we were grateful for as the weather was hot. The breakfast was fine. But overall for a 4 star Choice hotel we were not impressed. We didn't get much joy at checkout, just a sorry we weren't happy.

Unfortunately our stay was very mediocre! We booked and paid for a double with sea view. When we arrived at the hotel it was chaos as there was a very loud wedding on the go which took over the whole entrance and guest area. Our room 107 was disappointing. It overlooked the square/ park and one would hardly call it a seaview. We asked Michael if we could change rooms, he said the wedding had taken all rooms but the next morning he would show us another room, it was smaller but up to us. It was 23/24 degrees outside yet the rooms are hardly ventilated. The windows opened barely 5 cm and there is a pathetic fan that did very little in the room. No Aircon. No water in the room the first night but 2nd night we got bottled water. We asked for more soap and housekeeper said they had run out of soap and were expecting delivery on the Monday. Toilet paper wasn’t replenished either. The next day Michael didn’t contact us re the room change and when we saw him later there was no sign of any recognition or memory of showing is another room. He is clearly run off his feet, running every department and managing a very young and quiet stressed looking team. They were all very friendly and really trying their best. The breakfast was tasty but service lacking. The dining room was in a room on ground floor and not upstairs in restaurant with outside balcony and seaview as advertised. One dinner was included, served in the bar. Food was very tasty but absolutely massive portions , clearly lacking finesse and was quite off putting. The bed was very comfy, room nice and large and great powerful shower. All a bit of a letdown.

Booked a 3 course meal at Walter Raleigh Hotel the for 25 people from The Clonmel and Grangemockler Active Age group following a day trip. It was a very pleasant experience, the quality of the food was excellentand beautifully cooked and presented, it was served very quickly and efficiently by Brian and his team who were very attentive throughout. We would certainly recommend Walter Raleigh Hotel for quality, portions size and beautiful presentation.

What a beautiful hotel with friendly staff and excellent value for money. We stayed in room 202 which was a fabulous spacious room with views of the coastline. Myself and my partner eat in the restaurant and the food was top quality and excellent value for money. Without any hesitation we would recommend a stay in the Walter Raleigh Hotel. 5 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

A really nice hotel. Staff are super friendly and rooms are clean spacious and comfy. We had a water view which was amazing. Not loads to do in the town but a good base for trips to Cork( disappointing) and Cobh ( very good well worth a visit) A two-night stay was enough. The menu didn't change from one day to another and the food was good but not inspirational😀big portions, decent good. Recommend a stay here.

Well, I couldn't praise the place and the staff enough. The hotel is lovely and the room is clean and everything you need. The staff are so friendly and helpful, especially Brian. He is just a sweetheart. The toiletries smell amazing! So much so I was looking to buy some but unfortunately they no longer have their shop which is a shame. The food tastes amazing, and the quality is of a high standard! The price too was so reasonable compared to other hotels. Definitely value for your money! The view we had was gorgeous. I got lots of pictures so I can paint them when I get back home. Will definitely be back!!!

Youghal was the perfect midway stop between the ferry and our West Cork road trip. With views over the estuary and free parking outside it was just what we needed after a long day travelling. Lovely staff throughout the hotel, beautiful spacious bedrooms with seaviews, excellent bathroom facilities and a seating area overlooking the bay. We decided to eat in the hotel as it was late and had an excellent meal, very good value and really good menu choices, particularly the set menu with a drink included. Delicious food, lovely staff and a great evening. Lots of small lounge areas to sit and chat over a drink but we found it a bit too cool, presumably now we are in June the heating is off. Excellent breakfast with a lovely cold buffet as well. Great hotel all round and very reasonably priced too.

Had a lovely weekend on 23 to 25 May 2025 at the gorgeous Walter Raleigh Hotel. We are a Classic Car Club that was attending Classic Wheels in Youghal. Rooms were sparkling clean with very comfortable beds. Went to sleep at night with the sounds of the waves. Very friendly and helpful staff. Have to recommend Emily the waiting staff who looked after our group for our evening meal on Saturday. She went above and beyond, helpful and informative. The food was gorgeous and those in the group who got the Pork meal were still raving about it the next day.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in The Walter Raleigh hotel in Youghal on the 7th and 8th of May. We were made feel very welcome on arrival and shown a beautiful room with spectacular views of the harbour, public park and beach. The room itself was very spacious. We ate in the hotel restaurant that evening and were delighted with menu and food. Breakfast was outstanding as well with so much choice on the buffet menu. All hot food was cooked to order. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Walter Raleigh and would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel Pat & Joan Quill.
